Bushy Run walks off Connellsville

Carmen Metcalfe was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, and Bushy Run defeated Connellsville, 2-1, in the winners’ bracket at the Pennsylvania American Legion state tournament at Erie McDowell.
The victory puts Bushy Run against North Parkland at 6:40 p.m. on Monday. North Parkland defeated Bristol, 2-1.
Bushy Run took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Jake Sincak walked and scored on a triple by Metcalfe.
Connellsville tied the score in the top of the seventh inning. Gradin Hodge walked. Pinch-runner Mason Miller ran for Hodge and swiped second. Ethan Porreca singled to move Miller to third, and Miller scored when Grayden Gillott hit into a double play.
In the bottom of seventh inning, relief pitcher Alex Van Sickle retired the first two batters.
Caleb Kerstetter singled and moved to third on a single by Brody Hoffman. Sincak walked to load the bases, and Metcalfe was hit on a 1-1 pitch.
Hoffman had a double and single. Gillott had a double and single for Connellsville.
In other action, North Parkland scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-run single by Leo Dauberman to defeat Bristol.
Millcreek defeated French Creek Valley, 2-1, in a losers’ bracket game. Stripes & Strikes defeated Paxton, 7-4.
