High school football roundup for Oct. 3, 2025: Trinity upsets No. 1 Thomas Jefferson

Jonah Williamson threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns as Trinity overcame a 15-point halftime deficit to upset top-ranked Thomas Jefferson, 33-22, in the Class 4A Big Six Conference on Friday night.

The Hillers scored 26 unanswered points in the second half.

Owen Gardner rushed for 126 yards and one touchdown and scored on a fourth-quarter interception return for Trinity (3-4, 2-0).

Tyler Eber rushed for 202 yards and two touchdowns for Thomas Jefferson (5-2, 1-1).

Here’s a look at the other games from Friday night:

Class 6A

North Allegheny 28, Mt. Lebanon 19 — Kory Pitts, Jr. returned the opening kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown and caught two passes for 104 yards and one TD as No. 2 North Allegheny (6-1, 3-1) beat Mt. Lebanon (1-6, 1-3) in Class 6A play. Brady Brinkley threw for 188 yards and a touchdown for North Allegheny and Luke Rohan added 144 rushing yards and one TD. Mt. Lebanon’s Pat Smith threw for 152 yards and a touchdown.

Class 5A

Bethel Park 75, Baldwin 14 — Evan Devine threw for 172 yards and six touchdowns as Bethel Park (5-2, 1-1) scored 49 points in the first quarter in its Allegheny Six Conference win over Baldwin (0-7, 0-2). Enzo Sentafanti tossed for 151 yards and two touchdowns off the bench for Bethel Park. Jordan Bryant ran for 123 yards and a touchdown for Baldwin.

Peters Township 21, Moon 10 — In the Allegheny Six Conference, Nolan DiLucia threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns and Cole Neupaver ran for 143 yards and a touchdown as No. 2 Peters Township (7-0, 2-0) beat Moon (4-3, 1-1).

Penn-Trafford 33, Gateway 22 — Ben Grabowski ran for 148 yards and two touchdowns as No. 5 Penn Trafford (6-1, 2-1) defeated Gateway (2-5, 2-2) in the Big East Conference. Shawn Moorfield, Jr. caught 13 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns for Gateway, which led at halftime, 23-7.

Woodland Hills 50, Armstrong 14 — In the Big East Conference, Cam Walter threw for 311 yards and three touchdowns as No. 3 Woodland Hills (5-2, 3-0) beat Armstrong (3-4, 2-1). Scoop Smith caught 11 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns for Woodland Hills while teammate Reid Taylor rushed for 142 yards and two TDs. Jaydon Oliver threw for 169 yards and a touchdown for Armstrong.

Pine-Richland 63, Penn Hills 19 — Aaron Strader threw two touchdown passes and ran for two more as top-ranked Pine-Richland (6-1, 4-0) beat Penn Hills (2-5, 2-1) in Northeast Conference play. Khalil Taylor caught both Strader TD passes and scored on a kickoff return.

Class 4A

Chartiers Valley 36, Belle Vernon 35 — Luke Miranda hit Owen Weagraff with a 12-yard touchdown pass, followed by Miranda’s two-point pass to Tayshaun Lewis, in the fourth quarter to lift Chartiers Valley (6-1, 2-0) to the Big Six Conference win against Belle Vernon (1-5, 0-2). Miranda threw for 222 yards and four touchdowns while teammate Julius Best caught four passes for 105 yards and one TD. Chace Petrosky rushed for 339 yards and four touchdowns for Belle Vernon.

Ringgold 47, Laurel Highlands 7 — Amoni Ward ran for 187 yards and one touchdown, caught a 17-yard TD pass from Dennis Hawkins and scored on a 50-yard interception return to lead Ringgold (4-3, 1-1) to the Big Six Conference win against Laurel Highlands (2-5, 0-2). Hawkins threw for 109 yards while teammate Nick Stasko ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns.

Hampton 35, Indiana 7 — In the Greater Allegheny Conference, Evan McAneny rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns as Hampton (3-4, 1-1) defeated Indiana (3-4, 1-1).

Mars 56, Knoch 0 — Ayden Yocum ran for 227 yards and four touchdowns as No. 2 Mars (6-1, 2-0) blanked Knoch (0-7, 0-2) in the Greater Allegheny Conference. Colin Yurisinec threw for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

McKeesport 28, West Mifflin 21 — Kemon Spell and Matt Miller rushed for two touchdowns each as No. 3 McKeesport (4-3, 2-0) beat West Mifflin (1-6, 0-2) in Greater Allegheny Conference play. Armand Hill ran for 140 yards and all three West Mifflin touchdowns.

Blackhawk 51, Ambridge 20 — Brayden McCarthy ran for 246 yards and four touchdowns to lead Blackhawk (3-4, 1-1) to the Parkway Conference win against Ambridge (1-6, 0-2). Hayden Magill added 120 rushing yards and a touchdown for Blackhawk. D.J. Cain threw for 175 yards and two touchdowns for Ambridge.

Class 3A

Imani Christian 61, East Allegheny 0 — No. 2 Imani Christian (7-0, 3-0) blanked East Allegheny (1-6, 1-3) in an Allegheny 7 Conference game.

Elizabeth Forward 56, Derry 7 — Ryan Messina threw three touchdown passes, including two to Brayden Kollar, and ran for one TD to lead No. 3 Elizabeth Forward (6-1, 2-0) to the Interstate Conference win over Derry (3-4, 0-2). Elizabeth Forward led at halftime, 42-0. Anthony Sacco scored on a 1-yard run for Derry.

Avonworth 46, Quaker Valley 7 — Top-ranked Avonworth (7-0, 3-0) downed Quaker Valley (3-4, 0-3) in Western Hills Conference play.

Central Valley 34, North Catholic 28 — In the Western Hills Conference, Ethan Shearer ran for 188 yards and three touchdowns as Central Valley (3-4, 3-1) beat No. 5 North Catholic (5-2, 2-1). Braddock Ambrose added 136 passing yards and a touchdown for Central Valley. Joey Felitzky threw for 379 yards and three touchdowns for North Catholic while Will Waskiewicz caught five passes for 114 yards and one touchdown and returned an interception 84 yards for another TD.

Hopewell 63, McGuffey 0 — James Armstrong threw for 289 yards and four touchdowns to lead Hopewell (5-2, 2-2) to the Western Hills Conference win over McGuffey (0-7, 0-4).

Class 2A

Apollo-Ridge 18, Steel Valley 14 — Alexander Clawson hit Zac Myers with a 13-yard touchdown pass with 2 seconds left in the game as Apollo-Ridge (5-2, 3-0) went 88 yards in under two minutes to defeat No. 4 Steel Valley (4-3, 2-1) in an Allegheny Conference game. Steel Valley led earlier in the fourth quarter, 14-3.

OLSH 14, South Park 13 — Jamire Samuels ran for 103 yards and a touchdown as OLSH (3-4, 2-2) held on to defeat South Park (3-4, 0-3) in Allegheny Conference play. Robert Lenzi threw for one touchdown and ran for another for South Park.

Seton LaSalle 46, Sto-Rox 0 — Kymarr Freeman ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns as No. 2 Seton LaSalle (6-1, 4-0) shut out Sto-Rox (0-7, 0-4) in a Century Conference game.

Washington 55, Keystone Oaks 0 — Tristan Reed threw for 142 yards and one touchdown and ran for three TDs to lead No. 5 Washington (6-1, 3-0) to the Century Conference shutout against Keystone Oaks (3-4, 3-1).

Waynesburg Central 36, Carlynton 6 — In the Century Conference, Waynesburg Central (3-4, 1-2) beat Carlynton (1-6, 0-3).

Beaver Falls 28, Union 22 — Beaver Falls (3-4, 3-1) beat Union (0-6, 0-4) in a Midwestern Athletic Conference game.

New Brighton 38, Mohawk 35 — In the Midwestern Athletic Conference, Heath Lewis rushed for three touchdowns as New Brighton (5-2, 2-2) defeated Mohawk (2-5, 1-3).

Riverside 37, Freedom 7 — In the Midwestern Athletic Conference, Mason Holler rushed for 212 yards and one touchdown as Riverside (4-3, 3-1) defeated Freedom (3-4, 1-3). Aidan Gaydosz threw for 114 yards and one touchdown and added two short rushing TDs for Riverside.

Western Beaver 27, Ellwood City 12 — Amari Marshall ran for 185 yards and two touchdowns as No. 3 Western Beaver (7-0, 4-0) beat Ellwood City (3-4, 2-2) in the Midwestern Athletic Conference. Braeden Mayo added two rushing touchdowns in the win.

Class A

Laurel 63, Summit Academy 8 — Luca Santini threw for 142 yards and four touchdowns as No. 4 Laurel (6-2, 3-0) scored 55 points in the first half in its Big 7 Conference win over Summit Academy (1-6, 1-2). Nathan Hill added 104 rushing yards and one touchdown on five carries for Laurel. Santini set a school record for career passing yards, and Koltin Carlson set a school record for receiving yards in the win.

Shenango 13, Rochester 12 — Niko DeSalvo rushed for 105 yards as Shenango (3-4, 2-2) held off Rochester (0-6, 0-3) in a Big 7 Conference matchup.

South Side 63, Northgate 13 — Andrew Corfield and Amare Moman rushed for 130 and 116 yards, respectively, while each scored two touchdowns as No. 5 South Side (6-1, 3-0) downed Northgate (0-7, 0-4) in the Big 7 Conference.

Bishop Canevin 54, Serra Catholic 14 — Brady Wagner threw five touchdown passes, including four to Damar Olds in the second quarter, as No. 3 Bishop Canevin (5-2, 3-0) beat Serra Catholic (1-6, 0-3) in the Black Hills Conference. Wagner threw for 167 yards while Olds caught five passes for 103 yards and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Chartiers-Houston 37, Monessen 18 — Aaron Walsh tossed for 104 yards and three touchdowns, ran for a TD and returned a kickoff 98 yards for another score as Chartiers-Houston (4-3, 2-2) defeated Monessen (4-3, 1-2) in Black Hills Conference play. The game was tied at 12 entering the fourth quarter. Rodney Johnson scored twice, and Tavian Taylor ran for a score for the Greyhounds.

Fort Cherry 56, Cornell 20 — Matt Sieg ran for 214 yards and three touchdowns, Eli Salvini rushed for 128 yards and two TDs and Ryan Huey added 122 rushing yards and two touchdowns as top-Ranked Fort Cherry (6-0, 3-0) downed Cornell (4-3, 2-2) in the Black Hills Conference.

Brentwood 27, Riverview 14 — In an Eastern Conference contest, Cedric Davis, Jr. ran for 200 yards and four touchdowns to lead Brentwood (2-4, 2-2) to victory over Riverview (4-3, 2-2). Connor Kmetz threw for 107 yards and both Riverview touchdowns.

Clairton 51, Springdale 0 — Brandon Murphy, Jr. and Ty’rell Armstrong scored two touchdowns each as No. 2 Clairton (5-1, 4-0) scored 41 first-half points in its Eastern Conference win over Springdale (0-5, 0-3).

Leechburg 48, Frazier 14 — Nick Hilty ran for 101 yards and scored three touchdowns and Tim Andrasy and Tristan Zalenski added two each as Leechburg (5-1, 3-0) beat Frazier (3-4, 1-3) in Eastern Conference play. Andrasy, the WPIAL’s second-leading rusher, gained 166 yards on the ground in the victory.

Avella 48, Mapletown 12 — In the Tri-County South, Noah Kimberland rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns as Avella (6-1, 3-1) defeated Mapletown (1-6, 0-4).

Bentworth 42, West Greene 0 — In the Tri-County South, Bentworth (5-2, 3-1) defeated West Greene (1-6, 1-3).

California 50, Carmichaels 0 — Malachi Peak rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns as California (6-1, 4-0) blanked Carmichaels (1-5, 0-4) in Tri-County South play. Logan Hartley threw for 129 yards and two touchdowns, both to Alan Dennis, who gained 100 yards.

Jefferson-Morgan 37, Beth-Center 26 — Triton Farabee threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns — all to Deakyn Dehoet — as Jefferson-Morgan (7-0, 4-0) beat Beth-Center (1-6, 1-3) in Tri-County South play. Dehoet caught six passes for 203 yards.

Nonconference

Beaver 45, Deer Lakes 7 — In nonconference play, Micah Pupi caught one touchdown pass and returned an interception 25 yards for another as Beaver (4-3) beat Deer Lakes (1-6). Travis Clear threw two touchdown passes. Ryan Love scored on a 2-yard run for the Lancers.

Central Catholic 69, Shaler 7 — Owen Herrick tossed for 213 yards and two touchdowns as Class 6A No. 1 Central Catholic (6-1) scored 35 points in the first quarter en route to defeating Class 5A Shaler (1-6).

Franklin Regional 21, Fox Chapel 10 — Jake Pucka threw for 148 yards and one touchdown as Franklin Regional (1-6) defeated Fox Chapel (2-5) in nonconference play. Franklin Regional trailed at halftime, 10-0 after Fox Chapel kicker Harran Zureikat booted a WPIAL-record 57-yard field goal.

Ligonier Valley 67, Charleroi 13 – Ligonier Valley (1-6) earned its first win of the season with a nonconference triumph over Charleroi (1-6).

Neshannock 34, Burgettstown 14 — Jino Mozzocio threw for 158 yards and a touchdown as Neshannock (5-1) beat Burgettstown (1-5) in nonconference play. Anthony Eakin added 146 rushing yards and a touchdown for Neshannock.

Independent

Albert Gallatin 62, Clear Spring, Md. 27 — Adam Pegg caught two scoring passes, ran for one touchdown and returned an interception for another as Albert Gallatin (7-0) downed Clear Spring, Md. (1-4) in non-conference play.

Butler 35, University, W.Va. 7 — Mark Klemz ran for 187 yards and two touchdowns and scored on a 35-yard interception return as Butler (5-2) beat University, W.Va. (4-2) in nonconference play. Harrison Helberg threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.

DuBois 38, Connellsville 24 — Trey Wingard threw four touchdown passes, including three to Jaxson Hanzely, to lead DuBois (5-2) to the nonconference win at Connellsville (1-6). Caden Matthews hit Christian Thomas with two touchdown passes for Connellsville.

City League

Brashear 28, Perry 14 — In City League play, Brashear (1-6, 1-3) beat Perry (0-7, 0-4).

University Prep 38, Allderdice 6 — University Prep (4-2, 3-0) defeated Allderdice (4-3. 2-2) in a City League matchup.

Karns City 28, Westinghouse 24 — In nonconference play, Karns City (5-2) beat Westinghouse (6-1).
