Fox Chapel’s Harran Zureikat, the No. 1-ranked kicker in the country by Kohl’s Kicking Camps, made a verbal commitment Thursday to Georgia.

The five-star rising senior chose the Bulldogs of the Southeastern Conference over offers from Pitt, Penn State, Akron, Boston College and Maryland.

He received the offer from Georgia two days earlier, after he worked out for head coach Kirby Smart.

Kohl’s Kicking also ranks Zureikat as the No. 4 punter nationally.

Last fall, the kid who Foxes coach Dave Leisure called a generational talent averaged 59.7 yards on kickoffs, registering 24 touchbacks. He averaged 35.8 yards per punt with a long of 54.

He connected on five field goals, his longest from 44 yards, and did not miss an extra point.

Zureikat, who played his first two seasons at Shady Side Academy, is the second big leg from the WPIAL to make an SEC commitment in two years. Last year, Peter Notaro of North Allegheny committed to Alabama.
