Throw-ins: Springdale hopes to qualify for the PIAA playoffs for the fourth year in a row. The Dynamos also seek to bounce back from Tuesday’s 2-1 semifinal loss to No. 1 Sewickley Academy. Shondeck, a senior, scored Springdale’s lone goal in the game, giving her 11 goals on the season. Senior Hailey Marchlewski, sophomore Tessa Derringer and freshman Adele Walters-Vrabel also have scored 11 goals on the season. The loss snapped a seven-game win streak. …. Waynesburg and Springdale last played in the 2022 WPIAL Class A semifinals at Peters Township. The Dynamos won 5-0 to advance to Highmark Stadium. The Raiders then lost to Greensburg Central Catholic in the third-place match with a spot at states on the line. … Waynesburg, as the No. 11 seed, pulled a pair of WPIAL upsets to reach the WPIAL semifinals. The Raiders took down No. 6 Winchester Thurston, 1-0, in the first round before upending No. 3 Seton LaSalle, 3-1, in the quarterfinals. Waynesburg, which fell to Bentworth, 1-0, on Tuesday in the semifinals, last qualified for the PIAA tournament in 2017 as the WPIAL Class 2A champion. Rastoka leads the Raiders with 25 goals. Fellow sophomore Emily Rafferty has scored 14 goals.
