Familiar foes Seneca Valley, Peters Township to square off in WPIAL girls soccer final

Players to watch: Breana Valentovish, Jr., F, Seneca Valley; Hannah Stuck, Sr., F/M, Peters Township
Corner kicks: Peters Township could be without leading scorer Regan Lavigna, a Youngstown State recruit who missed the semifinal victory over Norwin with a lower leg injury. She was on crutches on the sidelines. Stuck, a Bucknell recruit, scored 15 goals this season for Peters Township. The Indians are chasing their third WPIAL title after winning in 2010 and ‘12. LaVigna and Stuck each scored in a 2-1 win over Butler in the quarterfinals. Freshman Jillian Marvin scored the lone goal in the semifinal win over Norwin. … Seneca Valley has won four WPIAL championships, the latest coming in 2014. The Raiders defeated Peters Township, 1-0, to win the 2013 championship and 2-1 to win the 2009 title. The Indians defeated SV, 2-1, in 2012. Mia Zec scored twice as Seneca Valley defeated Upper St. Clair, 2-0, in the semifinals. Valentovish scored 17 goals in the regular season for the Raiders.
Coming up: The winner will play the District 3 runner-up, and the losing team faces the District 6 or 10 champion in the PIAA tournament opening round Tuesday.
