Hampton’s Gabby Elk went back to back and Derry’s Jake Hauser continued his climb up the podium all the way to the top at the WPIAL Class 2A diving championships Friday at North Allegheny.

Elk, a junior, won the girls competition for the second straight season, finishing with a score of 444.25, ahead of Quaker Valley’s Ruby Olliffe (431.95). Elk is the ninth girls diver in WPIAL history to repeat as champion in Class 2A.

Hauser became Derry’s first diving champion with a score of 405.45, outdistancing second-place Matthew Blystone of Indiana (339.10). A senior, Hauser’s WPIAL finishes improved from sixth as a freshman to third as a sophomore to second as a junior before Friday’s championship.
