Baldwin’s Abby Rexrode wins 3rd straight WPIAL all-around gymnastics title

Baldwin junior Abby Rexrode won her third straight all-around title at the WPIAL gymnastics championships Saturday at Moon, taking first place in three of the four events.

Rexrode, who won the vault, bars and floor and placed eighth in the beam, is the third gymnast to win three straight WPIAL titles. She joins Hopewell’s Kelly Burak (2010-12) and North Allegheny’s Jamie Davic (1993-95) and Angie Evans (1986-88) as three-time champs and will have a chance at an unprecedented fourth title next year.

Mt. Pleasant’s Olivia Kovach was the runner-up, winning the beam and placing second in the bars.

Oakland Catholic’s Madeliene Wingerter, Pine-Richland’s Nadia Constantakis, Moon’s Hayley Bates and North Allegheny’s Adriana Seese rounded out the top six.

Rexrode won the vault with a score of 9.775, finishing ahead of Bates (9.60) and North Allegheny’s Hannah Seidl (9.525). She won the bars with a 9.70, topping Kovach (9.50) and Wingerter (9.425). She had a score of 9.70 in the floor, outpacing Wingerter (9.55) and Bates (9.40).

Kovach won the beam with a a score of 9.575, finishing ahead of Constantakis (9.275) and Hampton’s Ella Lattimore (9.20).

West Allegheny’s Macey McKinney won the all-around in the Intermediate I division, finishing first in the beam, fourth in the bars and fifth in the floor.

North Catholic’s Abby Getch won the vault, OLSH’s Jordyn Kunselman finished first in the bars, and South Side’s Alayna Kelly took the floor.

Hopewell’s Marina Pinchioti won the all-around in the Intermediate II division, finishing second in the beam, seventh in the bars and ninth in the floor.

North Allegheny’s Sierra Dickert won the vault, Hempfield’s Ava Hickman the bars, West Allegheny’s Addyson Figley the beam and Beaver’s Rylie Teapole the floor.
