High school roundup for Dec. 18, 2025: South Fayette coach, Neshannock forward hit milestones

Haylie Lamonde and Juliette Leroux scored 18 points apiece to lead South Fayette to a 72-26 victory over Montour in Section 3-5A girls basketball Thursday night, giving Lions coach Bryan Bennett his 200th career win.

Ryan Oldaker had 14 points and Lailah Wright added 12 for South Fayette (7-0, 3-0). Brooklyn Young scored 11 for Montour (5-2, 1-2).

Neshannock 72, Laurel 37 – Payton Newman had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds and reached the 1,000-point mark for her career, leading Neshannock (3-2, 1-0) to a Section 1-2A win. Nina Medure also scored 20 points and Jaidon Nogay added 12 for the Lancers. Alexis Blair scored 16 points for Laurel (4-3, 0-1).

Avonworth 53, Deer Lakes 21 – Bria Onyshko scored 16 points, Julia Nardozzi hit four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points and Meg Obersteiner chipped in 10 to lead Avonworth (2-3, 2-1) past Deer Lakes (4-2, 2-1) in Section 2-3A.

Beaver Falls 67, Riverside 45 – Taylor Pullen led with 25 points, Calasia Cannon followed with 12 and Kijah Tymous and Dreaven Haskins added 10 points apiece for Beaver Falls (6-0, 3-0) in a Section 1-3A win. Emma Stockman scored 13 points and Addison Drake had 10 for Riverside (5-2, 2-1).

Bethel Park 46, Uniontown 33 – Kat Boff led Bethel Park (4-2, 2-1) with 16 points in a Section 4-5A win. Aierra Jenkins scored 15 points and Lyric McLee had 11 for Uniontown (5-2, 1-1).

Blackhawk 66, Hopewell 21 – Mia Sheesley and Gracen Sehn scored 17 points apiece and Aubree Hupp added 14 to lead Blackhawk (7-0, 3-0) to a Section 2-4A win. Avery Boyd scored 12 points for Hopewell (1-7, 0-3).

Burgettstown 50, Northgate 14 – Paige Klodowski scored 17 points and Savanna Rush added 11 to lead Burgettstown (6-1, 1-0) to a Section 2-2A win over Northgate (1-4, 0-1).

Burrell 70, Derry 29 – Casey Brancato led with 23 points, Chase Coury followed with 21 and Kendall Coury added 15 for Burrell (8-1, 3-0) in a Section 1-4A win. Chase and Kendall Coury each hit five 3-pointers. Kylee Metcalf scored eight points for Derry (2-6, 0-2).

California 49, Carmichaels 14 – Hayley Gibson scored 17 points and Lila Mitchell added nine to lead California (2-5, 1-0) to a Section 3-2A win over Carmichaels (1-6, 0-1).

Elizabeth Forward 56, Mt. Pleasant 32 – Mia Sostaric scored 17 points and Addison Wach added 12 to help Elizabeth Forward (5-2, 3-0) to a Section 3-4A win. Ryleigh Drzal scored 17 to lead Mt. Pleasant (3-4, 1-2).

Ellwood City 48, New Brighton 22 – Carah Kreitzer hit for 20 points and Jayden Allwine added 18 to help Ellwood City (2-7, 1-2) to a Section 1-3A win. Myah Adkins led New Brighton (0-7, 0-3) with 11 points.

Franklin Regional 48, Gateway 15 – Madelyn Catello scored 15 points and Katherine Yaniga added 12 to lead Franklin Regional (2-4, 1-2) past Gateway (2-3, 0-2) in Section 1-5A.

Frazier 45, Ellis School 30 – Allie Yauch scored 20 points and Malana Burton added 11 to lead Frazier (4-4, 1-0) to a Section 4-2A win. Angelina Jones scored 19 points and Syree Spencer had 11 for Ellis School (2-5, 0-1).

Greensburg Central Catholic 73, South Allegheny 23 – Erica Gribble scored 22 points, Jayla Peterson had 13 and Abby Dlugos added 10 to lead Greensburg Central Catholic (4-1, 3-0) to a Section 2-3A win over South Allegheny (0-9, 0-3).

Hampton 51, Central Valley 35 – Led by 15 points from Katie Christy, 13 from Harper Gibbons and 11 from Brynn Rodgers, Hampton (8-0, 3-0) won in Section 2-4A. Jillian Firich scored 12 to lead Central Valley (1-4, 1-1).

Kiski Area 65, Greensburg Salem 51 – Gianna DeVito scored 24 points, including a 7-for-7 night from the free-throw line, to lead Kiski Area (5-2, 1-1) to a Section 2-5A win. Jada Blanciak had 15 points and Olivia Strellec added 10 for the Cavaliers. Vienna Jevicky scored 17 and Sophie Beckerleg added 16 for Greensburg Salem (4-4, 0-3).

Latrobe 52, McKeesport 49 – Emry Bridge scored 17 points and Maggie Maiers contributed 13 to help Latrobe (3-2, 2-1) to a Section 2-5A win. Dannah Sebelia scored 21 and Sunny Harper had 17 for McKeesport (5-3, 1-2).

Mohawk 39, Sto-Rox 37 – Addy Moskal scored 16 points, including the game-winning basket with three seconds left, and Makenna Stewart scored a game-high 17 points to lead Mohawk (3-4, 2-1) to a Section 1-3A victory. Daniella Reel led Sto-Rox (3-4, 1-2) with 13 points.

Mt. Lebanon 44, Hempfield 37 – Anessa Donoghue scored 12 points and Chloe Shea had 11 for Mt. Lebanon (2-5, 1-0) in a Section 2-6A win. Ava Shipman scored 12 points for Hempfield (6-2, 0-1).

Oakland Catholic 53, Freeport 17 – Josie Fontana scored 10 points to lead Oakland Catholic (3-1, 3-0) past Freeport (4-4, 1-2) in Section 1-4A.

Penn-Trafford 63, West Mifflin 26 – Torrie DeStefano scored 24 points to power Penn-Trafford (4-4, 2-1) to a Section 2-5A win. Izzy Fontana added 15 and Raya Johnson had 11 for the Warriors. Neraul Parms led West Mifflin (2-6, 0-2) with 11 points.

Pine-Richland 72, Woodland Hills 12 – Cate Gentile led with 18 points, Rebekah Shaffer followed with 14 and Mia LeDonne added 12 for Pine-Richland (2-5, 1-0) in a Section 1-6A win over Woodland Hills (0-4, 0-1).

Quaker Valley 49, OLSH 30 – Mimi Thiero led Quaker Valley (3-3, 2-1) with 38 points in a Section 1-3A win. Leah Parker scored 13 points for OLSH (4-2, 1-2).

Ringgold 42, Yough 36 – Jada Gernot scored 23 points and Addison Jenkins added 10 to push Ringgold (3-3, 2-1) to a Section 3-4A win. Evelyn Gates scored 13 points for Yough (4-4, 0-2).

Rochester 47, Freedom 17 – Syrin Crosby scored 13 points to lead Rochester (5-2, 1-0) to a Section 1-2A win over Freedom (2-5, 0-1).

Serra Catholic 74, Avella 27 – Bella Dumbroski led with 26 points, Lexi Pearce followed with 17 and Mia Brush added 14 for Serra Catholic (4-2, 3-0) in a Section 2-A win. Kenzi Miller scored eight points for Avella (3-5, 1-2).

Shady Side Academy 81, Ligonier Valley 13 – Cassie Sauer scored 18 points and Karis Thomas had 13 to send Shady Side Academy (7-0, 3-0) to a Section 2-3A win. Adleigh Myers led Ligonier Valley (3-5, 2-2) with five.

South Park 39, Belle Vernon 38 – Hayley Bennett scored 11 points, including a pair of free throws with 3.5 seconds left, and Bella Stromberg added 10 points to push South Park (3-3, 3-0) to a Section 3-4A win. Lyla McConnell scored 22 points for Belle Vernon (5-2, 2-1).

Steel Valley 48, East Allegheny 19 – Linajah Tyler scored 14 points and Amari Randall added 13 to lead Steel Valley (1-8, 1-3) to a Section 2-3A win. Ivy Barnett led East Allegheny (1-7, 0-3) with 11 points.

St. Joseph 66, Eden Christian 46 – Bella Bartolovic scored 19 points to lead three players in double figures for St. Joseph (5-2, 3-0) in a Section 1-A win. Jocelyn Spinelli hit five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points and Kasey Cienik added 15 points for the Spartans. Hannah Wallace led Eden Christian (4-3, 1-2) with 25 points.

Thomas Jefferson 70, Albert Gallatin 9 – Riley McCabe scored 16 points, Maggie Spell had 13 and Emily Hritz added 10 to lead Thomas Jefferson (7-1, 3-0) to a Section 4-5A win over Albert Gallatin (0-6, 0-3).

Union 31, Sewickley Academy 25 – Miera Gunn scored 11 points and Union went on a 9-0 run in the second quarter to earn a Section 1-A victory. Emma Eannarino led Sewickley Academy (2-6, 1-2) with 10 points.

Waynesburg 51, Washington 49 – Tess Pauley scored 19 points, Emma Blair had 14 and Peyton Cowell added 10 to push Waynesburg (6-0, 2-0) stayed undefeated with a Section 3-3A win. Olivia Woods led Washington (4-2, 2-1) with 24 points.

West Greene 53, Clairton 17 – Kendra Tharp scored 14 points and West Greene (6-2, 2-1) used a 19-1 advantage in the third quarter to pull away in a Section 2-A win. Karma Fuqua led Clairton (1-4, 0-3) with 12 points.

Winchester Thurston 62, Apollo-Ridge 34 – Behind 20 points from Jasmine Hollins, 17 from DaShae Cochran and 16 from Aleah Cooper, Winchester Thurston (6-1, 1-0) picked up a Section 4-2A win. Madison Hughley scored 14 points and Mikaila Ditty chipped in 12 for Apollo-Ridge (2-6, 0-1).

Boys basketball

Jefferson-Morgan 69, Mapletown 15 – Dayten Marion scored 15 points and Jeremiah Robertson added 12 for Jefferson-Morgan (5-0, 3-0) in a Section 3-2A win over Mapletown (0-7, 0-3).

Leechburg 58, St. Joseph 44 – Timmy Skeel and Mason Scitticatt each hit for 17 points and Connor Szymanski chipped in 12 to send Leechburg (2-6) to a nonsection win. Ryan McCarthy led the way with 21 points and Nick Tometsko had 11 for St. Joseph (2-5).

North Allegheny 55, Wayne Central (NY) 35 – Ben Coffman hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points and Jahlil Archer added 12 points to lead North Allegheny (5-1) at the KSA Pre-Holiday tournament. Aidan Twist led Wayne Central with 21 points.

North Catholic 90, Valley 44 – Brandon Pickett led with 22 points, Jude Rottmann followed with 15, Brady Trout had 13 and Jason Fredericks added 12 for North Catholic (5-1, 2-0) in a Section 1-4A win. Jaden Wall scored 19 points for Valley (1-7, 0-3).

OLSH 56, Union 35 – Jake Johnson led with 17 points and Frankie Igrec followed with 11 for OLSH (4-1, 2-1) in a Section 4-2A win. Landon Eckert scored 12 points for Union (2-7, 1-2).

Pine-Richland 52, Allderdice 46 – Grant Spaciolli scored 15 points, Dolan Stober had 13 and Eli Catalano added 10 to lead Pine-Richland (2-4) to a nonsection win. Lukas Stead scored 12 points for Allderdice (2-4).

Riverside 44, Beaver Falls 40 – Cole Becker went for 23 points and Logan Young chipped in 11 for Riverside (6-1, 2-1) in Section 1-3A. Cartier Williams led Beaver Falls (2-6, 1-2) with 10.

Sewickley Academy 62, Winchester Thurston 23 – Adam Ikamba scored 15 points and Mamadou Kane added 12 to lead Sewickley Academy (6-0, 3-0) to a Section 2-2A win. Michael Hammerling scored 10 points for Winchester Thurston (6-2, 1-1).

Upper St. Clair 64, Fernandina Beach (FL) 33 – Jake Foster led with 15 points, Ryan Robbins had 12 and Luke Rickel chipped in 10 for Upper St. Clair (6-1) in a win at the Fernandina Beach Holiday tournament.

Westmoreland Christian Academy 65, Champion Christian 26 – Titus Kail scored 19 points, Dante Ditch added 15 and Hunter Morrison finished with 14 to lead Westmoreland Christian. Kaleb Dean led Champion Christian with 11 points.

Boys wrestling

Ligonier Valley 66, Johnstown 6 – Ligonier Valley (2-0) got pins from eight wrestlers – Knourth Drury (133), Levi Cloyd (139), Rolland Steffens (152), Jacob Turner (160), Levi Foust (172), Jake Mundorff (215), Nathan Bednarek (285) and Conner Saxton (127) – to pick up a nonsection win over Johnstown (3-5). Carter Bizup (145) won by tech fall, Jarett Krupper (121) by major decision and William Tompko (189) by decision for the Rams.

Girls wrestling

Southmoreland 24, Elizabeth Forward 12 – Taylor Chambers, Addison Jordan and Kaitlyn Ice won by fall to lead Southmoreland (3-4). Carlee Hammonds-Cason had a pin for Elizabeth Forward (1-1).

Hockey

Beaver 5, Hampton 2 – Colin Justice scored a hat trick and Danny Cogis added two goals and an assist to lead Beaver (4-7) to a Class A win. Preston Cochran and Elijah Bukovac scored for Hampton (5-5-1).

Canon-McMillan 5, Blackhawk 1 – Michael Traynor scored twice, Ayden Heinen had a goal and an assist and Brayden Edgar and Max Hart also scored for Canon-McMillan (11-0) in Class A. Finn Conolon scored for Blackhawk (9-3).

Cathedral Prep 7, Wheeling Park 3 – Michael Corritore had a hat trick, Chris Bruschi added a goal and two assists and Jonah Wyant had a goal and an assist to lead Cathedral Prep (2-8-2) to a Class 2A win. Gavin Hudrlik, Daniel Tatich and Luke Simonetti scored for Wheeling Park (3-7-2).

Chartiers Valley 5, Greensburg Salem 2 – Gavin Waldron scored twice, Austin Tornabene and Dylan Shamonsky each had a goal and two assists and Jackson Chorney added a goal and an assist for Chartiers Valley (11-0-1) in a Class A win. Braysn Richard and Jeremiah Faulk scored and Jake Fink had two assists for Greensburg Salem (5-8-2).

Hempfield 5, Latrobe 3 – Mats Martz and Jonathan Holtzman each had two goals and Kevin Sabie also scored to power Hempfield (11-2) to a Class 2A win. Preston Miller had two goals and Garek McMahen also scored for Latrobe (4-6-1).

Mars 4, North Hills 3 (OT) – Ethan Vactor’s second goal of the game was the overtime winner for Mars (11-0-2) in Class A. Joey Santa and Ethan DaSilva also scored for Mars. Christopher Muschar had a goal and an assist and Cody Wittmer and Marcus Duffy also scored for North Hills (6-4-3).

North Catholic 5, Indiana 4 – Anthony Neely scored the game-winner with 3:02 to play after Miles Robinson netted the tying goal with 6:43 left, leading North Catholic (6-5-1) to a Class A win. Robinson had a hat trick, Neely finished with a goal and three assists and Sebastian Alessandro also scored. Joey Mains and Tyler Yount each had a goal and an assist and Michael Dubetsky and Spencer Hillsberry also scored for Indiana (4-8-1).

Ringgold 11, Deer Lakes 0 – Landon Vaccaro collected three goals and three assists, Brady Lippert had three goals and one assist and Mason Ribnicky made 22 saves to lead Ringgold (10-2) past Deer Lakes (7-5) in Division 2.

South Fayette 2, Thomas Jefferson 1 – Mikhail Lobanov scored the go-ahead goal in the third period, Mason Vidak had the tying goal in the second and Jackson Ankrum made 35 saves for South Fayette (6-7) in Class 3A. Cam Lorenzi scored for Thomas Jefferson (6-5-1).

Trinity 4, Connellsville 3 – Zach Jiblits scored the tie-breaking goal with 7:23 to play to lead Trinity (5-4) to a Division 2 win. Kory Taylor and Bobby Daddea each had a goal and an assist, Seamus Coyle also scored and Chase Jones made 40 saves for Trinity. Connor Basinger had two goals and an assist and Logan Jenkins also scored for Connellsville (9-4).

West Allegheny 5, South Park 0 – John Wineland scored twice, Tyler Lokay had a goal and three assists, Talan Zandona had a goal and an assist and Luke Sawford made 15 saves to lead West Allegheny (7-5) past South Park (1-10) in Class A.
