High school football roundup for Oct. 24, 2025: North Catholic locks up playoff spot with win over Hopewell

Joey Felitsky threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns as North Catholic clinched a playoff berth with a 44-36 victory over Hopewell (6-4, 2-4) in the WPIAL Class 3A Western Hills Conference on Friday night.
The Trojans (7-3, 4-2) locked up third place in the conference and will learn their seed when the WPIAL football committee reveals the playoff brackets Saturday afternoon.
Preston Simko and Will Waskiewicz each caught two touchdown passes, and Logan Schade and Tom Arth ran for scores for North Catholic.
Nasir Wade rushed for 149 yards and four touchdowns for Hopewell.

Class 6A
Central Catholic 45, Canon-McMillan 10 — Owen Herrick threw for 217 yards and three touchdowns to lead top-ranked Central Catholic (9-1, 6-0) to the Class 6A win at No. 4 Canon-McMillan (4-6, 2-4). Ty Jansma tossed for 102 yards in the loss.
Seneca Valley 21, North Allegheny 18 — Andrew Loebig threw for one touchdown and ran for another as Seneca Valley (4-6, 2-4) beat No. 2 North Allegheny (7-3, 4-2) in Class 6A. Brady Brinkley threw for 249 yards and a touchdown for North Allegheny.
Class 5A
Moon 24, South Fayette 21 — Braeden Stuart rushed for two touchdowns as No. 5 Moon (7-3, 4-1) beat South Fayette (5-5, 1-4) in an Allegheny Six Conference matchup. Aayden Wright ran for 120 yards and one touchdown for South Fayette.
Peters Township 35, Bethel Park 0 — Cole Neupaver rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 2 Peters Township (10-0, 5-0) to the Allegheny Six Conference win at Bethel Park (6-4, 2-3). Dominic DiCio threw for 242 yards and two touchdowns for Peters Township. Evan Devine threw for 147 yards for Bethel Park.
Upper St. Clair 56, Baldwin 8 — Upper St. Clair (8-2, 3-2) clinched third place in the Allegheny Six Conference with its win over Baldwin (0-10, 0-5).
Armstrong 41, Franklin Regional 14 — Kayden Lewis and Max Zablocki scored two touchdowns each as Armstrong (4-6, 3-3) beat Franklin Regional (1-9, 0-6) in Big East Conference play. Brock Bowser tossed for 104 yards and a touchdown for Franklin Regional.
Pine-Richland 49, Shaler 17 — Aaron Strader threw for three touchdowns and ran for one more as top-ranked Pine-Richland (9-1, 5-0) defeated Shaler (3-7, 3-2) in the Northeast Conference. Kaeden Taylor and Bo Heckert scored two touchdowns each for Pine-Richland.
Class 4A
Chartiers Valley 38, Ringgold 0 — Tayshaun Lewis rushed for 219 yards and two touchdowns as Chartiers Valley (7-3, 3-2) clinched third place in the Big Six Conference by beating Ringgold (4-6, 1-4). Luke Miranda threw for 127 yards and two touchdowns for Chartiers Valley.
Thomas Jefferson 58, Laurel Highlands 7 — In the Big Six Conference, Thomas Jefferson (8-2, 4-1) downed Laurel Highlands (2-8, 0-5).
Hampton 15, West Mifflin 13 — Jake Lucas’ 19-yard field goal in the fourth quarter lifted Hampton (5-5, 3-2) over West Mifflin (3-7, 2-3) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Willy Haselrig caught six passes for 64 yards and a touchdown for Hampton, which finished third in the Greater Allegheny Conference and remains alive for a wild card spot. Armand Hill ran for 179 yards and a touchdown for West Mifflin.
Mars 42, Indiana 7 — In the Greater Allegheny Conference, Colin Yurisinec completed 11 passes — all to Gabe Hein — for 216 yards and two touchdowns as No. 3 Mars (8-2, 4-1) defeated Indiana (3-7, 1-4). Hein added a touchdown on a 75-yard punt return while Ayden Yocum rushed for 114 yards and two TDs.
McKeesport 57, Knoch 0 — Top-ranked McKeesport (7-3, 5-0) held Knoch (0-10, 0-5) to minus-29 yards of offense in its Greater Allegheny Conference win. Kamron Spell rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns for the Tigers.
Aliquippa 57, Ambridge 7 — Aliquippa (6-3, 3-2) finished third in the Parkway Conference with its win at Ambridge (1-9, 0-5).
New Castle 41, Blackhawk 17 — Marino Graham threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 2 New Castle (8-2, 4-1) to the Parkway Conference win at Blackhawk (3-7, 1-4). Brayden McCarthy ran for 101 yards for Blackhawk.
Class 3A
Elizabeth Forward 41, Mt. Pleasant 7 — Ryan Messina threw for 236 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 3 Elizabeth Forward (9-1, 5-0) to the Interstate Conference win against Mt. Pleasant (5-5, 2-3). Anthony St. Angelo caught three passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Aiden Roadman scored for the Vikings.
Avonworth 49, Beaver 7 — In the Western Hills Conference, Carson Bellinger threw for 162 yards and four touchdowns to lead top-ranked Avonworth (10-0, 6-0) to victory over Beaver (5-5, 3-3).
Quaker Valley 21, McGuffey 0 — Atticus Barr hit Logan Benedict with three touchdown passes as Quaker Valley (4-6, 1-5) beat McGuffey (0-10, 0-6) in Western Hills Conference play. Barr threw for 124 yards while Benedict caught four passes for 105 yards.
Class 2A
Apollo-Ridge 28, Ligonier Valley 14 — In the Allegheny Conference, Alexander Clawson threw three touchdowns, including two to George Wingard, as playoff-bound Apollo-Ridge (7-3, 5-1) defeated Ligonier Valley (1-9, 0-6). Levi Foust and Gregory Sleasman scored for the Rams.
Shady Side Academy 15, South Park 6 — Javon Johnston threw for 137 yards and a touchdown as Shady Side Academy (4-5, 2-4) beat South Park (4-6, 1-5) in the Allegheny Conference. Harvey Maddox added 112 rushing yards for Shady Side Academy.
Charleroi 30, Carlynton 6 — Charleroi (2-8, 2-4) beat Carlynton (1-9, 0-6) in Century Conference play.
Waynesburg Central 43, Sto-Rox 6 — Waynesburg Central (5-5, 3-3) finished fourth in the Century Conference by defeating Sto-Rox (1-9, 1-5).
Ellwood City 25, Beaver Falls 24 — Tyler Smiley threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns as Ellwood City (6-4, 5-2) clinched a playoff spot by beating Beaver Falls (4-6, 4-3) in the Midwestern Athletic Conference. Dom Hague caught six passes for 93 yards for Ellwood City, which trailed 18-6 at halftime.
Mohawk 35, Riverside 24 — Bobby Fadden threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns to Joey Nail and ran for two TDs to lead Mohawk (5-5, 4-3) to the Midwestern Athletic Conference win at Riverside (5-5, 4-3). Aidan Gaydosz threw for 265 yards and three Riverside touchdowns.
New Brighton 6, Union 2 — In the Midwestern Athletic Conference, New Brighton (6-4, 3-4) beat Union (0-9, 0-7).
Western Beaver 50, Freedom 0 — Wyatt Sparbanie rushed for 264 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 4 Western Beaver (9-1, 6-1) past Freedom (4-6, 2-5) in the Midwestern Athletic Conference.
Class A
Laurel 14, Neshannock 7 — Kolton Carlson ran for 91 yards and a touchdown as No. 4 Laurel (9-1, 6-0) won the Big 7 Conference by beating Neshannock (6-3, 3-2). Jim Mozzocio threw for 109 yards and Neshannock’s touchdown.
South Side 35, Rochester 0 — In the Big 7 Conference, Andrew Corfield ran for 144 yards and one touchdown and caught three passes for 90 yards and two TDs as No. 5 South Side (8-2, 5-1) shut out Rochester (1-8, 1-4).
Fort Cherry 49, Serra Catholic 8 — Matt Sieg ran for 245 yards and four touchdowns to lead top-ranked Fort Cherry (10-0, 6-0) over Serra Catholic (2-8, 1-5) in the Black Hills Conference.
Monessen 30, Cornell 28 — Tavian Taylor ran for two touchdowns as Monessen (6-4, 3-3) defeated Cornell (5-5, 2-4) in the Black Hills Conference. Khylil Johnson scored three touchdowns for Cornell.
Clairton 53, Brentwood 0 — Jeff Thompson III threw four touchdown passes to lead No. 2 Clairton (8-1, 7-0) to the Eastern Conference shutout at Brentwood (3-7, 2-5). Donte Wright ran for one touchdown, caught a scoring pass and returned a punt for another TD.
Frazier 57, Springdale 6 — Derek Diamond and Chase Fulmer scored two touchdowns each as Frazier (6-4, 4-3) defeated Springdale (0-8, 0-6) to finish fourth in the Eastern Conference. Will Fowler scored on a 23-yard run for the Dynamos.
Jeannette 36, Riverview 0 — Kymon’e Brown scored on a 46-yard interception and a 50-yard run as Jeannette (7-3, 5-3) defeated Riverview (4-6, 2-5) in an Eastern Conference game. McAlister Steele kicked three field goals in the win.
Bentworth 35, Avella 0 — Ty Watson threw for 120 yards as Bentworth (8-2, 6-1) defeated Avella (6-4, 3-4) in the Tri-County South.
Beth-Center 26, West Greene 21 — Beth-Center (3-7, 3-4) defeated West Greene (1-9, 1-6) in theTri-County South.
California 36, Jefferson-Morgan 14 — Malachi Peak ran for 270 yards and four touchdowns to lead California (9-1, 7-0) to the Tri-County South win over Jefferson-Morgan (8-2, 5-2).
Carmichaels 54, Mapletown 0 — Will Murray ran for 269 yards and two touchdowns to lead Carmichaels (4-5, 3-4) to the Tri-County South win over Mapletown (1-9, 0-7).

Central Valley 35, North Hills 31 — Ethan Shearer ran for 150 yards and caught two touchdown passes from Braddock Ambrose as Class 3A No. 4 Central Valley (6-4) beat Class 5A North Hills (3-7). Ambrose threw for 157 yards and four touchdowns. Austin Ellis threw for 243 yards and three touchdowns for North Hills.
Chartiers-Houston 56, Northgate 20 — Dominic Andreolli ran for 162 yards and a touchdown and Aaron Walsh rushed for 160 yards and two TDs as Chartiers-Houston (7-3) beat Northgate (1-9) in nonconference play.
Fox Chapel 37, East Allegheny 22 — Joe Geller threw for 143 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 122 yards and two TDs to lead Class 5A Fox Chapel (3-7) to the win at Class 3A East Allegheny (2-8). Cedric Mack threw for 229 yards and three touchdowns for East Allegheny.
Hempfield 42, Gateway 38 — Dominic Detruf threw for 281 yards and three touchdowns as Class 6A Hempfield (5-5) outlasted Class 5A Gateway (3-7). Jack Kopas caught eight passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns for Hempfield and teammate Aidan Stinebiser rushed for 128 yards and one TD. Gateway’s Mayson Mitchell threw for 381 yards and three touchdowns.
OLSH 23, Keystone Oaks 8 — J.J. Hayden threw two touchdown passes as OLSH (5-5) beat Keystone Oaks (4-6) in nonconference play.

Albert Gallatin 34, Weirton Weir, W.Va. 6 — Tee Guesman ran for 143 yards and a touchdown as Albert Gallatin (10-0) beat Weirton Weir, W.Va. (0-8) in nonconference play. Bronx Jamison added 119 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Central Clarion 21, Butler 14 — Ethan Rex ran for 104 yards and a touchdown and caught a TD pass to lead Central Clarion (6-4) to the nonconference win against Butler (7-3). Nicolas Baggetta threw for 131 yards and a touchdown for Butler.
Fairmont, W.Va. 42, Connellsville 7 — In nonconference play, Jason Walker ran for two touchdowns as Fairmont, W.Va. (7-1) defeated Connellsville (2-8).
Southern Garrett, Md. 33, Uniontown 13 — In nonconference play, Southern Garrett, Md. (4-4) defeated Uniontown (2-8).
