T.J. Banks celebrated his birthday with a football scholarship.
The East Allegheny star committed to West Virginia after Wednesday's practice, ending a months-long recruiting effort to land the four-star tight end.
“It's a good fit for him,” Pecora said. “I don't expect him to change his mind. I wouldn't advise it. I'm not surprised by the decision.”
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound senior drew 17 scholarship offers with West Virginia, Illinois and Temple considered his favorites. Banks also recently visited Central Florida and at times mentioned Maryland as an option.
Rivals ranks him as the 15th-best tight end recruit in the country.
Banks plays wideout and defensive end for East Allegheny, which is ranked fifth in WPIAL Class 2A. He leads the team with 31 receptions for 416 yards and five touchdowns.
