Karis Thomas hit for 33 points to lead Shady Side Academy to a 64-53 victory over Baldwin in nonsection girls basketball Wednesday night.
Laila Banner added 11 for the Bulldogs (3-0). Thomas now has 1,040 career points after cracking the 1,000 mark in a win over Berlin Brothersvalley on Sunday. Isabella Niles scored 12 points and Mary Vargo and Lynsey Bernotas had 11 points apiece for the Highlanders (0-1).
Beth-Center 52, Charleroi 15 – Callie Dorsey scored 11 points for Beth-Center (2-1) in a nonsection win over Charleroi (0-3).
Bishop Canevin 60, Northgate 19 – Led by 18 points from Isabella Sysak and 16 from Kya Cooley, Bishop Canevin (2-0) picked up a nonsection win. Cassidy Auth scored 11 for Northgate (0-2).
Chartiers-Houston 40, Brentwood 19 – Ava Capozzoli scored nine points for Chartiers-Houston (2-0) in a nonsection win over Brentwood (0-1).
Ellwood City 61, Washington 36 – Delaney Sturgeon scored 20 points and Caitlin Kreitzer and Kayla Jones added 17 points apiece to lead Ellwood City (1-1) to a nonsection win. Olivia Woods scored nine points for Washington (1-1).
Greensburg Central Catholic 63, Berlin Brothersvalley 50 – Erica Gribble led with 24 points, Jayla Pederson followed with 14 and Avery Jones added 10 for Greensburg Central Catholic (2-1) in a nonsection win. Coral Prosser scored 21 points for Berlin Brothersvalley (1-2).
Hampton 54, Valley 32 – Harper Gibbons scored 16 points and Ellie Klocko added 12 to lead Hampton (3-0) to a nonsection win. Janelle Norman scored 12 points for Valley (1-3).
