High school roundup for Dec. 30, 2024: Upper St. Clair boys knock off reigning state champs

Julian Dahlem scored on back-to-back possessions in the final minute and Tyler Robbins led the way with 19 points to help Upper St. Clair to a 53-51 boys basketball victory over reigning PIAA Class 6A champion Central York (7-1) on Monday. Niko Gidas and Jake Foster each added 10 points for the Panthers (10-1).
Burgettstown 73, Hillel Academy 36 – Colton County scored 18 points and Bryce Speer added 11 to help Burgettstown (3-6) to a nonsection win. Coby Shaw scored 10 for Hillel Academy (1-2).
Butler 75, Fairview 50 – Stainton Forbes scored 18 points to lead four players in double figures for host Butler (7-3) at the Holiday Bash. Tayt Lucas added 17 and Ayden Andrews and Andrew Gettinger each had 15.
Knoch 62, Bishop Guilfoyle 57 – Jackson Bauman scored 18 points to lead Knoch (8-3) at the Holiday Bash at Butler. Teegan Finucan added 14 points and Brody Bauman had 11 for the Knights, who took control with a 25-14 advantage in the third quarter. Taurean Lonsiglio and Nick Foor each scored 18 for Bishop Guilfoyle.
Laurel 49, Freedom 27 – Jayden Iorio scored 15 points to lead Laurel (5-5) to a win at the Wilmington tournament. Justin Shegog led Freedom (1-7) with 10 points.
New Castle 71, Allderdice 60 – Led by 25 points from Kai Cox, 18 from Damian Harrison and 16 from Ralphie Blundo, New Castle (8-0) picked up a win at the Holiday Bash at Geneva College. Lukas Stead scored 17 and Markus Kuhn and Trey Schachter each had 14 for Allderdice (2-7).
North Catholic 75, Hatboro Horsham 34 – Jude Rottmann scored 18 points and North Catholic hit 11 3-pointers to win at the Boardwalk Classic in Wildwood, N.J. Jason Fredericks added 13 points for the Trojans (6-4). Jaden Thompson led Hatboro Horsham with 12 points.
West Allegheny 62, Laurel Highlands 56 – Donovan O’Connor scored 17 points, Tegan Ricketts followed with 15 and Josiah Johnson chipped in 10 for West Allegheny (5-6) in a nonsection win. Antwan Black scored 22 points and Aiden Black added 11 for Laurel Highlands (3-7).
Girls basketball
Allderdice 43, Belle Vernon 38 – Bailey White scored 18 points to lead Allderdice (5-5) to a comeback win at the Cal (Pa.) Hoopfest. Aubrey Brown scored 14 for Belle Vernon (4-6), which jumped out to a 13-6 lead after one quarter.
Greensburg Central Catholic 40, OLSH 30 – Jayla Peterson scored 12 points and Erica Gribble added 11 to lead No. 2 Greensburg Central Catholic (6-2) to a win at the Cal (Pa.) Hoopfest in a matchup of top 5 teams in Class 3A in the Trib HSSN girls basketball rankings. Claudia Ierullo led No. 3 OLSH (8-1) with 15 points.
Montour 65, Bethel Park 63 – Abigail Cleary scored 22 points as Montour (5-5) survived a second-half Bethel Park charge at the Cal (Pa.) Hoopfest. Tiffany Miller added 18 points and Zoe Woessner added 17 for the Spartans, who led by nine at halftime but trailed by a point entering the fourth quarter. Sadie Orie led the Black Hawks (6-4) with 21 points. Fiona O’Neill added 14, Ella Sabatos 12 and Kathryn Boff 10.
Neshannock 65, Beaver Falls 34 – Ainsley Allison collected 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Neshannock (9-1) at the Holiday Bash at Geneva College. Payton Newman added 15, Nine Medure 11 and Jaidon Nogay 10 for the Lancers. Taylor Pullen led Beaver Falls (3-3) with 16 points.
Oakland Catholic 60, McDowell 37 – Alayna Bivins scored 17 points to lead Oakland Catholic (5-2) to a nonsection win. Makayla Canty and Zephania Troxler-Scott each added 12 points for the Eagles. Kaylee Bithell led McDowell with 20 points.
South Fayette 54, Folsom (CA) 53 – Haylie Lamonde scored 18 points and Ryan Oldaker added 16 to lead South Fayette (9-1) to a win at the Tampa Bay Invitational.
Thomas Jefferson 51, Canon-McMillan 44 – Kaylee DeAngelo hit four 3-pointers to score 12 points and Thomas Jefferson (11-1) came back from an 11-5 deficit after one quarter to win at the Cal (Pa.) Hoopfest. Riley McCabe added 11 points and Maggie Spell and Leah Lockhart each chipped in 10 for the Jaguars. Madison Clair scored 19 and Lauren Borella added 11 for Canon-McMillan (5-5).
Upper St. Clair 66, Franklin Regional 45 – Rylee Kalocay hit for 27 points and Meredith Huzjak added 16 to power Upper St. Clair (6-2) at the Cal (Pa.) Hoopfest. Madison DeRiggi scored 16 points and Anna Novelli contributed 12 for Franklin Regional (5-5).
West Greene 63, Jefferson-Morgan 29 – Kendra Tharp led all scorers with 24 points and Madelyn Roberts added 15 to lead West Greene (6-2) to a nonsection win. Leighana Gooden scored 16 for Jefferson-Morgan (1-9).
