The first WPIAL postseason tournament for the spring season is now on hold for 24 hours.
The first three rounds of the 2025 boys singles tennis championships originally scheduled for Tuesday have been bumped back to Wednesday because of the cold forecast.
One interesting aspect of this year’s Class 3A bracket is that both defending WPIAL champions from a year ago are in the same class thanks to realignment.
Last spring, then-freshman Adaita Sircar from North Allegheny won the Class 3A singles title while then-junior Severin Harmon from Sewickley Academy took home the gold in Class 2A.
Sewickley Academy moved up to 3A for this two-year cycle, and both are on opposite sides of the bracket with Sircar as the top seed and Harmon as the No. 7 seed.
The first round, quarterfinals and semifinals are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. Wednesday. The championship and consolation finals are Thursday at Bethel Park.
Here are all of the opening round matches.
