Four soccer players from Fox Chapel recently competed in the U.S. Youth Soccer championships with their club teams in Frisco, Texas, from July 23-29.

This tournament includes some of the most prestigious and best competition in American youth soccer.

Seniors Kate Feczko and Sarah Sinnott, a Pitt recruit, both played for Century V Gold in the U18 age group. Lucy Ream and Emma Wecht, both sophomores, played for North United Rush in the U16 age group.

Century V Gold went 0-2-1 in tournament play, while North United Rush was 1-2. Sinnott scored two goals for CVG as did Shady Side Academy senior Krystyna Rytel.

CVG lost to Legends FC South, 3-2, on July 24. The following day, they tied Princeton SA (N.J.), 1-1 and then lost to CD Premier, 5-2, on July 26.

NUR opened bracket play with a 4-2 win over Fullerton on July 24 and then lost to SJEB Rush (N.J.), 1-0, on July 25. They then fell to USA02 Premier (Utah), 2-1, on July 26.

The tournament was the end of a year-long competition that began with more than 185,000 players on more than 10,000 teams. The top eight teams in each age group qualified for the trip to nationals.
