For high school athletes, there might not be a better feeling than the moment they receive their first scholarship offer to play their sport at the collegiate level.

On Tuesday, Fox Chapel’s Sam Brown got to experience that feeling when Dayton came through with his first offer. Brown announced the offer on Twitter.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound, running back and linebacker was a key contributor for the Foxes last season. He was the team’s leading rusher with 530 yards and seven touchdowns on 107 carries. During their matchup with Connellsville, Brown set a season-high mark of 154 yards on 26 carries and found the end zone four times. The rising senior also caught 11 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown last year.

Brown was just as big for the Foxes on the defensive side of the ball. He was third on the team in tackles with 51, he registered 10 tackles for a loss, led the team in sacks with four and also picked off a pass.
