Winning pitcher Joshua McFadden gave up one run on two hits and struck out seven in six innings and Yaniel Heredia earned the save as Central Catholic defeated North Hills, 3-1, in Section 1-6A baseball Monday.
Landon Greene went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI for the Vikings (4-2, 2-2). Hard-luck losing pitcher Kaden Cutler gave up one earned run on seven hits in six innings for North Hills (2-7, 0-4).
Armstrong 9, Penn Hills 1 – Winning pitcher Carson DeLano helped his own cause by going 3 for 4 with a triple, double and four RBI to lead Armstrong (3-5, 2-3) to a Section 1-5A win against Penn Hills (0-8, 0-5). Jacob Bowser doubled and drove in a run for the River Hawks.
Avonworth 12, South Allegheny 0 – Mason Metz hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and finished with six RBIs, while Cooper Scharding gave up two hits and struck out seven in five shutout innings as Avonworth (8-1, 3-0) blanked South Allegheny (2-5, 1-2) in Section 2-3A. Carson Franc, Alexander Rowe and Scharding each doubled for the Antelopes. Josh Nesky doubled for the Gladiators.
Bishop Canevin 7, Eden Christian 4 – Winning pitcher Tyler Maddix clubbed three doubles and drove in two runs while Jackson Maddix went 2 for 4 with a double and a pair of RBI to lead Class A No. 3 Bishop Canevin (5-2, 5-0) to a Section 3-A win. Jacob Janicki tripled and Christian Watkins doubled for No. 1 Eden Christian (6-2, 3-2).
Central Valley 8, Beaver 4 – Will Ciucci went 4 for 4 and Cameron Miller drove in two runs for Central Valley (4-4, 1-1) in a Section 1-4A win. Tyler Kisling hit a double for Beaver (7-2, 4-1).
Deer Lakes 4, Ligonier Valley 3 – Anthony Smith smashed a walk-off solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to lift Deer Lakes (4-3, 4-1) past Ligonier Valley (1-5, 0-2) in Section 3-3A. Jake Fleisher tripled and drove in a pair of runs and Andrew Connelly got the win for the Lancers. Noah Knupp doubled and knocked in two runs and Austin Harr had an RBI for the Rams.
Ellwood City 23, Sto-Rox 1 – Jordan Keller hit two home runs and finished with seven RBIs and Jacob Biskup went 2 for 2 with a home run and an RBI as Ellwood City (6-3, 2-1) rolled to a Section 1-3A win over Sto-Rox (0-5, 0-1). Cameron Mills drove in three runs, Anthony Barbaerio and Matthew Kelly each drove in a pair and Aaron Lake got the win for the Wolverines.
Fox Chapel 6, New Castle 1; Fox Chapel 13, New Castle 4 – Fox Chapel (6-3, 3-3) swept New Castle (1-8, 1-3) in a Section 3-5A doubleheader. In the first game, winning pitcher Jeremy Haigh allowed one run, struck out eight in 6⅓ innings and went 3 for 3 at the plate for Fox Chapel. Joe Geller drove in a pair of runs and Franco Pistella had an RBI. Justin Girman doubled for the Red Hurricanes.
In the second game, Blake Krushinski went 4 for 5 with a home run and two RBI, Nick Seifried doubled and knocked in two and Pistella, the winning pitcher, drove in a pair for Fox Chapel. Paul Malley finished with two RBIs for the Red Hurricanes.
Greensburg Salem 6, Valley 4; Greensburg Salem 5, Valley 4 — Greensburg Salem (5-3, 3-1) swept Valley (5-4, 0-3) in a Section 3-4A doubleheader. In the first game, Tyler Martin doubled and drove in a pair of runs, winning pitcher Ayden Crissman knocked in two and Peyton Chismar doubled and had an RBI for Greensburg Salem. Brady Moore doubled and plated two runs and Julian Danko drove in a run for Valley.
In the second game, Logan Dunkerly singled and scored on an error in the bottom of the ninth for Greensburg Salem. Robert Visnick drove in two runs, Chismar doubled and drove in a run and Martin, the winning pitcher, doubled for the Golden Lions. Jarod Minford knocked in two runs and Conrad Hoover added an RBI for the Vikings.
Knoch 5, Highlands 2 – Zane Pacek gave up two runs, one earned, on five hits and struck out 10 as Knoch (6-4, 2-1) defeated Highlands (4-3, 0-3) in Section 3-4A. Sean Morgan drove in two runs and Cooper Allison doubled and knocked in a run for the Knights. Kristian Kocon doubled and plated a run and Carson McGraw had an RBI for the Golden Rams.
Latrobe 7, Kiski Area 6; Latrobe 6, Kiski Area 4 — Latrobe (7-3, 4-2) swept Kiski Area (0-7, 0-4) in a Section 1-5A doubleheader. In the first game, after scoring six runs in the first inning, Latrobe scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Eli Boring for the go-ahead run in the ninth. Boring finished with two RBIs while Cooper Basciano and Mason Leonard each knocked in a run for the Wildcats. Noah Matson drove in two while Lucas Klimkowski and Tylar Hanley each drove in a run for the Cavaliers. Joseph Razza got the win for Latrobe.
In the second game, Mason Leonard tripled, doubled and drove in two runs and Boring tripled and knocked in two for Latrobe. Dom Hand and Zach Zollinger each drove in a run for the Cavaliers. Hayden Porterfield came in with the bases loaded in the seventh to get the last out and the save. Cole Short got the win for the Wildcats.
Leechburg 13, St. Joseph 1; Leechburg 7, St. Joseph 0 — Leechburg (6-1, 6-0) swept St. Joseph (0-7, 0-6) in a Section 2-A doubleheader. In the first game, Mason Bertino doubled and drove in three runs, Jake Cummings and Logan Turiak each knocked in two and winning pitcher Jayden Floyd struck out five in five innings for Leechburg. Owen Pakulski knocked in the only run for the Spartans.
In the second game, Berino threw a no-hitter and struck out eight for Leechburg. Jayden Floyd tripled and drove in two runs and Chase Henry doubled for the Blue Devils.
Mars 7, Freeport 2 – Zachary Rozman and Luke Goodworth each went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Kyle Krause got the win as Mars (3-4) defeated Freeport (3-4) in nonsection play. Gavin Tola drove in a run for the Yellowjackets.
McGuffey 5, Charleroi 0 – Reno Presto threw 6⅔ shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out seven, while Preston Hornak doubled and drove in three runs as McGuffey (5-3, 2-1) blanked Charleroi (4-2, 3-1) in Section 4-3A. Jace Pager had the lone hit for the Cougars. Sam Stout doubled and knocked in a run for the Highlanders.
Montour 3, Gateway 0 – Matteo Weber threw 6⅓ scoreless innings, gave up one hit and struck out 12 while Zachary Ciamacco drove in two runs and Michael Ivanoff doubled and had an RBIs as Montour (2-4, 1-2) defeated Gateway (5-2, 2-1) in Section 4-5A. Nico Comunale had the only hit for the Gators.
Mt. Lebanon 3, Hempfield 1 – Ben Kraemer went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs while also earning a save and Cooper Wolling got the win as Mt. Lebanon (2-6, 1-0) beat Hempfield (4-5, 2-2) in Section 2-6A. Owen Shuglie knocked in the only run for the Spartans.
Neshannock 14, Freedom 4 – Cole Hutchinson went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Anthony Eakin drove in two and doubled and Jake Rynd picked up a win as Neshannock (5-1, 2-1) beat Freedom (3-4, 2-2) in Section 2-2A. Ryan Fessler went 2 for 2 with an RBI for the Bulldogs.
New Brighton 15, Aliquippa 0; New Brighton 17, Aliquippa 0 – New Brighton (5-3, 4-1) swept Aliquippa (0-4, 0-4) in a Section 2-2A doubleheader. In the first game, Brock Budacki, Carter Jackson and Vernon Krepps combined to throw a four-inning no-hitter for New Brighton. Casey Bloom and Dom Pasquale each drove in three runs, Jaxson Zahn doubled twice and had three RBI and Aiden Circle doubled and knocked in a pair.
In the second game, Bloom doubled and drove in three runs, Jackson doubled twice and drove in two while Budacki and Noah Conley doubled and plated a run for New Brighton. Ethan Shanor and Aiden Circle combined on a three-inning no-hitter.
North Allegheny 3, Butler 1 – Sean O’Donnell doubled and drove in a run, Mason Smith also had an RBI and Ben Wilcox picked up the victory as North Allegheny (3-2, 1-0) beat Butler (6-1, 3-1) in Section 1-6A.
North Catholic 5, Hopewell 1 – Landon Eifler and Landon Roedler each doubled and drove in a run while Jack Monaco got the win as North Catholic (5-1, 2-1) bested Hopewell (1-8, 1-4) in Section 1-4A. Logan Triscila doubled for the Vikings. Jake McKee went 3 for 4 for the Trojans.
Obama Academy 9, Brashear 2 – Caleb Myers went 2 for 4 with two RBI, Elijah Rawlings doubled and James Lozecki got a win as Obama Academy (4-2, 2-0) defeated Brashear (1-2, 0-2) in a City League matchup.
Pine-Richland 7, Allderdice 2 – Keegan Deihl gave up two unearned runs on two hits and struck out 11 in six innings while Anthony Annichine tripled, doubled and drove in three to lead Pine-Richland (7-1, 4-1) to a Section 3-5A win. Carson O’Leary knocked in a pair for Allderdice (3-2, 1-2). Sam Heckert tripled and plated a run for the Rams.
Quaker Valley 15, Beaver Falls 2 – Henry Zupanc doubled and drove in three runs while Ryan Finamore and Nolan Wagoner each knocked in two as Quaker Valley (5-2, 1-1) beat Beaver Falls (1-3, 0-1) in Section 1-3A. Todd Kagle had an RBI and winning pitcher Kolton Johnson struck out five in three innings for the Quakers. Christian Petronick went 2 for 3 with an RBI for the Tigers.
Riverview 7, Apollo-Ridge 0 – Johnny Bertucci struck out 10 and gave up four hits in a complete-game shutout as Riverview (7-1, 4-0) cruised to a Section 3-2A win over Apollo-Ridge (1-4, 1-3). Bertucci went 3 for 4 with a double, Eli DeVita tripled and drove in a run and Carter Loughren doubled for the Raiders.
Shaler 4, West Allegheny 3 – Max Saban drove in the winning run in the 12th inning to lift Shaler (6-3, 3-0) past West Allegheny (2-4, 0-1) in a marathon Section 3-5A contest. Joey Rispoli drove in two runs, Colby McGuire went 3 for 6 and Ben Yeckel picked up the win for the Titans. Jake McNabb doubled and knocked in a run while Brandon Boyce also doubled for the Indians.
South Park 7, Shady Side Academy 0 – Winning pitcher Cooper Hochendoner gave up two hits in 5⅔ innings while striking out 13 in a Section 2-3A win for South Park (6-1, 3-0). Hochendoner also went 2 for 3 with a triple while William Hays (2 for 3) had a double, triple and RBI for the Eagles.
Steel Valley 13, East Allegheny 2 – Winning pitcher Adam Keesecker went 3 for 3 with a solo home run, Jordan Smith knocked in a run and Daevon Gaynor tripled, doubled and knocked in four for Steel Valley (3-4, 1-2) in a Section 2-3A victory. Jack Tomino drove in a run for East Allegheny (0-6, 0-3).
Upper St. Clair 8, Trinity 4 – Winning pitcher Nolan Wilson went 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Josh Burlingame doubled and knocked in a pair and Eli Mandler tripled and plated a run as Upper St. Clair (5-3, 1-2) doubled up Trinity (3-4, 2-3) in Section 2-5A. Matthew Robaugh doubled twice and knocked in a pair of runs for the Hillers.
Waynesburg 10, Washington 0 – Tyler Groves threw a five-inning no-hitter, striking out eight, while going 2 for 3 with a triple and an RBI as Waynesburg (7-0, 3-0) shut out Washington (1-8, 0-5) in Section 4-3A. Alex VanSickle went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs, Jake Stephenson tripled and drove in a pair and Grant Pack tripled and knocked in a run for the Raiders.
West Mifflin 12, Uniontown 2 – Jayvon Thompson tripled and knocked in two runs while Braeden Andzelik and Hunter Horne each doubled and plated a pair as West Mifflin (7-3, 3-0) beat Uniontown (1-6, 0-5) in Section 2-4A. Derek Tudek had an RBI and Jake Martina got the win for the Titans. Lane Smiley doubled for the Red Raiders.
Western Beaver 13, Aquinas Academy 1 – Winning pitcher Vinny Ross gave up one unearned run on four hits and struck out 10 while also doubling and driving in two to lead Western Beaver (4-3, 3-2) to a Section 2-A win. Nate Schwarz, Christian Stefankis and Sawyer Chaffee each drove in two runs for the Golden Beavers. Brendan Roney doubled for Aquinas Academy (2-4, 2-3).
Winchester Thurston 15, Summit Academy 0; Winchester Thurston 21, Summit Academy 4 – Winchester Thurston (7-1, 6-0) swept Summit Academy (0-7, 0-6) in a Sectiopn 2-A doubleheader. In the first game, Sam McComb went 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs, Mason Witten doubled and drove in two and Sam Tarr doubled twice and knocked in a pair for Winchester Thurston. Austin Lenhardt-Barley struck out five in a three-inning no hitter for the Bears.
In the second game, Nicholas Binet and Sam Tarr each knocked in three runs and Kaelin Leimer got the win for Winchester Thurston.

Apollo-Ridge 19, Shady Side Academy 0 – Jocelyn Snyder and Madison Butler hit a double apiece and Kourtney Levesque drove in three runs for Apollo-Ridge (6-1, 1-0) in a Section 2-2A win over Shady Side Academy (0-3, 0-2).
Avonworth 13, Hopewell 2 – Sydney Savatt went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs, Emma Obersteiner doubled and knocked in three and Abigail Brooks brought in two to power Avonworth (7-1, 1-0) to a Section 2-3A win. Allison Ramaley homered and drove in two for Hopewell (3-3, 0-1). Ali Linhart got the win for the Antelopes.
Beaver Falls 4, Quaker Valley 3 – Zhekiyah Reddick went 3 for 3 with a double, home run and three RBIs to lead Beaver Falls (1-1, 1-1) to a Section 2-3A win. Leah Weisser and Olivia Hoose doubled for Quaker Valley (1-2, 0-1).
Belle Vernon 10, Oakland Catholic 4 – Bella Williams singled, doubled and homered and Mailey Hayes singled, homered and drove in three to lead for Belle Vernon (3-5, 1-1) in a Section 2-4A win. Lauren VanDivner singled twice, doubled and drove in a run, Kaylee Sypot singled twice, tripled and plated a run and Sydney Callaway had a double and two RBIs for the Leopards. Sarah Weir hit a home run for Oakland Catholic (1-3, 0-2). Winning pitcher Lily Crawford struck out 12.
Burgettstown 17, Fort Cherry 2 – Raya Sentipal went 4 for 4, Brooklyn Robinson went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs and Andi Midler went 2 for 2 with a double and three RBIs to lead Burgettstown (4-3, 1-0) to a Section 3-2A win. Lila Schneider hit a double for Fort Cherry (0-6, 0-2).
Canon-McMillan 16, Woodland Hills 0 – Winning pitcher Lyla Mowery threw a three-inning no-hitter and struck out eight for Canon-McMillan (5-4, 3-3) in a Section 1-6A win over Woodland Hills (0-5, 0-4). Aurora Shirdon had a triple, home run and four RBIs, Harley Tournay had a triple and four RBIs and Kiersten Willams tripled for the Big Macs.
Central Valley 3, Ambridge 2 – London Banks went 2 for 2 and Sonya Householder doubled for Central Valley (3-1, 1-0) in a Section 3-4A win. Gianna Georgakis hit a home run and Mackenzie Keber and Sadie Rushman doubled for Ambridge (2-3, 0-2).
Franklin Regional 14, Gateway 4 – Adrianna Martz went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Bella Salas hit a double for Franklin Regional (7-2, 4-0) in a Section 2-5A win. Gianna D’Agostino and Rylee Beavin hit a double apiece for Gateway (3-3, 0-3).
Knoch 15, North Catholic 14 – Alena Tekely had a double, home run and four RBIs and Marlee Fraser and Lindsay Wise hit a triple apiece to lead Knoch (6-1) to a nonsection win. Nicole Paschel had a triple, home run and six RBIs and Clare Kotwica hit a home run for North Catholic (5-2).
Latrobe 13, Armstrong 11 – Mya McHugh went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Natalia Scekeres hit a home run and Sarah Blossey doubled and drove in two runs to lead Latrobe (5-3, 2-1) to a Section 2-5A win. Jordyn Klingensmith had two home runs and five RBIs and Calise Czekanski, Evalyn Crissman and Sydney Krukar homered for Armstrong (6-3, 2-2).
Laurel 19, Freedom 0; Laurel 15, Freedom 0 – Laurel (5-3, 2-1) swept Freedom (0-8, 0-4) in a Section 1-2A doubleheader. In the first game, Mayci Lang went 2 for 2 with a home run and two RBIs, Ivy Pancher tripled and Lexi Krol drove in three runs for Laurel. Riley Balcom, Krol and Claire Zeppelin each threw a no-hit inning. In the second game, Hailey Fell tripled and drove in two runs and Balcom and Zeppelin each threw two scoreless innings.
Leechburg 12, Ellis School 2 – Ava Ferretti, Adalyn Zanotto and Danica Sopcak hit a double apiece and Emily Talario tripled for Leechburg (3-2, 1-0) in a Section 3-A win. Kylie Rapneth hit a double for Ellis School (0-1, 0-1).
Mohawk 6, Ellwood City 5 – Alivia Hare went 3 for 4 with a double and triple, Lydia Cole homered and Addy Moskal tripled to lead Mohawk (5-2, 2-0) to a Section 2-3A win. Sara Schwarz went 3 for 3 and Riley Prestopine hit a home run for Ellwood City (3-4, 0-1).
Mt. Pleasant 9, Burrell 3 – Jenna Whipkey went 4 for 4 with a double, Dani Trainer hit a home run and Kendall Waters tripled and had three RBIs for Mt. Pleasant (3-3,1-0) in a Section 1-3A win. Pyper Ferres hit a home run and had three RBIs for Burrell (4-4, 0-1).

In the first game, Addy Frye threw a three-inning no-hitter and struck out eight for Neshannock. Frye had two doubles and three RBIs and Callie Biondi doubled. In the second game, Ella Skodak, Gabby Quinn and Payton Newman hit a double apiece for Neshannock. Frye threw a three-inning no-hitter and struck out seven for the Lancers.
New Castle 19, Mars 4 – Mikayla DiGennaro and Olivia Hood hit a double and home run apiece and Angie Gallo and Keara Mangieri hit two doubles each to lead New Castle (4-4, 2-1) to a Section 1-5A win. Allie Walukiewicz went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs for Mars (2-8, 1-3).
North Allegheny 8, Norwin 2 – Sammy Plotsko hit a home run, Zoe Rychel doubled and McKenna Rowlands drove in two runs for North Allegheny (4-4, 3-2) in a Section 1-6A win. Abbie Telli hit a home run and Rachel Minteer and Chloe Bavolar hit a double apiece for Norwin (2-6, 2-3).
North Hills 10, Fox Chapel 2 – Alexa Edmunds hit a home run and Brianna Zwick, Emma Culver and Lily Adamski hit a double apiece for North Hills (7-1, 2-0) in a Section 1-5A win. Jillian Haigh drove in two runs and Brianna Hnatow hit two singles for Fox Chapel (2-8, 1-3).

Upper St. Clair 7, Montour 6 – Brooklyn Kemp and Caroline Barnard hit a double apiece and Lainie Guarino drove in two runs to lead Upper St. Clair (6-0, 1-0) to a Section 3-5A win. Hailey Staub hit a triple and Shania Cope drove in three runs for Montour (2-4, 0-1).
West Allegheny 6, Moon 2 – Autumn Bielecki hit a home run, Irena Santoro tripled and Savanna Benish doubled to lead West Allegheny (5-3, 1-0) to a Section 3-5A win. Alina McMahon hit a double for Moon (2-3, 0-1).

North Hills 12, Allderdice 2 – Maddie Korbel scored four goals, Addy Moriconi collected two goals and three assists and Maeve Kazmierczak made 11 saves to lead North Hills to a Section 2-2A win. Jillian Wilkinson and Mallory Lutz each added two goals for North Hills.
Pine-Richland 13, Shady Side Academy 3 – Cate Gentile and Mallory Boivin scored four goals apiece and Mada Mill added three to lead Pine-Richland to a Section 2-3A win.
Plum 12, Armstrong 1 – Brooke Price, Jess Hartley, Natalie Wagner and Ella Pedley scored two goals apiece to lead Plum to a nonsection win.
Quaker Valley 15, Ambridge 2 – Mia Floro scored two goals and had four assists, Lucy Roig recorded a hat trick and Lily Millet and Anna Campbell each added a pair of goals as Quaker Valley claimed a Section 2-2A win. Grace Wiehe had a goal and three assists and Alexa Westwood had a pair of helpers and a goal for the Quakers.
Upper St. Clair 17, Norwin 6 – Molly Powell and Anna Capobres each scored four goals and Ava Kiester made nine saves, including the 100th of her career, to lead Upper St. Clair to a Section 1-3A win. Mea Musillo and Riley Powell each had three goals and Katie Sweeney added two for the Panthers.
Boys volleyball
Derry 3, Deer Lakes 0 – Duke Klapchar had a team-high seven kills and Jaiden Beeman and Caden Marsh each added five kills to lead Derry to a Section 1-2A win. Marsh also had four blocks for the Trojans.
