Armstrong boys, Butler girls win regional bowling titles

The Armstrong boys and Butler girls captured titles Saturday at the Western Pennsylvania Regional team bowling tournament at Princess Lanes in Whitehall.
In the boys tournament, Armstrong defeated Butler, 2-1, in the championship match, edging the Golden Tornado, 192-160, in the final game.
Norwin, Ambridge, Hempfield and Franklin Regional also qualified for the stepladder playoffs and advanced to the state tournament next weekend, also at Princess Lanes.
In the girls tournament, Butler topped McDowell, 2-1, in the championship match. The Golden Tornado won the third game, 219-155.
Plum, Gateway, Montour and Chartiers Valley also advanced to the playoffs and qualified for the state tournament.
