High school roundup for May 9, 2025: Neshannock tops Elizabeth Forward in clash of No. 1 softball seeds

Gabby Quinn doubled twice and drove in a run and winning pitcher Addy Frye singled and doubled to lead Neshannock to an 8-5 victory over Elizabeth Forward in a matchup of top seeds in the WPIAL playoffs Friday evening.
Miley Anderson doubled and drove in a pair of runs for the Lancers (18-0), the No. 1 seed in Class 2A. Aubri Cimba singled, doubled and drove in two runs for the Warriors (14-3), the top seed in Class 4A.
Fox Chapel 5, Hampton 4 – Brianna Hnatow doubled and Jillian Haigh and Ella Eisner followed with RBI singles as Fox Chapel (13-6) scored two in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off nonsection win. Summer Burkhart doubled and drove in a pair for the Foxes. Ashley Schick homered for Hampton (14-5).
Franklin Regional 11, Belle Vernon 0 – Toryn Fulton singled, tripled twice and drove in six runs to lead Franklin Regional (14-7) to a nonsection win. Ciara Camacho doubled and drove in two runs and Chloe Lancaster and Maddie Hill combined on a four-hit shutout for the Panthers. Maddie Grisnik had three hits for Belle Vernon (9-11).
Hopewell 13, Sewickley Academy 0 – Kara Barkovich doubled, homered and drove in four runs and Alana Covalt and Allison Ramaley combined on a three-hit shutout for Hopewell (11-7) in a nonsection win over Sewickley Academy (10-5). Victoria Mann singled twice, homered and drove in three runs and Covalt singled, doubled and plated a pair for the Vikings.
North Allegheny 3, Penn-Trafford 0 – Sammy Plotsko threw a three-hit shutout and had two hits and an RBI to lead North Allegheny (13-7) to a nonsection win. Leah Carlson doubled twice and Alison Friend and Avelyn Kropf each had two hits for the Tigers. Bella Rubbe singled and walked for Penn-Trafford (17-2), which saw a 17-team winning streak come to an end.
Penn Hills 17, Woodland Hills 0 – Izzy DeCarlo threw a three-inning perfect game and went 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs for Penn Hills (3-17) in a nonsetion win over Woodland Hills (0-19). Kaylee Helsel had three hits and four RBIs, London Seymore singled, doubled and drove in a run and Octavia Haynes had two RBIs for Penn Hills.
Seton LaSalle 4, Allderdice 0 – Layla Chapman and Gianna Ferrieri combined on a five-hit shutout for Seton LaSalle (10-5) in a nonsection win. Chapman struck out nine in four innings, Ferrieri doubled and drove in a run and Kayla Pulkowski singled, doubled and plated a pair for the Rebels. Braelyn Altman singled and doubled for Allderdice (9-4).
Shenango 8, Western Beaver 2 – Brianna Aluisa singled, homered and drove in four runs and Kenndi Lynn struck out nine in a complete game for Shenango (11-8) in a nonsection win. Zoe Offie singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Emma Herb doubled and knocked in a run for the Wildcats. Kaitlyn Zele and Liliana Chambers singled and drove in a run for Western Beaver (6-12).
West Greene 9, Waynesburg 5 – Kendra Tharp went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and four runs scored and Marissa Tharp singled, scored twice and stole four bases to lead West Greene (14-3) to a nonsection win. Gina Tedrow doubled, homered and drove in four runs for Waynesburg (11-8).

Eden Christian 14, Burgettstown 1 – Brady Hull singled, doubled, tripled and drove in four runs for Eden Christian (14-4) in nonsection play. Levi DeFazio drove in three runs and Noah Emswler went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI for the Warriors. Bryce Speer went 3 for 3 with a double for Burgettstown (12-4).
Elizabeth Forward 6, Trinity 3 – Jacob Peterson singled, doubled, homered and drove in five runs and JB Crovak singled and doubled for Elizabeth Forward (14-3) in a nonsection win. Matthew Robaugh singled and homered for Trinity (10-9).
Fox Chapel 6, Shady Side Academy 1 – Winning pitcher Franco Pistella struck out 10 in five innings and Jeremy Haigh threw two scoreless innings of relief to lead Fox Chapel (15-5) to a nonsection win. Tristan Blum singled, tripled and drove in two runs and Pistella had two hits and an RBI for the Foxes. Soren Cooper doubled and Brian Firman singled and drove in a run for Shady Side Academy (7-13).
Frazier 7, Ringgold 2 – Tyler Morris had three hits and an RBI, Brant Alekson had a hit and three RBIs and Aiden Hardy doubled and drove in a run to help Frazier (9-9) to a nonsection win. Demetri Lowe had two hits and an RBI for Ringgold (10-10).
Greensburg Central Catholic 13, Riverview 7 – Jackson McMullen homered and Sean Walker doubled and drove in three runs to power Greensburg Central Catholic (15-2) to a nonsection victory. Ian Shipley had two singles, a triple and an RBI and Anthony Grippo singled, doubled and knocked in a run for the Centurions. Eli DeVita tripled for Riverview (12-6).
Indiana 7, Hollidaysburg 3 – Sullivan VanHoose had three hits and three RBIs and Charlie Manzi doubled for Indiana (19-1) in a nonsection win.
Mapletown 6, Monessen 2 – Daniel Fox doubled and knocked in two runs and Carson Vanata and Ashton Walker each had two hits and an RBI to lead Mapletown (3-14) to a nonsection win. Gio DeStefano singled and doubled and Jakob Dell doubled for Monessen (1-16).
Moon 12, Central Valley 5 – Nick Machusko and Nico Marasco each doubled, homered and drove in three runs to send Moon (6-12) to a nonsection victory. Connor Kunkle and Savario Venditti homered and drove in a pair for the Tigers. Daniel McIntosh homered and Nathan Angelo doubled twice for Central Valley (10-10).
Morgantown (WV) 4, South Fayette 3 – Koa Silbers had three hits and an RBI and Jackson Bredeson had two hits and two RBIs to lead Morgantown to a nonsection win. RJ Borgesi singled and drove in a run for South Fayette (9-10).
Neshannock 6, Hickory 3 – Anthony Eakin and Hunter Wilson each singled, doubled and drove in a run to lead Neshannock (16-4) to a nonsection win. Ryan Distler had two hits and an RBI for Hickory.
North Allegheny 11, Peters Township 5 – Mason Smith and Sean O’Donnell homered and Nico Varlotta had two hits and an RBI for North Allegheny (14-6) in a nonsection victory. Jackson Stocker singled, doubled and plated a pair for Peters Township (13-7).
Seneca Valley 10, Franklin Regional 2 – Brandon Godleski singled, tripled and drove in three runs and Ryan Piekutoski and Jaxten Plunkard each doubled and knocked in two runs to help Seneca Valley (14-6) to a nonsection win. Luke Williams singled, homered and drove in a pair for Franklin Regional (10-8).
Sharpsville 11, Mohawk 9 – Lincoln Breit went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and Sharpsville scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to pick up a nonsection win. Jackson Chapman had two hits and an RBI and Jackson Peters had a hit and two RBIs for Mohawk (10-9).
West Allegheny 7, Hopewell 2 – Jonah Buglak hit a grand slam and Mason Gass went the distance, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with 12 strikeouts, as West Allegheny (10-10) picked up a nonsection win. Logan Lambert singled, doubled and drove in a run for West A. Benjamin McDonald singled and scored for Hopewell (5-15).
