Luke Goodworth hit Gabe Hein with touchdown passes of 80, 84 and 30 yards to lead Class 4A No. 3 Mars to a 47-35 road victory over Boone (Fla.) in a game postponed until Saturday due to a storm Friday night.
Goodworth threw for 365 yards and five touchdowns while Hein caught nine passes for 330 yards and three scores. Eric Kasperowicz added 120 rushing yards and three touchdowns for the Fightin’ Planets (1-0).
Imani Christian 45, Philadelphia West Catholic 6 – David Davis ran for two touchdowns and scored on a 99-yard punt return as Class 3A No. 2 Imani Christian (1-0) defeated Philadelphia West Catholic (0-1) in a nonconference game. Steve Vandiver threw for 182 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 64 yards and another TD. Kal-El Durham ran for 113 yards and Philadelphia West Catholic’s only touchdown.
Summit Academy 20, Frazier 16 – Demetrius Crosby scored on touchdown runs of 69 and 13 yards, the second of which provided the winning margin in the fourth quarter, as Summit Academy (1-0) snapped a 17-game losing streak with a nonconference win. Anthony Hammond also had a TD run for Summit Academy. Derek Diamond scored a rushing touchdown and Andrew Bandish caught a scoring strike from Brady Secrest for Frazier (0-1).
Susquehanna Township 36, Penn Hills 30 – TD Evans threw for 195 yards and two scores and ran in the game-winning touchdown with about five minutes left to lead Susquehanna Township (1-0) at the York Rose Bowl Kickoff Classic. Devin Harris threw for 231 yards and a touchdown and Naytel Mitchell ran for 137 yards and a score for Penn Hills (0-1). Jay’mere Ellis had a rushing touchdown, Ronald Porter scored on a fumble return and Carter Bonner pulled in a 30-yard scoring catch for the Indians. Mitchell’s touchdown, a 39-yard run, gave Penn Hills a 30-28 lead in the fourth quarter.

Bentworth 3, Trinity 1 – Ryan Moessner scored twice and Andrew Vipperman added a goal to lead Bentworth (1-0) past Trinity (0-1) in the Canon-McMillan tournament.
Butler 6, Slippery Rock 1 – Mason Anderson and Thomas Sheptak had two goals and one assist each as Butler (1-0) beat Slippery Rock (0-1) in nonsection play.
Deer Lakes 3, Gateway 1 – Jacob Orseno, Artemey Parshyn and Cuyler Crim scored and Collin Rodgers had two assists to lead Deer Lakes (1-0) to a nonsection win over Gateway (0-1).
East Allegheny 4, McKeesport 3 – Tymere Coberson scored the overtime winner to lead East Allegheny (1-0) to a nonsection win. Aiden Goyke, Jordan Rondue and Cayden Yusko also scored for the Wildcats. Ronald Tacuri scored twice and Jose Franchi added a goal for McKeesport (0-1).
Freeport 8, St. Joseph 1 – Angelo Porco scored four goals to lead Freeport (1-0) to a nonsection win over St. Joseph (0-1). Carson Rowley, Eli Hassler, Spencer Valasek and TJ Clark also scored.
Jeannette 3, Chartiers-Houston 1 – McAlister Steele had a goal and an assist and Stone Markham and Zion Harper also scored to lead Jeannette (0-1) past the Chartiers-Houston (0-1) at a tournament hosted by the Bucs.
Mars 2, Allderdice 0 – Zack Angoff and Cam Osterman scored and Eli Stasiowski recorded the shutout as Mars (2-0) defeated Allderdice (1-1) at the tournament hosted by the Fightin’ Planets.
Montour 5, Latrobe 3 – Andrew Prunier had a hat trick and Brady Tarquinio and Brayden Vlasach also scored to lead Montour (1-0) in a nonsection match. John Massaro, Warren Agostoni and Jake Limani scored and Roman Agostoni had two assists for Latrobe (0-1).
McGuffey 3, Carlynton 0 – Mason Piatt, Larry Goodman and Logan Crowe scored to lead McGuffey (1-0) past Carlynton (0-1) at the Chartiers-Houston tournament.
Mt. Pleasant 4, Connellsville 2 – In nonsection play, Gavin Rummel had a goal and an assist as Mt. Pleasant (1-0) beat Connellsville (0-1). Tyler Kurtz, Landon Stuart and Aydan Gross also scored for the Vikings.
Mt. Lebanon 5, Fleetwood 1 – Benton Thompson had a hat trick and JT Doran and Aaron Reddy also scored to lead Mt. Lebanon (1-1) to a win at the East-West Classic.
North Allegheny 3, North Catholic 1 – Justin Chen scored twice and Nick Denysenko added a goal to lead North Allegheny (1-1) at the Pine-Richland tournament. Justin Garvey scored for North Catholic (0-1).
OLSH 1, Blackhawk 0 – Aaron Callahan scored on a penalty kick with six minutes remaining as OLSH (1-0) shut out Blackhawk (0-1) at the Canon-McMillan tournament.
Penn-Trafford 9, Hempfield 1 – J.J. Porter had three goals as Penn Trafford (1-0) beat Hempfield (0-1) in nonsection play.
Peters Township 6, Bethel Park 0 – Alex Parise had a hat trick and Brett Martin, Jeven Kelly and Carter Helbig also scored to lead Peters Township (1-0) to a nonsection win over Bethel Park (0-1).
Plum 4, Shaler 1 – Gage Adinolfi scored twice and Eli Westchak added a goal as Plum (1-0) defeated Shaler (0-1) at the tournament hosted by the Mustangs.
Ringgold 4, Elizabeth Forward 3 – Nick Evans’ second goal of the game broke a second-half tie as Ringgold (1-0) won at the Moe Rosensteel Memorial Tournament. Lucas Wukovich also scored two goals and Jack Brodak added two assists for the Tigers. Aidan Davis scored twice for Elizabeth Forward (0-1).
Seton LaSalle 8, Bishop Canevin 0 – Sal Pasquale scored three goals and Darius Norkevicus added two as Seton LaSalle (1-0) beat Bishop Canevin (0-1) in nonsection play. Keenu Brooks picked up the shutout in goal.
Southmoreland 4, South Allegheny 0 – Liam Smith, Ethan Kenney, Landon Delara and Hunter Ryan scored to lift Southmoreland (1-0) past South Allegheny in the tournament hosted by the Gladiators.
Upper St. Clair 4, North Hills 0 – Liam Burlovic had two goals and Jacob Higgs and Benjamin Murtough also scored to lead Upper St. Clair (1-0) to a win over North Hills (0-1) at the Plum tournament.

Burrell 1, Mt. Lebanon 1 – Makiah Buchak scored off an assist from Maggie Nesko to lead Burrell (0-0-1) to a draw with Mt. Lebanon (0-0-1) at the South Hills Classic.
Cumberland Valley 2, North Allegheny 1 – Grace Sines scored the winning goal and Sienna Manns converted a penalty kick to lead Cumberland Valley (1-1) at the North Allegheny tournament. Emma Schupansky scored on a penalty kick for the Tigers (1-1).
Deer Lakes 1, Seton LaSalle 1 – Torri Carter scored to help Seton LaSalle (0-0-1) to a nonsection draw with Deer Lakes.
Hampton 1, Montour 0 – In nonsection play, Sara Kenst scored off a Molly Interthal assist with eight minutes left in the game as Hampton (1-0) beat Montour (0-1). Olivia Graswick recorded 11 saves for the shutout.
Latrobe 2, Avonworth 2 – Annalyse Bauer and Emerson Shine scored for Latrobe (0-0-1) at the Moe Rosensteel Memorial Classic at Ringgold. Fiona Mahan scored twice for Avonworth (0-0-1).
Mt. Pleasant 6, Knoch 0 – Morgan Gesinski and Rylin Bugosh scored two goals apiece to power Mt. Pleasant (2-0) past Knoch (0-2) at the Mars tournament. Maddie Barrick and Carly Kapr also scored for the Vikings.
Peters Township 4, South Fayette 2 – Marina Hajnosz, Paige Malley, Julia Spergel and Camryn Klein scored to carry Peters Township (0-1) to a nonsection season-opening win over South Fayette (0-1).
Seneca Valley 8, Altoona 1 – Cassie Leonard had a hat trick, Lexi Shattahi had two goals and an assist and Anna Iaquinta added a goal and two assists to lead Seneca Valley (1-1) in the North Allegheny tournament.
Thomas Jefferson 3, Franklin Regional 1 – Olivia Della Lucia, Sami Maglicco and Cece Wessel scored for Thomas Jefferson (1-0) in its win over Franklin Regional (0-1) at the Moe Rosensteel Memorial Tournament at Ringgold.
Girls volleyball
Carmichaels 3, Brownsville 1 – Pacey Pratt had 12 kills, Avery Voithofer dished out 23 assists, and Ashton Batis had 23 digs to lead Carmichaels past Brownsville in a nonsection match.
Jefferson-Morgan 3, Charleroi 2 – Alisa Long had 17 digs, 13 kills and eight blocks as Jefferson-Morgan beat Charleroi in a nonsection match.
