Gateway quarterback Brady Walker, the second-leading passer in WPIAL history, announced his commitment Tuesday to West Virginia Wesleyan.

The Buckhannon, W.Va., school competes in the Mountain East Conference of NCAA Division II. Walker picked the Bobcats over offers from Clarion, Seton Hill, Fairmont State, Glenville State and West Virginia State.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound senior was named as the state’s Class 5A player of the year this past season after he passed for 4,657 yards and 45 touchdowns and led Gateway to a runner-up finish in the PIAA championship game.

Walker will graduate with 8,816 career passing yards, second most on the WPIAL career list. He trails only South Fayette’s Brett Brumbaugh, who finished with 11,084 as a senior in 2014.

West Virginia Wesleyan had two former WPIAL players on its roster last season, then-senior Ryan Gumbita of Mt. Pleasant and redshirt-freshman Marc Dunlap of Bethel Park.
