Last year’s Quaker Quiz proved to be a successful added feature at Quaker Valley baseball home games.

What is Quaker Quiz?

Spectators were asked a baseball-related question at mid-game; the first person to provide the correct answer at the press box received a prize.

Prizes included QV merchandise, gift cards to Sewickley area businesses and coupons for free food or drink at the QV baseball concession stand.

“The feedback was positive, so this year we decided to add theme nights,” said Collette Semonik, president of the QVHS baseball booster board. “Each night will be announced on X, Facebook and Instagram. We would love to see more students attend our games.

“The goal of the baseball boosters is to not only support our players and coaches in their efforts but to also ensure a fun, family-friendly environment for each home game. As part of that, we’ve tried to add a few things to encourage attendance and spectator participation.”

Weather permitting, theme nights for the 2026 season are:

• March 31: 1980s Night

• April 14: Luau Night

• April 20: Fiesta Night

“For these events, we will have food and music to follow the theme, and a limited number of giveaway items,” Semonik said. “For 1980s Night, we will distribute neon LED eyeglasses to the first 20 attendees. For Luau Night, it will be QV Hawaiian shirts. We’re unsure about Fiesta Night’s item at this time.

“All of these decisions are made by our QVHS baseball booster board. We hope these small but fun additions bring the students out and keep with our goal of making a game at the ballpark an affordable, family night out.”

QV’s baseball team plays its home games at Esmark Field at Bouchard Family Park, 1857 Camp Meeting Road, in Bell Acres, Sewickley. The field is located at the intersection of Camp Meeting Road and Fern Hollow Road.

“The location of our ballfield makes it more challenging for the general public to find us or even for students to get to after school,” Semonik said, “as opposed to soccer, track and football where their facilities are on the high school campus.”

By the way, the Quaker Quiz is still taking place at QV home games this season.

“If any local businesses are interested in donating items, coupons, etc., they can reach out to me at qvbaseballboosters@gmail.com,” Semonik said.
