High school roundup for Dec. 12, 2024: Bethel Park stages furious 4th-quarter rally to beat Trinity

Ella Sabatos scored 19 points and Bethel Park rallied from a 12-point deficit at the end of the third quarter for a 54-52 victory over Trinity in Section 4-5A girls basketball Thursday night.
Fiona O’Neil and Sadie Orie added 15 points apiece for the Black Hawks (3-1, 1-0), who outscored the Hillers 20-6 in the fourth quarter. Sutton Williamson scored 19 points and Kimari Behrens had 12 for Trinity (4-1, 0-1).
Avonworth 72, Ligonier Valley 14 – Greta O’Brien scored 17 points and Emma Obersteiner, Megan Obersteiner and Anna Bradley each added 11 to lead Avonworth (3-1, 1-0) in Section 2-3A. Sydnee Foust scored eight for Ligonier Valley (1-3, 0-1).
Baldwin 55, Canon-McMillan 49 – Julianne Ott scored 17 points to lead Baldwin (3-3) to a nonsection win. Lauren Burella and Samantha Miller scored 15 points apiece for Canon-McMillan (3-3).
Beaver Falls 47, Quaker Valley 43 (OT) – Taylor Pullen scored 22 points, Dreaven Haskins added 17 and Beaver Falls (2-1, 1-0) held Quaker Valley (2-4, 0-1) scoreless in overtime in a Section 1-3A win. Mimi Thiero led the Quakers with 23 points.
Belle Vernon 41, Ringgold 27 – Skylar Salay had a career-high 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead Belle Vernon (3-3, 1-0) in Section 3-4A. Aubrey Brown added 12 points and 18 rebounds for the Leopards. Rhianna Fordham scored 11 points for Ringgold (3-2, 0-1)
Bentworth 45, Northgate 8 – Kayla O’Dell scored 11 points and Aubrie Logan added 10 for Bentworth (2-2) in a nonsection win over Northgate (0-5).
Bishop Canevin 49, Monessen 26 – Kya Cooley hit for 22 points and Alexis Summers contributed 10 for Bishop Canevin (4-1, 1-0) in a Section 2-A win. Madison Johnson led Monessen (2-1, 0-1) with 20 points.
Blackhawk 59, Beaver 44 – Aubree Hupp led with 25 points, Andrea Kinger had 14 and Mia Sheesley and Ava Pagani added 10 points apiece for Blackhawk (4-1, 1-0) in a Section 2-4A win. Annsley Baker scored 22 points and Ava Wright had 16 points for Beaver (3-2, 0-1).
Chartiers Valley 57, West Allegheny 33 – Rachel Boehm scored 18 points and Ava Shazier added 11 to lead Chartiers Valley (4-2, 1-0) to a Section 3-5A win over West Allegheny (3-1, 0-1).
Clairton 69, Serra Catholic 56 – Iyanna Wade hit for 42 points to lead Clairton (3-1, 1-0) to a Section 2-A win. Karma Fuqua added 13 and Jamiya Childs had 10 for the Bears. Bella Dumbroski scored 24 and Abby Jones added 15 for Serra Catholic (1-5, 0-1).
Elizabeth Forward 64, Southmoreland 21 – Chloe Zombek scored 19 points and Michelle Jellison followed with 18 to lead Elizabeth Forward (2-3, 1-0) to a Section 3-4A win. Olivia Aumer scored 13 points for Southmoreland (2-4, 0-1).

South Fayette 70, Mars 25 – Juliette Leroux led South Fayette (5-0, 1-0) with 21 points and Ryan Oldaker and Luci LaMendola added 10 points apiece in a Section 3-5A win. Vita Vargo scored eight points for Mars (2-2, 0-1).
South Park 48, Laurel Highlands 46 – Hayley Bennett scored 24 points and Nika Contakos added 10 to push South Park (2-1, 1-0) to a Section 3-4A win. Sierra Jenkins scored 13 points and Taylor Schwertfeger had 12 for Laurel Highlands (3-1, 0-1).
St. Joseph 67, Western Beaver 13 – Gemma Hornack scored 16 points to lead St. Joseph (4-2, 1-0) past Western Beaver (1-4, 0-1) in a Section 1-A opener. Kasey Cienik added 14 points and Bella Bartolovic had 10 for the Spartans.
Union 46, Aquinas Academy 37 – Kylie Fruehstorfer made five 3-pointers, finished with 18 points and hit the 1,000-point mark for her career, leading Union (4-0, 1-0) to a Section 1-A win. Olivia Benedict added 13 and Mia Preuhs 10 for the Scotties. Carly Bezila hit four 3-pointers for 12 points for Aquinas Academy (2-3, 0-1).
Uniontown 41, Albert Gallatin 38 – Charley Murtha scored 18 points and Emily Myers added 12 to lead Uniontown (2-3, 1-1) to a Section 4-5A win. Mya Glisan scored 18 points and Mikayla Shea had 11 for Albert Gallatin (2-2, 0-1).
Waynesburg 48, Brownsville 42 – Chatham Knight led Waynesburg (3-1, 1-0) with 20 points and Avery Davis added 15 in a Section 3-3A win. Skyler Gates scored 14 points for Brownsville (3-2, 0-1).
Yough 29, Mt. Pleasant 27 – Carly Fitzgibbons scored seven points for Yough (4-2, 1-0) in a Section 3-4A win. Kayla Rumbaugh and Carmella Spallone scored six points apiece for Mt. Pleasant (0-5, 0-1).

Neighborhood Academy 66, Allderdice 60 – Courtney Wallace scored 26 points, Syncer Nicholson added 15 and Kedron Gilmore chipped in 13 to lead Neighborhood Academy (6-0) to a nonsection win. Lukas Stead scored 15, Keith Taylor had 13 and Asher Schwartz added 11 for Allderdice (1-3).

Blackhawk 6, Kiski 1 – Finn Conlon collected three goals and two assists to lead Blackhawk (6-4) to a Class A win. Dylan Leiper had a goal and three assists, Bryce Leiper added a goal and an assist and Grant Shroads also scored. Jacob Kraus had a goal for Kiski (0-10-1).
Central Catholic 3, Thomas Jefferson 2 – Aaron Daley had two goals and an assist and Griffin Lewis scored the go-ahead goal in the third period to lead Central Catholic (7-4-1) to a Class 3A win. Brian Spencer scored twice for Thomas Jefferson (5-6).
Central Valley 5, Carrick 4 (SO) – Gavin Husk made 51 saves to lead Central Valley (4-6) to a shootout win in Division 2. Logan Sullivan had two goals and an assist and Mikey Crea and Treyton Palocsik each added a goal and an assist. Drew Bird scored a hat trick and Chris Tomassi had a goal and an assist for Carrick (4-5-2).
Fox Chapel 16, Norwin 1 – Dominic Casile had five goals and four assists and Trip Goehring and Tucker Cullen each had a hat trick for Fox Chapel (7-1-1) in a Class 2A win. Cal Costantino had a goal for Norwin (0-8-1).
Latrobe 4, Hempfield 3 – Cam Mikulsky and Brogan Murphy scored third-period goals to lead Latrobe (8-2) to a comeback win in Class 2A. Dylan Morris and Jackson Hayburn also scored for Latrobe. JJ Williams had two goals and an assist, Guerin Gardner also scored and Nick Crupie had three assists for Hempfield (3-6).
Mars 8, West Allegheny 3 – Xavier Bossola scored a hat trick, Ben Bowser had two goals and an assist and Gavin Stevenson added a goal and two assists to power Mars (9-3) to a Class A win. Jack Tirch and Ethan Vactor each had a goal and an assist. John Wineland scored twice and Austin Falick had a goal and an assist for West Allegheny (4-6).
McDowell 3, Greensburg Salem 1 – Wendall Natividad had a goal and an assist and Ethan Turner and Dylan Graham also scored for McDowell (4-6) in a Class A win. Jake Fink scored for Greensburg Salem (4-6).
Montour 7, Beaver 0 – Jonah Camardese had two goals and two assists, Aiden Moskovitz added two goals and an assist and Camden Molka made 26 saves to lead Montour (8-3) past Beaver (2-7-1) in Class A.
Moon 2, Indiana 1 – Josh Koren and Jordan Rieke scored and Chris Brown made 37 saves to lead Moon (11-2) to a Class A win. Brady Oakes scored and Luke Rowe made 44 saves for Indiana (5-5-1).
Morgantown 10, Knoch 1 – Ayden Shepard had four goals and an assist and Geno Valenti, Lucas Wilson, Owen Young and Justin Daffner had a goal and an assist apiece to lead Morgantown (10-1) to a Division 2 win. Cam Christie scored for Knoch (5-3-1).
