Derry’s John Kerr signs with Penn State for volleyball

Derry two-sport standout John Kerr will play Division I college volleyball.
Kerr, a 6-foot-6 senior middle hitter, signed a letter of intent to play at Penn State. He also had interest from St. Francis (Pa.), as well as several smaller schools for basketball, including Penn State Behrend.
Kerr was dominant at times at the net for the Trojans as he amassed 1,012 kills, 111 blocks, 330 digs and 33 aces in his volleyball career, which included all-section and All-WPIAL honors.
Kerr also was good for double-doubles in basketball. Last season, he averaged 16.9 points, 11.9 rebounds and 5.6 blocks. Had 17 blocks in a game at Freeport.
