After losing their 2013 season opener this past Friday 81-0, Geibel High School will forfeit their Week Two game on Friday at Beth-Center.
This marks the second year in a row the Gators will forfeit their second game against the Tri-County South powerhouse Bulldogs. Because of low numbers a year ago, Geibel forfeited their first two games of the season against Frazier and Beth-Center before being able to finish out the schedule with seven straight losses.
This year, there were 16 players on the Geibel roster prior to their season opener at Frazier on Friday, however a couple of injuries and a possible concussion to one of the Gators left them with 13 healthy players at halftime against the Commodores. Already trailing 81-0 after two quarters, Geibel coach Pete Nace, Frazier coach Mike Steeber and game officials agreed to put only 1 minute on the game clock for both the third and fourth quarters. The Commodores took four knees and the game was history.
Beth-Center football coach Ed Woods confirmed the forfeit win that moves the Bulldogs to 2-0 in the TCS and said school officials are doing a last minute search to find an opponent for the Bulldogs this weekend.
