DeNunzios win WPGA event
Greensburg Country Club’s Ronald and David DeNunzio shot a 3-under-par 68 on Friday to win the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association’s 76th Brothers Tournament at Shannopin Country Club.
Kittanning’s Maddox and Jace Rearic finished second, shooting a 2-under 69, while Nick and Alex Turowski of Hannastown Golf Club, Brian and Kevin Fajt of Hannastown and Neal and Brian Mechling of Edgewood tied for third at 1-under 70.
It was the fourth time the DeNunzio brothers have won the event. They also won in 2011, 2013 and 2014.
“We know each other’s games so well,” Ronald DeNunzio told WPGA’s Josh Roundtree. “We try our best to be patient with each other. That’s such a big thing in team format. We never get too upset with each other. Whatever happens, happens. And it worked out.”
The DeNunzio twins played a bogey-free round with three birdies on the card in the Chapman format event.
