Canon-McMillan wrestlers claim Tri-County ADA title

Canon-McMillan ran away with the Tri-County Athletic Director Association’s tournament Sunday at West Greene.
The Big Macs finished with 288.5 points and had five champions: Lee Dreshman (107 pounds), Giono Gardner (127), Jon Emma (133), Collier Hartman (145) and Bryce Collins (189).
Brayden Collins (215) placed second.
Trinity finished second with 219.5 points, and McGuffey was third with 186.5.
Trinity had one champion — Jackson Hoy (114) — and four second-place finishers.
McGuffey had two champions: Tucker Main (121) and Lucas Barr (139).
Other winners were Frazier’s Jonah Erdely (152), Bentworth’s Owen Ivcic (160), Jefferson-Morgan’s Alek Palko (172), Beth-Center’s Noah Layhue (215) and West Greene’s Colin Whyte (285).
Plum takes 2nd
Mifflinburg blew away the competition in winning the Bo Wood tournament at Indiana High School.
It finished with 208.5 points and three champions.
Plum was second with 136 points.
Owen Campbell (152) and heavyweight Frank Grazulis were the Mustangs winners.
Other WPIAL champions were Seneca Valley’s Riley Smith (107) and Zach Hill (145), Highlands’ Javeon Chambers (114), Penn Hills’ Daemon Phipps (121), West Mifflin’s Lashawn Haley (127) and Cooper Dietz (160) and Chartiers Valley’s Michael Lawrence (172).
Coming up
There are three big tournaments this week.
The oldest tournament in the state will take place at Greensburg Salem High School. The 73rd Westmoreland County Coaches’ Association tournament, featuring the top Class 3A and 2A teams in the WPIAL, begins Friday.
The other big tournaments are the Burgettstown Invitational and the Mid-Winter Mayhem at Indiana’s Kovalchick Arena.
