John Rehak scored 18 points, including the game-winning layup with five-tenths of a second remaining for Fox Chapel in a 65-64 win over Shaler in nonsection boys basketball Tuesday night.
Jordan Epps scored 25 points and Deron Nixon had 21 for the Titans (1-2). Grant Fenton scored 16 points for the Foxes (1-0).
Chartiers Valley 74, Laurel Highlands 36 – Danny Slizik scored 23 points, Luca Federico had 19 and Julian Semplice added 15 to lead Chartiers Valley (1-0) to a nonsection win. Kayden Smith scored 10 points for Laurel Highlands (1-1).
Cheswick Christian 61, Plants & Pillars 37 – Brady Rochkind hit for 30 points and Joseph Rosio added 23 to lead Cheswick Christian (1-0). Desmond Lowe finished with 10 points for Plants & Pillars (0-1).
Connellsville 72, Yough 30 – Christian Thomas scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures for Connellsville (1-0) in a nonsection win. Brett Hedrick added 11 and Tyler Burkus and Lucas Harwood each chipped in 10. Tyler Smith led Yough (0-2) with 14 points.
Elizabeth Forward 72, Bethel Park 68 – Tyler Basic led with 29 points, Daniel Spence followed with 20 and James Gile added 13 for Elizabeth Forward (1-2) in a nonsection win. Joe Parisi scored 18 points and Will Thomas had 17 for Bethel Park (0-1).
Franklin Regional 90, Plum 61 – Alec Masten led Franklin Regional (1-0) with 23 points and Logan Walter added 15 in a nonsection win. Xavier Barto scored 19 points and Bryce Nabozny had 13 for Plum (0-1).
Keystone Oaks 73, Southmoreland 59 – Aaron Beck scored 20 points, Erond Jakupi had 17 and Isaac Russell and Jude Clarke added 12 points apiece to lead Keystone Oaks (3-0) to a nonsection win. Brock Pritts scored 16 points and Noah Felentzer had 12 for Southmoreland (0-1).
North Allegheny 59, Mars 55 – Ben Coffman scored 14 points and Justin Statler added 11 to send North Allegheny (2-0) to a nonsection win. Ben Detisch scored 24 to lead Mars (0-1).
OLSH 66, Riverview 46 – Austin Avsec scored 23 points, Jake Johnson had 14 and Nolan Reed added 11 to lead OLSH (1-0) to a nonsection win. Rex Roberts scored 20 points for Riverview (1-2).
South Allegheny 72, McKeesport 62 – Drew Cook hit for 28 points and Smaj Reason followed with 23 to lead South Allegheny (2-1) to a nonsection win over McKeesport (1-1).
South Side 72, New Brighton 54 – Andrew Corfield led with 24 points, Dawson Frasier had 19 and Logan Leatherman added 17 for South Side (2-1) in a nonsection win. Dash Graham and Joey Kennedy scored 16 points apiece for New Brighton (0-1).
Girls basketball
North Hills 46, Fox Chapel 43 – Delaney Amato scored 16 points and Zoe Devlin followed with 15 to power North Hills (1-0) to a nonsection win. Lyla Jablon scored 15 and Emily McKee chipped in 12 for Fox Chapel (0-1).
Shaler 49, Knoch 22 – Reese Smetanka scored 20 points to lead Shaler (1-0) to a nonsection win. Liv Foster and Jada Burgard scored six points apiece for Knoch (0-3).
South Fayette 74, Pine-Richland 29 – Haylie Lamonde led with 20 points, Juliette Leroux followed with 16 and Kenzie Rumberger added 11 for South Fayette (3-0) in a nonsection win. Gabby Siegle and Rebekah Shaffer scored nine points apiece for Pine-Richland (0-1).
Union 43, Hickory 31 – Olivia Benedict scored 11 points and Ally Symons added 10 to lead Union (3-0) to a nonsection win. Gianna Fleming scored 11 points for Hickory.
Upper St. Clair 50, Seneca Valley 35 – Ryan Prunzik scored 21 points, Kat Polstyanko had 12 and Kenzie Pope added 10 to lead Upper St. Clair (1-0) to a nonsection win. Reece McFadden scored 14 points and Natalie Hambly had 13 for Seneca Valley (1-2).
Hockey
Canon-McMillan 5, Meadville 0 – Michael Traynor collected two goals and two assists and Brayden Edgar also scored twice to lead Canon-McMillan (8-0) past Meadville (3-6-2) in Class A. Elliot Moser had a goal and an assist and Aiden Bobbs made 16 saves for Canon-Mac.
Penn-Trafford 3, Bethel Park 2 – Ben Zierski scored the game-winning goal with 4:16 to play as Penn-Trafford (9-1) picked up a Class 2A win. Lorvens Huber and Sean Goodman also scored and Tyler Funk made 39 saves for Penn-Trafford. Lukas Crisson and Ezra Kozak scored for Bethel Park (6-3-1), which erased a 2-0 deficit.
