The Greensburg Central Catholic-Clairton football game will be played at 7 p.m. Friday at Clairton’s Neil C. Brown Stadium instead of noon Saturday at Thomas Jefferson Stadium as previously scheduled.

A $6.6 million renovation project is planned for Clairton’s home field, but athletic director Alexis Trubiani said work on the field will not begin until next week.

Initial plans were for work to begin in March, based on funding for the project.

Clairton has not played a home game yet this season. Friday will be its senior night.

Neil C. Brown Stadium, which opened in the early 1930s, is expected to get artificial turf and new lights, as well as updates to locker rooms, bleachers, restrooms and other repairs.

The Bears’ remaining home games will be played at Thomas Jefferson: noon Sept. 28 vs. Jeannette; noon Oct. 19 vs. Riverview; and 7 p.m. Oct. 25 vs. Brentwood.
