Deer Lakes should have a new football coach by the end of the month.

The district called a special board meeting for 7 p.m. July 30 in the high school library for personnel discussions. That will include the potential hiring of a new football coach, athletic director Chuck Bellisario said.

Former coach Steve Sciullo resigned in May after getting hired to a full-time staff position at Hampton. Sciullo went 11-26 with one playoff appearance in four seasons with the Lancers.

In Sciullo’s absence, assistant coaches have been leading the team through offseason workouts.
