Gateway girls prepare for postseason run

The Gateway girls basketball team capped the regular season last week and is preparing for a postseason run.
Gateway (19-3) finished the regular season ranked No. 3 in Class 5A by the Tribune-Review behind Trinity (18-3) and Thomas Jefferson (19-3).
The Gators were scheduled to learn their playoff opponent at the WPIAL pairings meeting Tuesday night, after deadline for this edition.
The Gators have won 11 consecutive games, including a 40-34 victory over Fox Chapel on Friday.
Jordan Edwards had 16 points, and Lexi Jackson scored 10 for the Gators.
They also defeated West Mifflin, 49-31, in the section finale last week to finish 8-2 and in second place in Section 2 behind Thomas Jefferson (9-1).
Gateway split with Thomas Jefferson, including a 48-47 win on Jan. 23. The Gators only other losses were to Oakland Catholic, 39-32, in a section game Jan. 11, and a 59-51 loss to Class 6A Latrobe at the Betsy Invitational at Elizabeth Forward on Dec. 27.
