High school roundup for April 11, 2025: North Allegheny baseball completes sweep of Butler

Grant Husky went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs as North Allegheny defeated Butler, 7-4, to sweep a three-game series in Section 1-6A baseball.
Christian Simons doubled and Jackson Walsh picked up the win for the Tigers (5-2, 3-0). Preston Richter doubled and drove in a run and Boden Lenyk tripled for the Golden Tornado (6-3, 3-3).
Allderdice 7, Shady Side Academy 3 – Lukas Stead doubled and plated a pair of runs and Satyan Chickering went 3 for 3 with an RBI to lead Allderdice (4-1) to a nonection win. Brady Trischler doubled twice and drove in a run for Shady Side Academy (2-9). Brendan Maloney and Donovan Snelsire each doubled while Kingston Mankoski got the win for the Dragons.
Ellwood City 8, Sto-Rox 2 – Jordan Keller went 2 for 3 with a solo home run and Jacob Biskup drove in four runs as Ellwood City (7-3, 3-1) defeated Sto-Rox (0-6, 0-2) in Section 1-3A. Gus Biondi knocked in a run and Nathan Kennedy picked up a win for the Wolverines.
Gateway 7, Armstrong 5 – Winning pitcher Miles Beavin threw three scoreless innings with six strikeouts and Grady Dunsmore and Donovan DeLuca hit a double apiece for Gateway (6-3) in a nonsection win. Carson DeLano and Brayden Wright singled and drove in a run apiece for Armstrong (2-8).
Hampton 5, Knoch 2 – Winning pitcher Brady Smith went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Nate Constantakis also drove in a run and Zach Virbitsky doubled as Hampton (2-7) took care of Knoch (6-6) in a nonsection contest. Dylan Roth knocked in a run and Kyle Morgan had two hits for the Knights.
Hempfield 2, Mt. Lebanon 0 – Chase Sikorski doubled and knocked in a run, Anthony More plated a run as well and Joshua Cayer allowed six hits in 6⅔ innings to earn the win as Hempfield (5-6, 3-3) shut out Mt. Lebanon (3-7, 2-1) in Section 2-6A. Quinn Wilkins got the save for the Spartans.
Mars 8, Highlands 0 – Finn Seideneck doubled and knocked in a pair of runs, Luke Goodworth also had two RBIs and Zack Hugus got the win as Mars (4-4) shut out Highlands (5-4) in a nonsection matchup. Beckham Ochoa doubled for the Golden Rams. Daniel Murray doubled and drove in a run for the Fightin’ Planets.
Montour 10, Hopewell 4 – Matteo Weber tripled twice and had a pair of RBIs while Caleb Armbruster and Michael Ivanoff each drove in two runs to power Montour (4-4) to a nonsection win. Thomas Butts plated a run and Nino DiMichele got the win for the Spartans. Benjamin McDonald and Jacon Knobloch had two RBIs apiece for Hopewell (2-9).
Riverside 8, Mohawk 0 – Zack Hare struck out 14 and allowed two hits in six innings for Riverside (7-1, 3-1) in a Section 1-3A win. Vinny Pezzuolo singled and stole a base for Mohawk (2-4, 1-2). Jackson Barber drove in two runs for the Panthers.
Serra Catholic 10, Western Beaver 1 – Chris Johnson doubled and had an RBI, Jake Anderson plated a pair of runs and winning pitcher Tyler Skaggs went 3 for 4 with an RBI as Serra Catholic (7-2) rolled to a nonsection win. Sawyer Chaffee went 2 for 4 with a solo home run and Christian Stefankis doubled for Western Beaver (5-4).
Shenango 17, Northgate 0 – Trey Ross threw a three-inning no-hitter and struck out five for Shenango (7-1, 4-0) in a Section 2-2A win over Northgate (1-6, 0-4). Ross had a triple and three RBIs, Joey Campoli doubled and AJ Ferilla drove in three runs for the Wildcats.
West Mifflin 3, South Allegheny 0 – Winning pitcher Hunter Horne threw five shutout innings, gave up two hits and struck out three while going 2 for 3 at the plate and Jayvon Thompson knocked in a run as West Mifflin (9-3) blanked South Allegheny (2-7) in nonsection play. Josh Nesky tripled for the Gladiators. Justin Dillon threw two scoreless innings to earn the save for the Titans.
Softball
Apollo-Ridge 15, Brentwood 1 – Mikaila Ditty earned the win as she struck out 11 and gave up three hits in a Section 2-2A win for Apollo Ridge (7-1, 3-0). Madison Butler went 4 for 4 with a double, two triples and an RBI while Olivia Saxion (single, double, four RBIs) and Cassidy Ryan (single, triple, three RBIs) drove in seven total runs for the Vikings. Carma Coberly went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Brentwood (0-3, 0-1).
Baldwin 17, Albert Gallatin 0 – Reese Temme went 4 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs, Camryn Temme had a double, home run and three RBIs and Mackenzie Bowen and Kaylee Smolko hit a single and double for Baldwin (8-1, 4-0) in a Section 4-5A win over Albert Gallatin (2-5, 0-5).
Brownsville 5, Bentworth 0 – Ava Clark pitched a shutout in a Section 2-4A win for Brownsville (3-3, 1-1), striking out 15 and only allowing one hit. Skyler Gates (2-for-3) tripled and drove in a run for the Falcons. Kylie Glaze doubled for Bentworth (4-3, 1-1).
Canon-McMillan 7, Pine-Richland 6 – Kiersten Williams hit a three-run homer and Callie Stonemark doubled to lead Canon-McMIllan (6-5, 4-4) to a Section 1-6A win. Calle Henne went 3 for 3 with two doubles, a home run and two RBIs and Abbey Laurent homered for Pine-Richland (4-3, 3-3).
Carmichaels 9, West Greene 1 – Winning pitcher Bailey Barnyak gave up one unearned run on four hits and fanned 14 while going 3 for 4 with a double and three RBI and Carys McConnell homered and drove in three to power Carmichaels (6-0, 2-0) to a Section 2-A win. Payton Gilbert doubled for West Greene (7-1, 3-1).
Chartiers Valley 17, Montour 2 – Lilly Duffill had two home runs, including a grand slam, in a Section 3-5A win for Chartiers Valley (3-6, 1-1). Duffill and Kaitlyn Truong (home run, two RBIs) drove in nine runs for the Colts. Danielle Terpack doubled and had an RBI for Montour (2-5, 0-3).
Deer Lakes 7, Burrell 3 – Laney Dineff hit a three-run homer and Sophia Laurenza went 3 for 4 with a double to lead Deer Lakes (3-6, 1-1) to a Section 1-3A win. Pyper Ferres hit a double and home run and Addy Wojtczak doubled for Burrell (4-6, 0-3).
Derry 10, Freeport 0 – Haylee Myers threw a six-inning three-hit shutout and struck out 14 for Derry (6-1, 4-0) in a Section 1-4A win over Freeport (3-6, 0-4). Myers went 3 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs and Sophia Doherty went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs for the Trojans.
Fox Chapel 6, Mars 1 – Ella Eisner went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs and Gabriella Weidner singled and drove in two runs for Fox Chapel (6-3, 2-3) in a Section 1-5A win. Sophia Soltis hit two doubles for Mars (2-9, 1-4).
Franklin Regional 8, Armstrong 4 – Toryn Fulton went 2 for 2 with two home runs and three RBIs and Ciara Camacho hit two singles to lead Franklin Regional (8-2, 5-0) to a Section 2-5A win. Daria Stross hit a home run and Clara Toy doubled for Armstrong (7-4, 3-3).
Jefferson-Morgan 9, Mapletown 2 – Emilee Bazzoli hit a double and grand slam to lead Jefferson-Morgan (5-1, 2-0) to a Section 2-A win. Makenna Lotspeich hit a double for Mapletown (2-6, 0-3).
Keystone Oaks 7, Steel Valley 1 – Kennadi Smith struck out 12 and allowed two hits in seven innings for Keystone Oaks (3-4, 1-1) in a Section 3-3A win over Steel Valley (2-5, 0-3). Myla Zaborowski hit two doubles and Angelina Sohngen and Taylor Gigliotti hit a double apiece for the Eagles.
Knoch 14, Highlands 1 – Carissa Tekely went 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs, Emersyn Jones and Marlee Fraser hit a home run apiece and Alena Tekely doubled for Knoch (8-1, 4-0) in a Section 1-4A win over Highlands (5-3, 3-1).
Latrobe 7, McKeesport 1 – Mya McHugh struck out 11 in a complete-game two-hitter and helped her own cause with a double and home run in a Section 2-5A win for Latrobe (5-4, 2-2) over McKeesport (1-5, 0-4). Sarah Blossey went 3 for 3 with a triple and an RBI while Natalia Scekeres doubled and drove in two runs for the Wildcats.
Mohawk 9, Hopewell 0 – Winning pitcher Reagan Magno tossed seven shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out 10, while also going 2 for 2 with three RBIs to lead Mohawk (7-2, 4-0) to a Section 2-3A win over Hopewell (4-4, 1-2). Addy Moskal tripled and drove in two while Lydia Cole and Mylie Pistorius each knocked in a run for the Warriors. Isabella Katkich doubled for the Vikings.
Neshannock 16, Riverside 0 – Jaidon Nogay went 4 for 4 with a double and five RBIs and Miley Anderson went 3 for 3 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead Neshannock (10-0, 7-0) to a Section 1-2A win. Danny Rosenberger had a base hit for Riverside (2-5, 2-2). Winning pitcher Addy Frye threw a four-inning one-hitter and struck out seven for the Lancers.
North Allegheny 9, Mt. Lebanon 6 – Leah Carlson hit a home run, Twila Goulding had a double and three RBIs and Sammy Plotsko drove in two runs to lead North Allegheny (5-4, 4-2) to a Section 1-6A win. Lila Gaetano and Mary Langston hit a double apiece for Mt. Lebanon (4-7, 2-6).
North Catholic 5, Central Valley 0 – Winning pitcher Kennedy Brown threw a three-hitter and struck out 16 for North Catholic (6-3, 3-2) in a Section 3-4A win over Central Valley (3-3, 1-2). Natalia Rushak and Juliana Lehman hit a double apiece for the Trojans.
Penn-Trafford 17, Gateway 1; Penn-Trafford 18, Gateway 3 – Penn-Trafford (7-1, 4-0) swept Gateway (3-6, 0-6) in a Section 2-5A doubleheader. In Game 1, Ava Heller, Riley Moors, Gabriella Rubbe and Ella Mains each drove in two runs and winning pitcher Allyson Paulone gave up one unearned run on two hits and struck out five in four innings for the Warriors. Alex Brennan doubled for the Gators.
In the second game, Juliana Reilly tripled and drove in three runs, Annabell Carvajal went 2 for 2 with three RBIs and Rubbe also knocked in three to lead the Warriors. Alayna Dawson drove in a run for the Gators. Winning pitcher Julia Salvador tripled and plated a run for Penn-Trafford.
Plum 12, North Hills 10 – Lily DeLuca delivered a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to lead Plum to a Section 1-5A win. Sydney Pici had two home runs and four RBIs, including the game-tying solo shot in the seventh, and Liana Yusko went 4 for 5 with three doubles and a home run for the Mustangs (8-2, 4-1). Abigail Sutton had two doubles and three RBIs for North Hills (8-3, 3-2).
Sewickley Academy 12, South Side 11 – Quincy Sirko drove in the winning run in the top of the seventh and finished the afternoon 4 for 5 with a triple and two RBIs as Sewickley Academy (7-0, 4-0) edged South Side (3-6, 0-2) in Section 1-A. Sanaa Grant doubled, homered and had three RBIs while Keira Church and Marie Bigi each drove in a run for the Panthers. Ariel Poelcher homered and knocked in two runs and Mya Ringhoff went 4 for 5 with three doubles and three RBIs for the Rams.
South Allegheny 16, Shady Side Academy 0 – Cadence McBride went 4 for 4 with a double, two triples and three RBIs, Carrera Conley hit two doubles and a triple and Sydney Gordon had a double and three RBIs for South Allegheny (6-1, 2-0) in a Section 2-2A win over Shady Side Academy (1-4, 1-3). Winning pitcher Ava Brown struck out nine in five innings.
South Park 5, McGuffey 3 – Kylie Mettrick and Kaitlyn Polk hit a double apiece and Sydney Sekely drove in two runs to lead South Park (10-0, 4-0) to a Section 3-3A win. Miley Main had a triple and two RBIs for McGuffey (4-3, 1-1).
Trinity 13, Bethel Park 5 – Hanna Suhoski had a double, triple and three RBIs, Nina Christy hit two doubles and Maddie Ray doubled and drove in two runs to lead Trinity (6-5, 4-1) to a Section 4-5A win. Madison Timms doubled and drove in two runs for Bethel Park (6-1, 2-1).
Uniontown 16, Oakland Catholic 4 – Lauren White went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, Graci Rodeheaver hit a home run and Emmaleigh Noah had a single, home run and three RBIs to lead Uniontown (4-4, 2-2) to a Section 2-4A win. Madison Pullen hit a home run and Natalie Waffensmith doubled for Oakland Catholic (1-5, 0-4).
West Mifflin 3, Laurel Highlands 2 – Rylie Dobnak struck out 13 and allowed three hits in seven innings to lead West Mifflin (7-3, 5-0) to a Section 2-4A win. Aubrey Speelman singled for Laurel Highlands (3-5, 2-2). Taylor Krivanek and Aubrey Jaskulski drove in a run apiece for the Titans.
Girls lacrosse
Plum 6, Hampton 4 – Jess Hartley had a goal and two assists and Carly Venanzi and Olivia Iachini recorded a goal and an assist each to lead Plum (5-5) to a nonsection win over Hampton (5-4).
