High school roundup for May 22, 2025: Quaker Valley, Upper St. Clair girls lacrosse earn state playoff bids

Lucy Roig scored eight goals and Alexa Westwood added three goals and two assists to lead No. 7 Quaker Valley to a 13-9 victory over No. 4 Blackhawk (13-4) in the Class 2A third-place match Thursday, earning a spot in the state playoffs. Meredith Fallgren and Kate Miller also scored and Emily Reiner made 11 saves for the Quakers.

Upper St. Clair 12, Moon 7 – Sidney Schalk scored three goals and Molly Powell collected two goals and three assists to lead second-seeded Upper St. Clair (18-2) in the Class 3A third-place match, earning a spot in the PIAA tournament. Sarah McShane, Mia Musillo and Anna Capobres each had two goals and Katherine Sweeney added a goal and an assist for the Panthers. Marleigh Therrien had two goals and an assist, Reese Keslar added a goal and two assists and Avery Machusko scored twice for No. 4 Moon (13-6).

Boys lacrosse

Hampton 7, Peters Township 4 – The third-seeded Talbots (16-4) defeated No. 4 Peters Township (11-8) to win the WPIAL Class 2A third-place game and clinch a berth in the PIAA playoffs.

Baseball

DuBois 3, Allderdice 1 – Winning pitcher Noah Farrell gave up one unearned run and struck out 10 in 5⅔ innings and Alex Sago pitched 1⅓ scoreless innings to earn the save as DuBois (13-7) won in the PIAA Class 5A District 8-9-10 subregional. Farrell and Samson Deeb singled, doubled and scored a run and Trey Wingard doubled and drove in a run for the Beavers. Hard-luck losing pitcher Zack Shook gave up one earned run in six innings. Landon Blank, Lukas Stead and Donovan Snelsire singled for Allderdice (14-7).
