Zach Feldman dropped 17 points to lead Penn-Trafford to a 57-43 nonsection boys basketball victory over Thomas Jefferson on Wednesday, ending a seven-game winning streak for the Jaguars.
Jacob Briggs added 11 points for the Warriors (7-9). Justin Fry scored 17, Nick Trklja added 11 and Kane Eggerton finished with 10 for Thomas Jefferson (16-2).
Avella 67, Mapletown 23 – Bryce Wright scored 14 points, including his 1,000th career point, as Avella (12-3) defeated Mapletown (0-16) in nonsection play. Brayden Fuller led all scorers with 17 points and Brayden Davis added 14 for the Eagles. Kaleb Evosevich paced the Maples with 10 points.
Carrick 65, Yough 47 – Treshawn Beasley scored 14 points and Devonia Phillips followed with 11 for Carrick (10-7) in a nonsection win. Hayden Smith posted 16 points while Tyler Smith and Wyatt Kalna each had 11 points for Yough (2-14).
Clairton 82, Serra Catholic 59 – Brandon Murphy Jr. and Michael Ruffin each scored 15 points and Taris Wooding posted 12 to power Clairton (12-1) to a nonsection win. Kris Sharp dropped 20 points to pace Serra Catholic (9-6).
North Catholic 71, Burrell 45 – Jason Frederick put up 26 points while Tom Rottmann and Brandon Pickett scored 13 points apiece as North Catholic (12-4, 5-2) beat Burrell (8-9, 4-4) in Section 1-4A. Sam Conte produced 15 points and Adam Wass added 10 for the Bucs.
Northgate 66, Leechburg 52 – Des Williams scored 24 points and Jaivon Hardison added 17 to lead Northgate (4-11, 3-4) to a Section 2-2A win. Tim Skeel scored 15, Rocco Vigna had 13 and Mason Scitticat chipped in 10 for Leechburg (3-14, 1-7).
Riverside 54, West Middlesex 44 – Cole Becker scored 17 points and Logan Young followed with 16 to lead Riverside (12-5) to a nonsection win. Nolan Golub made three 3-pointers and led West Middlesex with 17 points.
Sewickley Academy 92, Brentwood 30 – Connor Tull put up 15 points, Mamadou Kane and Adam Ikamba added 14 points apiece, Drew Steals followed with 13 and Ja’Mere Guyton had 10 for Sewickley Academy (13-0, 8-0) in a Section 2-2A win. Deng Mu produced 17 points for Brentwood (8-9, 3-5).
Girls basketball
Penn-Trafford 59, Franklin Regional 42 – Torrie DeStefano made four 3-pointers and finished with 15 points, Raya Johnson also scored 15 points and Hanna Weishaar added 12 as Penn-Trafford (13-3) defeated Franklin Regional (7-9) in nonsection play. Alyssa Bridges, Gemma Sadowski and Katherine Yaniga scored 11 points apiece for the Panthers.
Seton LaSalle 57, Carrick 34 – Ava Maroney scored 11 points and Addy Dears followed with 10 to power Seton LaSalle (11-6) to a nonsection win. Jocelyn Fisher led all scorers with 18 points for Carrick (11-4).
