High school roundup for March 21, 2025: Lily Duffill belts 1st homer of season to spark Chartiers Valley

Penn State recruit Lily Duffill hit her first home run of the season to lead Chartiers Valley to a 5-2 nonsection softball win over Blackhawk on Friday.
Ava Dunlap doubled and drove in three runs and Annabelle Helt went 2 for 4 with a double for the Colts (2-2). Mia Yenges doubled for the Cougars (1-1).
Ambridge 10, Penn Hills 6 – Jaylynn Campbell went 4 for 4 with a home run, Mackenzie Keber went 3 for 5 with a double and four RBIs and Riley Davis drove in three runs to lead Ambridge (2-1) to a nonsection win. Brianna Marazas and London Seymore hit a triple apiece for Penn Hills (1-2).
Armstrong 15, West Shamokin 4 – Jordyn Klingensmith went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs, Clara Toy went 2 for 2 with a triple and Calise Czekanski doubled to lead Armstrong (1-1) to a nonsection win. Briar McClafferty hit two doubles and Leah Mondi tripled for West Shamokin.
Baldwin 11, Butler 0 – Camryn Temme threw a five-inning no-hitter and struck out six to lead Baldwin (4-1) past Butler (0-3) in a nonsection win. Jordan Gerendash hit two doubles and Gabby Jaquay, Kaylee Smolko and Reese Temme hit a double apiece for the Highlanders.
Bearden (Tenn.) 12, Bentworth 7 – Bearden outscored Bentworth (1-1) in a nonsection win. Sofia Gaussa hit a home run, Sydney Gonglik tripled and Nora Lindley doubled for the Bearcats.
Bearden (Tenn.) 19, Burgettstown 8 – Raya Inge went 4 for 5 with a double, a triple and six RBIs to power Bearden to a nonsection win over Burgettstown (0-2). Brooklyn Robinson doubled and drove in three runs, Madelina had a double and two RBIs, Layla Sherman doubled and drove in a run and Raya Sentipal tripled for the Blue Devils.
Beaver 14, Montour 4 – Olivia Peabody went 4 for 5 with a double, home run and six RBIs and Jaedyn Brown went 2 for 2 and drove in three runs to lead Beaver (3-1) to a nonsection win. Cayley Hughes went 3 for 3 with a double for Montour (0-2).
Belle Vernon 9, Albert Gallatin 5 – Mailey Hayes drove in four runs and Mia Zubovic hit a home run to lead Belle Vernon (1-2) to a nonsection win. Mikayla Shea drove in three runs for Albert Gallatin (0-1).
Bethel Park 9, South Fayette 1 – Courtney Roberts hit a home run, Nina DePasquale drove in two runs and Taylor Striegel went 2 for 4 with a triple to lead Bethel Park (3-0) in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Makenna Galish tripled for South Fayette (0-2).
Bethel Park 18, Sharpsville 17 – Sia Spano hit a walk-off RBI double for Bethel Park in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Cara Cummings and Courtney Roberts hit two doubles apiece for the Black Hawks. Emma Berst went 4 for 4 with two doubles, a triple, home run and five RBIs for Sharpsville.
Burgettstown 18, Laurel Highlands 5 – Taylor Grace went 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs and Camryn Riddinger and Brooklyn Robinson hit a double apiece to lead Burgettstown (1-1) in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Charity Babbitt hit two doubles and Payton Rambo drove in two runs for Laurel Highlands (1-2).
Charleroi 12, Mapletown 2 – Avery Pendo hit a triple, Rya Dipietrantonio doubled and Lyla Brunner drove in three runs to lead Charleroi (1-1) to a nonsection win. Makenna Lotspeich and Treslee Weston hit a double apiece for Mapletown (2-2).
Chartiers-Houston 9, Yough 2 – Winning pitcher Meadow Ferri allowed two runs on two hits and struck out 14 in a complete game to lead Chartiers-Houston (3-0) to a nonsection win. Seanna Riggle crushed a solo home run, Ella Richey went 3 for 5 with a double, a triple and three RBIs and Aubree Randolph and Zaylee Fonner each knocked in a run for the Buccaneers. Brooke Kowalski doubled for Yough (2-1).
Elizabeth Forward 17, Notre Dame Academy (NY) 3 – Julia Donello hit two home runs, Julia Resnik hit a double and home run and Julia Johnson drove in three runs to lead Elizabeth Forward (2-1) in Orlando, Fla.
Ellwood City 9, Riverside 5 – Kaylee Palombi, Crystal Folinio and Kiley LeViere drove in two runs apiece to lead Ellwood City (2-1) to a nonsection win. Jocilene Cummings hit a home run for Riverside (0-3).
Fox Chapel 10, Allderdice 0 – Ella Eisner threw a five-inning no-hitter, striking out eight, to lead Fox Chapel (4-0) to a nonsection win over Allderdice (0-1). Brianna Hnatow went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Summer Burkhart and Lily Viti hit a double apiece for the Foxes.
Freeport 13, East Allegheny 3 – Grace Palko hit a double, Lauren Clark went 3 for 4 and drove in four runs and Addison Gourley drove in three runs to lead Freeport (3-0) to a nonsection win. Mercedes Benz hit a double and home run for East Allegheny (0-2).
Greensburg Salem 6, Ligonier Valley 0 – Winning pitcher Alle Scarpa struck out 13 for Greensburg Salem (2-0) in a nonsection matchup. Patty Redinger tripled and Hannah Olbeter went 2 for 3 with a double for the Golden Lions. Elyse Witcoski went 3 for 4 for Ligonier Valley (0-3).
Knoch 10, Deer Lakes 0 – Cassie Tekely went 2 for 3 with a double, triple and two RBIs, Alena Tekely tripled and Emersyn Jones drove in two runs to lead Knoch (1-1) to a nonsection win. Siena Plummer and Kaylee Pryor each singled for Deer Lakes (0-5). Winning pitcher Kaila Purcell allowed two hits in five innings and struck out four for the Knights.
Laurel 14, New Castle 10 – Hailey Fell went 4 for 5 with three doubles, Hayden Seifert went 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs and Maddie Evans doubled and drove in three runs to lead Laurel (2-1) to a nonsection win. Keara Mangieri went 2 for 3 with a home run and five RBIs for New Castle (2-1).
Mohawk 12, Mars 2 – Reagan Magno struck out 10 and allowed four hits and one walk in five innings for Mohawk (2-0) in a nonsection win. Mylie Pistorius hit a grand slam, Addy Moskal went 2 for 2 with a home run and Gianna Pezzuolo went 3 for 3 with two RBIs for the Warriors. Abby Robinson went 2 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs for Mars (1-1).
Mt. Lebanon 11, Peters Township 9 – Olivia Park went 2 for 2 with a double and Sarah Stroh drove in two runs to lead Mt. Lebanon (2-1) to a nonsection win. Mackenzie Morgan went 3 for 4 for Peters Township (2-2).
Mt. Pleasant 9, Ringgold 4 – Gracie Etling went 4 for 4 with a double and triple and Gianna Stanek doubled and drove in two runs for Mt. Pleasant (2-0) in a nonsection win. Addison Jenkins went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for Ringgold (0-4).
North Catholic 5, Derry 0 – Kennedy Brown struck out 16 and allowed only three hits for North Catholic (3-0) in a nonsection win over Derry (1-1). Clare Kotwica went 2 for 4 with a double for the Trojans.
Northgate 15, Rochester 3 – Winning pitcher Johna Abramowicz struck out 13 in five innings for Northgate (3-1) in a nonsection victory. Gracie Auth went 2 for 2 with a triple and three RBIs and Bayleigh Hooper doubled and drove in two runs for the Flames. Emily Weese doubled for Rochester (0-1).
Plum 9, Moon 3 – Riley Stephans hit a grand slam, Danielle Pici homered and Liana Yusko went 3 for 4 with a double to lead Plum (3-0) to a nonsection win. Macy Trost hit a home run and Sydney Ray doubled and drove in two runs for Moon (2-1).
Seneca Valley 3, Harbor Creek 0 – Lexie Hames threw a one-hit shutout and struck out 12 to lead Seneca Valley (2-0) to a nonsection win. Hames also went 2 for 4 at the plate with a home run. Neve Miller went 2 for 3 with a double and Paige Volz drove in a run for the Raiders.
Trinity 16, Atlantic Collegiate Academy (S.C.) 5 – Ally Krenzelak went 3 for 4 with a double, triple, home run and three RBIs and Hanna Suhoski went 4 for 5 with a double, triple and four RBIs to lead Trinity (1-0) past Atlantic Collegiate Academy (SC) in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Ambridge 4, New Brighton 3 – Winning pitcher Joe Leseiko drove in two runs and Evan Francis singled and drove in another as Ambridge (2-0) beat New Brighton (0-2) in nonsection play. Jaleb Bailey drove in a run and Brock Budacki doubled for the Lions.
Avella 15, Summit Academy 0 – Winning pitcher Brayden Fuller singled and knocked in four runs and Hayden Gatewood singled and drove in two more runs as Avella (4-0) routed Summit Academy (0-1) in nonsection play. Charles Rush went 3 for 4 with an RBI and Noah Kimberland doubled for the Eagles.
Beth-Center 10, Clairton 0 – Winning pitcher Eli Wright tossed four shutout innings, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out four while doubling and driving in a run as Beth-Center (1-0) blanked Clairton (0-3) in nonsection play. Luke Amon went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for the Bulldogs. Adonte Wiggins singled for the Bears.
Butler 10, Shaler 4 – Boden Lenyk hit a two-run home run and Owen Boring smashed a solo shot to boost Butler (2-0) to a nonsection win. Mavrik Clement doubled and drove in three runs and Kyle Casteel got the win for the Golden Tornado. Landon Schiffhauer doubled and drove in a run for Shaler (1-2).
Cameron (WV) 9, West Greene 3 – Winning pitcher Kason Angel tossed five shutout innings, gave up two hits, fanned 15, hit a home run and drove in two runs in a nonsection win for Cameron. Wyatt Mooney singled and drove in a run for West Greene (0-1). Soier Reed tripled and had three RBIs for Cameron.
Canon-McMillan 10, Seton LaSalle 0 – Troy Stimpson homered, doubled and drove in three runs, Ben Peterson clubbed a three-run home run and Kolton Smittle and Nico Patragas each hit solo dingers as Canon-McMillan (2-1) blanked Seton LaSalle (1-2) in nonsection play. M.J. Maruschak tossed 4⅔ innings, allowing one hit and striking out six to earn the win.
Central Catholic 11, Norwin 2 – Landon Greene went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, Reece Hankinson collected three hits, including a double, and drove in four runs while Yanile Heredia tripled to lead Central Catholic (2-0) to a nonsection win. Tristyn Tavares and Benjamin Geissler each had a hit for Norwin (0-3). Joshua McFadden earned the win for the Vikings.
Chartiers Valley 6, Central Valley 2 – Jared Pryor doubled and drove in a run and Michael Switala went 2 for 3 with a double as Chartiers Valley (2-2) defeated Central Valley (1-2) in nonsection play. Nathan Colberg earned the win for the Colts.
Connellsville 18, Albert Gallatin 3 – Grayden Gillott doubled, tripled and drove in three runs, Chase Sankovich and Easton Bryner each doubled and knocked in three runs and Matthew Firestone collected two hits and three RBIs as Connellsville (2-1) exploded for 13 first-inning runs in a nonsection win. Linkon Keller doubled, tripled and had two RBIs, Gradin Hodge doubled and drove in a run and Tyler McDowell picked up the win for the Falcons. Luke Wilson doubled in two for Albert Gallatin (0-1).
Ellwood City 8, West Allegheny 3 – Will Nardone doubled and drove in a pair of runs while winning pitcher Aaron Lake and Cameron Mills each doubled and knocked in a run to lead Ellwood City (3-0) to a nonsection win. Teagan Tomei homered for West Allegheny (1-1).
Fox Chapel 6, Franklin Regional 5 – Winning pitcher Tristan Blum and Jeremy Haigh each doubled twice and knocked in two runs while Antonio LeDonne and Blake Krushinski had a double and an RBI as Fox Chapel (2-0) rallied for two runs in the sixth to erase a 5-4 Franklin Regional lead in a nonsection win. Brady Yarabinetz and N.J. Ramchandran each doubled and drove in a run for the Panthers (3-1).
Frazier 14, Mapletown 4 – Chase Fulmer doubled and produced three RBIs, Camron McManus went 4 for 4 with a double and drove in a pair of runs and winning pitcher Dylan Keilbach doubled and drove in a run as Frazier (3-0) defeated Mapletown (1-2) in nonsection play. Coltin Halbert doubled and drove in two runs and Spencer Yeager knocked in a run for the Maples.
Greensburg Central Catholic 8, Derry 7 – Anthony Grippo doubled, tripled and drove in a run while Ian Shipley and Brody Bothell each had two RBIs as Greensburg Central (2-1) survived a five-run rally by Derry (0-1) in the bottom of the seventh to hang on for a nonsection win. Cason Long doubled and drove in two runs, John Wasnick tripled and drove in a run and Max Doherty singled and knocked in another for the Trojans. Alec Martin earned the win for the Centurions.
Highlands 15, West Shamokin 4 – Logan Lattus and Sal Barbarino each drove in three runs, Luke Hewitt doubled and drove in a pair of runs and winning pitcher Kristian Kocon and Beckham Ochoa each doubled and knocked in a run as Highlands (1-1) scored in all seven innings to rout West Shamokin (1-2) in nonsection play. Jude Olinger tripled and J.J. Cessna doubled for the Wolves.
Indiana 10, Central Pointe Christian Academy 0 – Caden Force drove in three runs and winning pitcher Sullivan Vanhoose singled and drove in a pair of runs as Indiana (2-0) blanked Central Pointe Christian Academy in nonsection play.
Knoch 4, Kiski Area 1 – Ryan McCurdy doubled and drove in two runs, Dylan Roth and Sean Morgan each had a double and an RBI and Zane Pacek picked up the win for Knoch (3-1) in a nonsection win. Six players had hits and Noah Matson drove in the only run for Kiski Area (0-2).
Ligonier Valley 5, Greensburg Salem 2 – Winning pitcher Austin Harr struck out seven, allowed five hits and yielded two runs, one earned, in six innings in a nonsection win for Ligonier Valley (1-2). Gavin Moore and Tyler Smith each doubled and drove in a pair of runs and Harr drove in another for the Rams. Brody Chismar had a triple and an RBI for Greensburg Salem (1-2).
Mercer 11, Mohawk 10 – Winning pitcher Aedan Ryhal homered, doubled and knocked in three runs as Mercer (1-0) rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh to escape with a nonsection win against Mohawk (0-1). Jackson Peters doubled and had four RBIs and Bobby Fadden went 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI for the Warriors.
Northgate 10, Carlynton 9 – Caleb Weiss knocked in two runs and Billy Hurley went 2 for 3 with an RBI as Northgate (1-2) scored four runs on the bottom of the sixth to rally for a nonsection win. Connor Hart went 4 for 5 with a double and drove in two while Isaac Anker doubled and drove in a run for Carlynton (2-2). Nick Rawlings got the win for the Flames.
Obama Academy 18, McKeesport 9 – Caleb Myers doubled, tripled and knocked in three runs, Braylon Johnson added three RBIs, Luke Ehman drove in three on two hits and Clark Ehman plated a pair for Obama Academy (1-1) in a nonsection win. Matt Miller had two hits and two RBIs and Mason Gergely doubled and drove in a run for McKeesport (0-3). James Lozecki picked up the win for Obama Academy.
Quaker Valley 8, OLSH 7 – Todd Kagle doubled in the winning run as Quaker Valley (1-1) walked off OLSH (1-3) in nonsection play. Sean Hudac collected two hits and two RBIs for the Chargers. Kolton Johnson earned the win for the Quakers.
Ringgold 10, Charleroi 2 – Alex Kolano went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and Gavin Angotti doubled to lead Ringgold (1-2) to a nonsection win. Brock Henderson doubled and drove in a run for Charleroi (1-1). Ashton Mincin picked up the win for the Rams.
Riverview 15, Jeannette 0 – Carter Loughren knocked in four runs, Miles Duncan plated three and Lukas Duncan and Rece Stempfer each produced an RBI as Riverview (2-0) scored 12 in the third inning to cruise to a nonsection win. Noah Rattigan had the only hit for Jeannette (0-2). Johnny Bertucci got the win for the Raiders.
Severn (Md.) 3, South Allegheny 0 – Trey Carpenter and Koltin Keener each singled as South Allegheny (0-3) was blanked by Severn in nonsection play at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Thomas Jefferson 21, Westville (Okla.) 2 – Luke Kosko went 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and two triples and drove in four runs, Justin Berberich doubled, tripled and knocked in four more while Alexander Janicki had four RBIs as well as Thomas Jefferson (1-0) rolled Westville in nonsection play at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Winning pitcher Damian Bosco threw four no-hit innings and gave up two runs while striking out eight.
Upper St. Clair 10, Mt. Lebanon 5 – Eli Mandler went 3 for 3, Cooper Stutzman tripled during a six-run sixth inning and winning pitcher Richard Gardner struck out six in four innings as Upper St. Clair (4-0) swept a two-game nonsection series with Mt. Lebanon (1-2).
Valley 2, Serra Catholic 1 – Winning pitcher Brady Moore struck out four and gave up four hits in 5⅔ shutout innings and Nikolas Heakins picked up the save as Valley (4-0) edged out Serra Catholic (3-1) in nonsection play. Dante Taliani smashed a solo home run for the Vikings. Max Black had two hits for the Eagles.
Waynesburg 7, Fort LeBoeuf 5 – Alex Vansickle went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and winning pitcher Tyler Groves doubled and knocked in two runs for Waynesburg (3-0) in a nonsection win. Ethan Bliley doubled and drove in two runs for Fort LeBoeuf (0-2).
Westminster Christian (Mo.) 11, Shady Side Academy 1 – Ben Clendenning singled and drove in a run while Gabe Centro and Ty McCaskey each singled for Shady Side (0-3) in a nonsection loss to Westminster Christian at the Jackie Robinson Training tournament at Vero Beach, Fla.

Hempfield 7, North Hills 6 – Austin Taylor had three goals and Austin Herron, Frank Somers, Ryan Miller and Evan Saltzgiver also scored as Hempfield (2-0) picked up a nonsection win.
