Player of the Year

Ryan Moessner, Sr., F, Bentworth

Perfection is attainable. Just ask Ryan Moessner.

The standout from Bentworth and his teammates put together an unscratched season, finishing 25-0 after winning their third consecutive WPIAL Class A boys soccer championship and first PIAA title.

Moessner was an offensive machine, scoring 56 goals and dishing out 42 assists to lead the high-powered Bearcats to another banner season.

For his efforts, and for the second consecutive season, he is the TribLive HSSN Boys Soccer Player of the Year.

The crafty forward ended his prep career as the all-time goals and assists leader at Bentworth with more than 100 in each category.

Moessner played through an ankle injury he sustained in the PIAA semifinals and helped guide the Bearcats to their first state championship with a 1-0 overtime victory against Delaware County Christian.

A three-time All-WPIAL player and two-time all-state pick, Moessner had 45 goals and 37 assists as a junior.

This year, he joined his brother, Adam Moessner, a sophomore, as a 50-goal scorer. Adam Moessner finished with 51 for a team that produced 180 (7.2 per game) and allowed nine.
