Fox Chapel alumni notebook: Wrestling ref Patrick Frank works national title match

Patrick Frank, who graduated from Fox Chapel in 1998, refereed the 141-pound title match during the NCAA Division I championships in March in Phialdelphia.
Ohio State’s Jesse Mendez, who was the No. 3 seed, upset top-seeded Brock Hardy of Nebraska by winning a 12-9 decision.
Frank, who was inducted into the Fox Chapel Sports Hall of Fame in 2022, was the school’s all-time winningest wrestler at the time of his graduation. He earned a total of eight varsity letters in cross country, baseball and wrestling.
Monteverde up to Triple-A
Fox Chapel graduate Patrick Monteverde was called up to the Triple-A Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on April 1. The Jumbo Shrimp are an affiliate of the Miami Marlins.
Monteverde, who was an eighth-round draft pick by the Marlins in 2021, has a 22-17 record with a 4.32 ERA across his five seasons in the minors.
This season, Monteverde has made only one appearance, throwing 2 1/3 innings and allowing four runs.
Initially, Monteverde was assigned to the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos on March 28. During Monteverde’s career, he has racked up a number of personal accolades. He was chosen for the Futures Game in 2023 while in Pensacola and was a Southern League postseason all-star in 2023.
Troutman shines
Fox Chapel graduate Anna Troutman is making the most out of her opportunities to compete as a freshman for Lehigh. Troutman set a PR in the high jump at the Monmouth Season Opener. She finished with a leap of 1.65 meters to place fourth.
Troutman also competed in the 100 meter hurdles and ran a time of 15.67 seconds.
