Juliette Leroux scored 30 points to lead South Fayette to a 75-65 victory over Archbishop Hoban on Friday in a matchup of one of Pennsylvania’s top girls basketball teams against one of Ohio’s best.
Haylie Lamonde added 21 for the Lions (12-1), who are ranked No. 1 in Class 5A in the WPIAL by Trib HSSN. Niera Stevens led all scorers with 35 points for Archbishop Hoban (9-1), which is ranked sixth in Ohio by MaxPreps.
Karns City 44, Knoch 35 – Naomi Venesky scored 21 points to lead Karns City (7-0) to a nonsection win. Neah Ewing scored 18 points and hit four 3-pointers for Knoch (0-10).
Latrobe 36, Butler 35 – Maggie Maiers had 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead Latrobe (6-3) to a nonsection victory over Butler (8-3). The Wildcats have won four of their last five games.
Mars 40, Peters Township 31 – Alexis Cashdollar scored 24 points and Mars (4-7) jumped out to a 13-6 lead after one quarter of a nonsection victory. Bri Morreale scored 14 points and Taylor McCullough added 11 for Peters Township (5-7).
Mohawk 56, Western Beaver 33 – Addy Moskal scored 18 points and Maddie Crawford and Reagan Magno added 12 points each to help Mohawk (7-5) to a nonsection win. Liz Squicquero scored 17 to lead Western Beaver (3-6).
Montour 61, Lincoln Park 26 – Reese Vojtecky hit four 3-pointers and scored 14 points to send Montour (11-2) to a nonsection win. Claire Bannon added 12 and Sienna Palmer finished with 10 for the Spartans. Ashtyn Michael led Lincoln Park (6-6) with 12 points.
Boys basketball
Ambridge 57, Beaver Falls 42 – Jared Astorino hit five 3-pointers and finished with 24 points and Shaq West added 11 points to help Ambridge (2-7) to a nonsection win. Cartier Williams scored 12 and Ty’onn Fair chipped in 10 for Beaver Falls (3-8).
Beth-Center 84, South Side 73 – Parker Amos and Brayden Hull scored 24 points apiece to deliver a nonsection win for Beth-Center (6-4). Tyler Kurowski added 19 points and Jason Zellie had 17 for the Bulldogs. Andrew Corfield led South Side (6-5) with 35 points.
Central Catholic 42, Penn Hills 31 – Enzo Khalil had a double-double with 18 points and 16 rebounds to lead Class 6A No. 2 Central Catholic (10-1) to a nonsection win. Tyrone Johnson led Penn Hills (5-6) with nine points.
Environmental Charter 76, Wilmington 72 – Jeydan Morant scored 28 points to lead Environmental Charter (5-4) to a nonsection win. Freddie Zehetner scored 28 and Wesley Vass-Gal added 27 for Wilmington (3-5).
Geibel Catholic 95, Brownsville 65 – Seth Dolan and Evan Strimel scored 30 points apiece and Anthony Nickischer chipped in 14 to send Geibel Catholic (7-4) to a nonsection win. Dolan made eight 3-pointers and Strimel sank four. Kaden Wimmer scored 16 points and Jaylen Blair and Cameron Phillips each added 14 for Brownsville (1-8).
Mohawk 66, Deer Lakes 59 – Bobby Fadden scored 24 points to lead Class 3A No. 1 Mohawk (9-1) to a nonsection victory. Drew Wrona added 16 points and Joey Nail had 15 for the Warriors. Evan Moore scored 21 to lead Deer Lakes (6-6). Luca Mangieri added 14, Collin Rodgers chipped in 12 and Dylan Ferraro finished with 10 for the Lancers.
Peters Township 60, Fox Chapel 57 (OT) – Dylan Donovan scored 20 points to send Peters Township (8-3) to a nonsection overtime win. Jayden Greco added 13 and Jake Wetzel contributed 12 for Peters. Grant Fenton scored 18 and Carson Rihn followed with 17 for Fox Chapel (7-4), which erased a six-point halftime deficit.
Pine-Richland 57, North Allegheny 48 – Alex Kastner scored 19 points, including three 3-pointers, and Nico Aiello added 11 points to power Pine-Richland (5-6, 2-3) to a Section 1-6A win. Ben Coffman led North Allegheny (6-6, 2-3) with 15 points.
West Carrollton (OH) 51, Ringgold 49 – Joseph Ingram scored 26 points to lead West Carrollton (7-3) in a game that was tied after three quarters. Braylen Lomax led Ringgold (8-4) with 10 points.
