High school roundup for Feb. 19, 2026: New Castle, Central Catholic move into 6A semifinals

Marino Graham scored 18 points and Kai Cox added 17 as No. 2 New Castle defeated No. 7 Mt. Lebanon, 67-49, in the WPIAL Class 6A boys basketball quarterfinals Thursday night.
Damian Harrison added 12 points for the Red Hurricanes (22-1), who will meet No. 3 Central Catholic in the semifinals Monday. Liam Sheely finished with 20 points and Carter Gould had 10 for the Blue Devils (15-9).
Central Catholic 64, Imani Christian 39 – Enzo Khalil led with 25 points and Jack Stoessel added 10 for No. 3 Central Catholic (21-2) in a Class 6A quarterfinal win. Donovan Gordon scored 13 points and Nahjir Norris had 10 for No. 11 Imani Christian (7-17). The Vikings will face No. 2 New Castle in the semifinals Monday.
Cheswick Christian Academy 59, Plants and Pillars 47 – Brady Rochkind had 25 points and 12 rebounds and Joseph Rosio added 20 points as Cheswick Christian advanced to the Southwestern Christian Athletic Conference championship game for the fourth straight season. The Chargers will meet Grove City Christian at 5 p.m. Saturday at Beaver County Christian School. Malachi DeGraaf led Plants and Pillars with 19 points.
Clairton 51, Neshannock 36 – Brandon Murphy scored 20 points and Jeff Thompson added 13 to lead No. 5 Clairton (18-3) to a Class 2A quarterfinal win. Callen Haggerty scored 14 points and David Kwiat and Jino Mozzocio had 10 points apiece for No. 4 Neshannock (18-5). The Bears will meet No. 1 Jeannette in Monday’s semifinal.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 41, Jefferson-Morgan 28 – Third-seeded OLSH (20-4) defeated No. 6 Jefferson-Morgan (22-2) in the Class 2A quarterfinals and will meet No. 2 Sewickley Academy in the semifinals Monday.
Sewickley Academy 61, Winchester Thurston 33 – Drew Steals and Mamadou Kane scored 11 points apiece to lead No. 2 Sewickley Academy (23-1) to a Class 2A quarterfinal win. Mike Hammerling scored 23 points for No. 10 Winchester Thurston (16-8). The Panthers will meet No. 3 OLSH in the semifinals Monday.
Girls basketball
Aquinas Academy 58, Eden Christian 32 – Tess Duer scored 18 points and Carly Bezila added 10 to lead No. 1 Aquinas Academy (20-2) to a Class A quarterfinal win. Hannah Wallace scored 18 points for No. 9 Eden Christian (11-10). The Crusaders will meet No. 4 Geibel Catholic in the semifinals Monday.
Canon-McMillan 37, Mt. Lebanon 27 – Faye Saunders scored 11 points and Lauren Borella and Madison Clair added 10 points apiece to lead No. 1 Canon-McMillan (19-4) to a Class 6A quarterfinal win. Cali Green, Lil Tayman and Ann Tinnemeyer scored six points apiece for No. 8 Mt. Lebanon (7-16). The Big Macs will meet the winner of Friday’s game between No. 4 Pine-Richland and No. 5 Seneca Valley in Tuesday’s semifinals.
North Catholic 57, Beaver 26 – Lauren Reitz led with 19 points and Sam Weir followed with 14 for No. 3 North Catholic (19-5) in a Class 4A quarterfinal win. Annsley Baker scored 17 points for No. 6 Beaver (15-9). Brady Wehner added 12 points for North Catholic, which will meet No. 2 Oakland Catholic in the semifinals Monday.
Oakland Catholic 46, South Park 12 – Josie Fontana scored 15 points and Madison Pullen added 10 as No. 2 Oakland Catholic (19-2) defeated No. 7 South Park (15-9) in the Class 4A quarterfinals. The Eagles will meet No. 3 North Catholic in the semifinals Monday.
Serra Catholic 53, Sewickley Academy 49 – Bella Dumbroski scored 17 points and Niki Sfanos added 15 to push No. 2 Serra Catholic (16-6) to a Class A quarterfinal win. Mikaela Mbandi scored 18 points and Athena Ameredes had 15 for No. 7 Sewickley Academy (14-10). The Eagles will meet No. 3 Union in Monday’s semifinal.
Union 50, West Greene 35 – Olivia Benedict scored 22 points and Maggie Joseph added 10 to lead No. 3 Union (19-4) to a Class A quarterfinal win. Kendra Tharp scored 11 points for No. 6 West Greene (17-7). The Scotties will meet No. 2 Serra Catholic in Monday’s semifinal.

Avonworth 11, South Park 0 – Linus Jesionowski had three goals and an assist, Jimmy Shields also scored a hat trick and Cooper Powell collected a goal and five assists as Avonworth (16-3-1) blanked South Park (2-18) in Class A.
Beaver 11, Meadville 6 – Michael Derda scored a hat trick and added an assist, Danny Cogis added two goals and an assist, Jax Weiss also had a pair of goals and Roman Guido collected a goal and two assists to lead Beaver (9-11) to a Class A win. Nick Engels scored twice and Evan Peterson had a goal and two assists for Meadville (6-12-2).
Bethel Park 5, Wheeling Park 4 – Peter Velisaris’ second goal was the game-winner with 5:51 to play, leading Bethel Park (13-5-1) to a Class 2A victory . Lochlan Kennedy scored the tying goal earlier in the third, Tyler Miller had a goal and an assist and Lucas Bombich also scored in the win. Luke Simonetti had a hat trick and added an assist and Gavin Hudrlik had a goal and two assists for Wheeling Park (3-12-4).
Blackhawk 5, Indiana 4 – Grant Shroads’ second goal was the overtime winner, Finn Conlon had two goals and two assists and Tyler Syka also scored to lead Blackhawk (15-5) to a Class A win. Matthew Stone had two goals and two assists and Michael Dubetsky had a goal and an assist for Indiana (6-12-2).
Burrell 8, Wilmington 1 – Jared Wall had two goals and an assist and Ryan Burkett, Jacob Rose and Forrest Baird each added a goal and an assist to send Burrell (12-4-3) to a Division 2 win. Alex Rodgers scored for Wilmington (7-11).
Carrick 6, Sewickley Academy 2 – Landon Jeffrey and Ethan Semenov each had two goals and two assists, Ryan Miller had a goal and an assist and Max Hagan also scored for Carrick (4-14-1) in Division 2. Mathias Lieb and Jacob Stanislaw scored for Sewickley Academy (2-16-1).
Central Valley 7, Elizabeth Forward 2 – Luca Iannessa scored twice and Michael Crea, Treyton Palocsik and Logan Sullivan each had a goal and an assist to lead Central Valley (7-10-2) to a Division 2 win. Ian Kugler and Cam Thompson scored for Elizabeth Forward (5-13).
Chartiers Valley 7, Greensburg Salem 2 – Calum Staab scored twice, Tyler Held had a goal and two assists and Dylan Shamonsky added a goal and an assist to power Chartiers Valley (15-2-3) to a Class A win. Jake Fink had a goal and an assist and Crosby Kusner also scored for Greensburg Salem (8-10-2).
Deer Lakes 5, McDowell 0 – Max Redinger had a hat trick and Keaton Minnick made 37 saves to earn the shutout as Deer Lakes (9-11) defeated McDowell (5-14) in Division 2. Brayden Wilhelm had a goal and two assists and Mason Cervone added a goal and an assist in the win.
Fox Chapel 3, Pine-Richland 2 (OT) – Tucker Cullen’s second goal was the overtime winner, leading Fox Chapel (6-14) to a Class 3A victory. Parker Hanley also scored and Grant Watson made 34 saves in the win. Colten Andrighetti and Noah Taggert each had a goal and an assist for Pine-Richland (9-5-4).
Hempfield 11, Norwin 3 – Nino DiPietro had three goals and an assist and Andrew Bryant finished with a goal and three assists to lead first-place Hempfield to a Class 2A win. Colby Herron, Max Gromoll and Brady Wassel each had a goal and an assist for Hempfield (17-3). Brody Boban scored twice for Norwin (4-13-2).
Mars 10, Westmont Hilltop 1 – Cooper Stevens scored a hat trick, Grant Weaver had a goal and three assists and Jack Weaver and Matthew Lestitian each had a goal and two assists to send Mars (17-1-2) to a Class A win. Ethan Downey scored for Westmont Hilltop (3-17).
North Allegheny 4, Franklin Regional 1 – Joey Mitchell scored twice, Alex Costa had a goal and an assist and Kyle Imm also scored to lead North Allegheny (11-5-3) to a Class 3A win. Ryan Crouse scored for Franklin Regional (5-12-2).
North Catholic 3, Freeport 2 – Miles Robinson had a goal and an assist and Anthony Nelly and Bryce Radeke also scored for North Catholic (11-8-1) in Class A. Aiden Bauman scored twice for Freeport (2-17-1).
Plum 5, West Allegheny 3 – Scott Pushic scored twice, Tyler Bartos added a goal and an assist and Andrew Verrengia and Josh Lewis also scored for Plum (14-6) in a Class A win. Brody Gribbin made 28 saves. John Wineland scored twice and Noah Figley had a goal and an assist for West Allegheny (9-11).
South Fayette 4, Peters Township 3 – Mikhail Lobanov completed his hat trick with the winning goal with 5:50 to play to lead South Fayette (10-9) to a Class 3A victory. Jackson Stilley scored the tying goal earlier in the third and Jackson Ankrum made 37 saves in the win. Chay Lamagna and Cole Neupaver each had a goal and an assist for Peters Township (14-4-2).
Upper St. Clair 4, Mt. Lebanon 1 – Nevin Shegan Siniawski had a goal and two assists and Ryan Szpara, Jackson Quevedo and Jackson Rose scored for Upper St. Clair (8-9-3) in a Class 3A win. Cameron Mayer scored for Mt. Lebanon (3-13-3).
