Matt Sieg became the WPIAL’s all-time leader in total yardage and did so in a big way Friday night.
The Penn State-bound senior ran for 270 yards and three touchdowns and scored on a 55-yard punt return and an 86-yard interception return to lift top-ranked Fort Cherry to a 56-19 victory over No. 3 Bishop Canevin (5-3, 3-1) in a Class A Black Hills Conference football game Friday night.
With 11,798 yards, Sieg surpassed Sto-Rox’s Lenny Williams (11,559 yards in 2014) for the WPIAL lead in combined passing and rushing yardage. He has thrown for 4,634 yards and rushed for 7,164 yards. He also extended his WPIAL record for career touchdowns (128).

Class 6A
North Allegheny 21, Canon-McMillan 13 — Brady Brinkley threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns as No. 2 North Allegheny (7-1, 4-1) defeated No. 5 Canon-McMillan (4-4, 2-2) in Class 6A. Luke Rohan added 109 rushing yards and a touchdown as coach Art Walker earned his 200th victory at North Allegheny. Ty Jansma tossed for 154 yards and a touchdown for Canon-McMillan.
Class 5A
Moon 40, Baldwin 7 — In the Allegheny Six Conference, Moon (5-3, 2-1) defeated Baldwin (0-7, 0-2).
Peters Township 31, South Fayette 7 — Nolan DiLucia threw for 246 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 2 Peters Township (8-0, 3-0) to the Allegheny Six Conference win at South Fayette (5-3, 1-2).
Kiski Area 27, Armstrong 25 — Landy Artman threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns for Kiski Area (4-4, 3-2) in its Big East Conference win against Armstrong (3-5, 2-2). Ashton Taylor ran for two scores, and Aven Shirley and Teegan Shirley each caught TD passes for the Cavaliers. Max Zablocki returned a fumble 32 yards for a score, and Quinn Olsen returned a kickoff 86 yards for Armstrong.
Woodland Hills 42, Gateway 28 — Scoop Smith caught six passes for 103 yards and scored on a 73-yard run and a 70-yard kickoff return as No. 3 Woodland Hills (6-2, 4-0) defeated Gateway (2-6, 2-3) in the Big East Conference. Cam Walter threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns for Woodland Hills. Mayson Mitchell threw for 209 yards and Julian Dancear rushed for 137 yards and a touchdown for Gateway.
Shaler 17, North Hills 14 — In the Northeast Conference, Aaron Aversa threw for 130 yards and a touchdown and ran for one TD as Shaler (2-6, 2-1) defeated North Hills (2-6, 2-2).
Class 4A
Belle Vernon 48, Laurel Highlands 6 — Curtis Wade ran for 101 yards and three touchdowns as Belle Vernon (2-5, 1-2) beat Laurel Highlands (2-6, 0-3) in the Big Six Conference. Chace Petrosky added two rushing touchdowns.
Hampton 38, Knoch 0 — Jack Halli threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns as Hampton (4-4, 2-1) shut out Knoch (0-8, 0-3) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Willy Haselrig caught five passes for 107 yards and Evan McAneny ran for three touchdowns for Hampton.
West Mifflin 42, Indiana 7 — Armand Hill ran for 180 yards and three touchdowns as West Mifflin (2-6, 1-2) beat Indiana (3-5, 1-2) in the Greater Allegheny Conference.
Aliquippa 34, Blackhawk 17 — In the Parkway Conference, J.J. Work rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns as No. 4 Aliquippa (5-2, 2-1) beat Blackhawk (3-5, 1-2). Jack Chevalier threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns for Blackhawk.
Montour 55, Ambridge 21 — Brandon Bennett ran for 134 yards and one touchdown as Montour (5-3, 2-1) beat Ambridge (1-7, 0-3) in the Parkway Conference. Zander Stern scored on interception and fumble returns for Montour. DJ Cain ran for 135 yards and two touchdowns for Ambridge.
West Allegheny 24, New Castle 14 — Brodie Cornell rushed for 145 yards and three touchdowns as West Allegheny (3-4, 2-1) surprised No. 3 New Castle (6-2, 2-1) in the Parkway Conference. Marino Graham threw for 145 yards and both New Castle touchdowns.
Class 3A
East Allegheny 16, Valley 10 — Chris Portis scored on a 12-yard pass from Cedric Mack and on a 50-yard punt return as East Allegheny (2-6, 2-3) defeated Valley (0-8, 0-4) in an Allegheny 7 Conference game. Raymond Loury caught a 6-yard TD pass from Skylar Lincoln for Valley.
Imani Christian 56, Deer Lakes 14 — Gabe Jenkins threw for five touchdowns and ran for another to lead No. 2 Imani Christian (8-0, 4-0) to the Allegheny 7 Conference win at Deer Lakes (1-7, 0-4). Daniel Stephens caught three TD passes. Evan Moore caught a TD pass from Dante Mangieri, and Ryan Love scored on a 1-yard TD run for the Lancers.
Avonworth 49, McGuffey 0 — Top-ranked Avonworth (8-0, 4-0) blanked McGuffey (0-8, 0-5) in Western Hills Conference play.
Central Valley 63, Quaker Valley 21 — Braddock Ambrose threw for 132 yards and one touchdown and ran for a TD as No. 5 Central Valley (4-4, 4-1) defeated Quaker Valley (3-5, 0-4) in a Western Hills Conference game. Ethan Shearer ran for two touchdowns for Central Valley, which led at the half, 49-0.
North Catholic 49, Beaver 42 — Jackson Schade scored on a 10-yard run in overtime as North Catholic (6-2, 3-1) beat Beaver (4-4, 2-2) in Western Hills Conference play. Joe Felitsky threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns for North Catholic while teammate Nate Swisher rushed for 105 yards and one TD. Travis Clear threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns for Beaver.
Class 2A
South Park 42, Ligonier Valley 21 — Quintin Napper ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns and returned a kickoff 80 yards for a TD to lead South Park (4-4, 1-3) to the Allegheny Conference win at Ligonier Valley (1-7, 0-4). Levi Fouse rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns for Ligonier Valley.
Keystone Oaks 21, Waynesburg Central 14 — Owen Gearhart rushed for 200 yards and two touchdowns to lead Keystone Oaks (4-4, 4-1) over Waynesburg Central (3-5, 1-3) in a Century Conference game. Teagan Crouse threw for 197 yards and a touchdown for Waynesburg Central.
Sto-Rox 8, Carlynton 6 – Sto-Rox (1-7, 1-4) got its first win of the season by edging Carlynton (1-7, 0-4) in a Century Conference contest.
Washington 61, Charleroi 9 — Tristan Reed tossed for 167 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing TD as No. 5 Washington (7-1, 4-0) downed Charleroi (1-7, 1-3) in Century Conference play.
Beaver Falls 39, New Brighton 24 — Christian Dawkins ran for 180 yards and three touchdowns and Xavier Clark rushed for 130 yards and one TD as Beaver Falls (4-4, 4-1) beat New Brighton (5-3, 2-3) in Midwestern Athletic Conference play.
Ellwood City 48, Riverside 14 — Tyler Smiley threw for 297 yards and five touchdowns to lead Ellwood City (4-4, 3-2) to the Midwestern Athletic Conference win over Riverside (4-4, 3-2). Domenic Dinucci caught three passes for 106 yards and a touchdown for Ellwood City. Mason Holler ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns for Riverside.
Freedom 20, Union 14 — In the Midwestern Athletic Conference, Kaden Bailey rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 74-yard scoring pass from Karter Brown as Freedom (4-4, 2-3) defeated Union (0-7, 0-5). Gianni Million ran for 117 yards for Union.
Mohawk 40, Western Beaver 20 — Bobby Fadden threw for one touchdown and returned an interception 35 yards for another as Mohawk (3-5, 2-3) upset No. 3 Western Beaver (7-1, 4-1) in the Midwestern Athletic Conference. Cash Stratton added two rushing touchdowns for Mohawk. Amari Marshall threw for 168 yards and one touchdown and ran for 193 yards and two TDs for Western Beaver.
Class A
Laurel 42, Shenango 0 — In the Big 7 Conference, Luca Santini threw for 125 yards and two touchdowns as No. 4 Laurel (7-1, 4-0) shut out Shenango (3-5, 2-3). Laurel limited Shenango to 38 total yards.
Northgate 22, Summit Academy 12 – Northgate improved to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the Big 7 Conference with a win over visiting Summit Academy (1-7, 1-3).
South Side 35, Neshannock 7 — In the Big 7 Conference, Anthony Corfield ran for 256 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 5 South Side (7-1, 4-0) to victory at Neshannock (5-2, 2-1). Amare Moman added 106 rushing yards for South Side. Jino Mozzocio threw for 115 yards and scored on a 60-yard run for Neshannock.
Chartiers-Houston 35, Serra Catholic 0 — Aaron Walsh ran for 113 yards and Dominic Andreolli added 106 rushing yards and one touchdown as Chartiers-Houston (5-3, 3-2) beat Serra Catholic (1-7, 0-4) in Black Hills Conference play.
Monessen 40, Burgettstown 21 — Tavian Taylor ran for 94 yards and a touchdown as Monessen (5-3, 2-2) beat Burgettstown (1-5, 0-4) in the Black Hills Conference. Kayden Kolbeck, Kezjere Butler and Daniel Towler all had interception returns for touchdowns, and Michcael Hines returned a kickoff 88 yards for a score for the Greyhounds.
Greensburg Central Catholic 52, Springdale 14 — Samir Crosby scored three first-quarter touchdowns as Greensburg Central Catholic (4-4, 2-3) defeated Springdale (0-6, 0-4) in Eastern Conference play. The Centurions led 45-0 at halftime. Crosby scored twice on runs, caught a TD pass and threw a touchdown pass. R.J. Landis and Corey Brooks ran for touchdowns for Springdale.
Jeannette 23, Brentwood 18 — Kymon’e Brown threw for 149 yards and a touchdown and ran for 128 yards and a 29-yard score as Jeannette (5-3, 3-2) beat Brentwood (2-5, 1-3) in Eastern Conference play. Cedric Davis. Jr. threw for 102 yards and one touchdown and ran for 128 yards and another TD for Brentwood.
Bentworth 35, Jefferson-Morgan 13 — Bentworth (6-2, 4-1) beat Jefferson-Morgan (7-1, 4-1) in a Tri-County South showdown.
Beth-Center 48, Mapletown 0 — Brody Bebout threw for 155 yards and a touchdown as Beth-Center (2-6, 2-3) blanked Mapletown (1-7, 0-5) in the Tri-County South.
California 50, West Greene 0 — Malachi Peak ran for 150 yards and three touchdowns to lead California (7-1, 5-0) to the Tri-County South win over West Greene (1-7, 1-4). Landon Abercrombie added two rushing touchdowns.
Carmichaels 14, Avella 13 — In the Tri-County South, Will Murray ran for two first-half touchdowns as Carmichaels (2-5, 1-4) upset Avella (7-1, 4-2). Charles Rush threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns to Bryce Wright for Avella.
Nonconference
Cornell 45, Rochester 8 — Khylil Johnson ran for 242 yards and four touchdowns and scored on a 50-yard fumble return to lead Cornell (5-3) to the nonconference shutout against Rochester (0-7).
Penn Hills 19, Mt. Lebanon 14 — Jayshon Taylor hit Carter Bonner with two touchdown passes as Class 5A Penn Hills (3-5) beat Class 6A Mt. Lebanon (1-7). Pat Smith threw for 180 yards and a touchdown in the loss.
Pine-Richland 43, Latrobe 7 — Khalil Taylor caught two TD passes from Aaron Strader and returned a punt 67 yards for another touchdown as Class 5A No. 1 Pine-Richland (7-1) beat Latrobe (2-6) in nonconference play. Strader added two rushing touchdowns. Sawyer Butina caught a 49-yard TD pass from Dom Scarton for the Wildcats.

Albert Gallatin 40, Hesgeville, W.Va. 14 — Adam Pegg rushed for 160 yards and two touchdowns and Tee Guesman ran for 101 yards and three TDs as Albert Gallatin (8-0) bead Hedgesville, W.Va. (0-6) in nonconference play. Bronx Jamison added 141 rushing yards and a touchdown for Albert Gallatin.
Northern Garrett, Md. 38, Uniontown 0 — Northern Garrett, Md. (3-3) blanked Uniontown (2-6) in a nonconference game.
