Norwin senior Rachel Lundy is setting the pace so far on the girls side in the WPIBL.

Through her team’s first two games, she rolled a high game of 255 and a high series of 641, and her 213.67 average ranked No. 1 leaguewide.

She is a key piece of the game plan as the Knights hope to battle for a playoff spot in the Center section against the likes of East Allegheny and McKeesport.

Last year, Lundy clinched her spot at states with a third-place finish in the qualifier round at the Western Regional Championships. After an uncharacteristic 126 in Game 1 which had her in second to last, she rallied. Her 242 in Game 4 was the centerpiece of the 959 five-game series.

In the stepladder finals, Lundy made it all the way to the championship match where she suffered a 223-202 loss to Plum’s Shannon Small.

Of the 12 girls from Western Region who bowled at states, four were from the WPIBL. Lundy battled through the pressure in the six-game series and tallied a high game of 239 in Game 5.

That helped her secure a 1,173 series which averaged out to a 195.5 per-game average.

The trip to states last March was her second overall as she placed 18th as a freshman in 2016.
