Even though the Bushy Run American Legion baseball team suffered its first loss of the Pennsylvania state tournament on Tuesday, the Beavers are still playing for the state title on Wednesday.
By winning their first three games of the tournament, the Beavers already had clinched a spot in the championship game and a ticket to the Mid-Atlantic Regional beginning Aug. 6 at Hanover, Md.
Bristol used a four-run third inning in a do-or-die game and defeated Bushy Run, 5-2, at McDowell High School.
Bristol will now face Stripes & Strikes at 11:15 a.m., with the winner facing Bushy Run at 1:45 p.m.
Bushy Run grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning when, with two outs, Jake Sincak walked, Carmen Metcalfe singled and Brandon Rohrer followed with an RBI hit.
After falling behind 5-1, Bushy Run tacked on a second run in the fifth inning when Noah Rattigan tripled and scored on Sincak’s groundout.
Metcalfe had two hits for Bushy Run.
Mike Kramer and Nathan Ray had two hits, and Ryan Strazziere and Kramer hit doubles for Bristol.
Dom Ponzetti took the loss.
