Service points : The WPIAL championship match that didn’t materialize instead comes in the PIAA quarterfinals. Freeport rebounded from its WPIAL semifinal loss to Frazier with a 3-0 win (25-12, 25-10, 25-15) over District 9 champion Redbank Valley in the PIAA first round. The Yellowjackets won the PIAA championship last season, the first in school history, and is making its fourth state quarterfinal appearance in the last six seasons. Lampus, a junior, and seniors Ally DeJidas and Haley Graham were starters on the state championship team. North Catholic claimed its first WPIAL title in dominant fashion, 3-0 over Frazier, then followed that with a sweep (25-16, 25-10, 25-13) over District 5 champion North Star in the PIAA first round. Felix, a junior, had 18 kills in the WPIAL championship. She and older sister Alana, a senior, are Sacred Heart recruits; the pair transferred from Oakland Catholic to North Catholic in the offseason.
