Shady Side Academy graduate Skyy Moore was traded to the San Francisco 49ers on Aug. 20. The former Bulldog spent his first three seasons in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, winning Super Bowl championships in 2022 and 2023.
Moore’s best production as a professional came during his rookie season. Moore caught 22 passes for 250 yards.
Moore appeared in six games for the Chiefs last season and didn’t play in the playoffs. Moore was a star in college at Western Michigan.
Valdez heads to Ireland
Fox Chapel resident Adrian Valdez opened up the football season with The Kiski School in unique fashion. The Cougars played their season opener Aug. 22 in Dublin, Ireland, against the Irish Junior Wolfhounds.
Valdez plays defensive back for The Kiski School.
Players to watch
Fox Chapel’s Emily McKee and Cassie Classen were named to the preseason watchlist for the 2024 Moe Rosensteel Player of the Year award.
Shady Side Academy’s Maria Ravotti was also named to the watchlist. Ravotti has committed to play at Providence next season.
North of the border
Carson Kittsley finished in a four-way tie for fifth place at the 61st Williamson Cup, which was played at the Quebec Golf Association at Le Club Laval Sur Le Lac in early August. Kittsley shot 1-over par 72 in the first round and a 75 in the second round to finish with a score of 147.
Kittsley played as part of a team from the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association. The WPGA team placed fifth overall.
