How about some music? Or cats? Is it time for a good book? It’s the season for cozy interests to take over — and there are plenty of festivities to celebrate them this weekend around Westmoreland County.

Summer concert series

We didn’t see the total end of free summer concert series with the passing of Labor Day. Free concerts are still going on at Twin Lakes Park, such as the one that will be held Saturday night.

At 6:30 p.m., Lone Crow Rebellion will take the stage, and at 8:30 p.m., The Shiners are on to rock the park. Poulich Pit BBQ will be there to provide delicious food to concertgoers.

Concerts take place rain or shine at the Brian T. Rusnock Amphitheater in the Peach Plaza Expansion Area, across from 1087 Georges Station Road, near Greensburg. To see more, visit westmorelandcountypa.gov.

Book festival

Bring your favorite read to The Westmoreland Museum of American Art this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. — or venture over to find something new! The museum’s book festival will give patrons the opportunity to explore books with a sale in their bookstore, cozy reading nooks set up in the galleries and the chance to check out some books that they’ve paired with specific artworks in their collection.

Leslie Bowman, author of children’s book “Dream Our World,” will also be in attendance.

The museum is located at 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. Pre-registration is available, but anyone can come in — and the event is free. Get more details at thewestmoreland.org.

The Oak Ridge Boys

Longtime country music mainstays The Oak Ridge Boys will be hanging it up after half a century of making music. On Friday night at 7 p.m., the country music hall of famers will come to the Palace Theatre in Greensburg one last time.

There will also be a food drive held before the show, with non-perishable food items to be donated to the Westmoreland Food Bank. Tickets for the show range from $63 to $125.

The Palace Theatre is located at 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. To learn more about the band and get tickets, visit thepalacetheatre.org.

Fort Ligonier gallery talk

There’s a real story behind the monarchs behind “Bridgerton.” This weekend, learn more about them at Fort Ligonier.

King George III and Queen Charlotte married on Sept. 8, 1761. Celebrate with special educational gallery talks, a chance to see Queen Charlotte’s portrait and a special limited edition white rum sale from Wigle Whiskey.

The festivities are included with regular admission to Fort Ligonier, which can be found at 200 S. Market St., Ligonier. Special event and rum sale will occur on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more at fortligonier.org.

For the love of cats

Not only is this exhibit a chance to look at paintings of cats, it’s a chance to adopt one, too! The Feral Cat Painters Gallery, along with others, will present this exhibition of kitty-themed artwork.

In addition to the artwork, there will be specialty drinks and even adoptable cats on hand. It’s a chance to help local artists and feline friends all at once.

The event will take place Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg.
