The Bushy Run American Legion baseball team is headed to a place it has never been before: the Mid-Atlantic Regional in Ridge, Md.

Bushy Run ran its record to 3-0 in the Pennsylvania American Legion state tournament Monday at Erie McDowell by defeating North Parkland, 5-4.

No matter what happens the next two games, Bushy Run is advancing to another tournament.

Noah Rattigan drove in two runs in the top of the seventh inning, and relief pitcher Amari Thomas got the final out of the game, a bases-loaded lineout to shortstop Brody Hoffman.

Dylan Ridley drove in two runs, and Hoffman, Rattigan and Gigliotti each had two hits.

Jon Lovre was the starting pitcher and worked into the sixth inning. Jayden Kennedy pitched an inning before Thomas earned the save.

Bushy Run will face Bristol at 6:40 p.m. while North Parkland tangles with Stripes & Strikes at 3:40 p.m.

“We just have not made too many mistakes,” Bushy Run coach Scott Peyman said. “Our pitchers are not walking or hitting batters, and the defense is not making errors.

“There are some really good teams here. It is mind boggling. We keep finding ways to win.”

Stripes & Strikes defeated Connellsville, 2-0, and Bristol toppled Millcreek, 10-1.
