Frazier & Beth-Center Each 1-0 After Geibel Forfeits First Two Football Games

Beth-Center has joined Frazier with 1-0 records even though the 2012 football season hasn't even started. Three days before the high school football throughout the state kicks off, the Commodores have been awarded a forfeit victory over Geibel for Week 1 and the Bulldogs have a forfeit win over the Gators for Week 2 after preseason injuries hit an already small Gators roster hard.

Geibel has had it's share of hard time over the last decade and a half, including the WPIAL's longest losing streak until West Shamokin broke that record last year.

The Gators have battled seriously low roster numbers several seasons this century, but had only 15 players at the start of practice on August 13th. That was down 8 players from last years team finished 1-8 but graduated 14 seniors.

School officials say several players were injured in Friday's tri-scrimmage with Mapletown and Wilkinsburg, but the seriousness of those injuries wasn't known until Monday, leaving the Gators with only 10 healthy players.

The WPIAL has allowed Geibel to take it week by week to see if they are healthy enough to play rather than forfeiting the whole season before it even starts.  The Gators are set to host first year program Vincentian Academy in Week 3 on Saturday, September 15th. School officials hope that some new players and some injured players will be ready to go by then.
