High school roundup for Nov. 20, 2025: Grant Shroads nets hat trick in Blackhawk win

Grant Shroads scored a hat trick and added an assist to send Blackhawk to a 6-1 victory over Hampton in PIHL Class A hockey Thursday night.

Daniel Ostrom, Finn Conlon and Dominic Giocondi also scored for Blackhawk (5-1). Preston Cochran had a goal for Hampton (3-3-1).

Avonworth 11, South Park 1 – Joey Moore had four goals and an assist and Owen Stiers and Jimmy Shields each scored twice for Avonworth (7-1-1) in a Class A win. Jack Kalafatis scored for South Park (1-6).

Baldwin 4, Cathedral Prep 2 – Nate Buys scored twice, Mack Dempsey had a goal and an assist, Austin Klein also scored and Preston Kossler made 36 saves to power Baldwin (3-6-1) to a Class 2A win. Hyatt Hetz scored twice for Cathedral Prep (1-5-1).

Butler 7, Greensburg Salem 4 – Anthony Trombatt had two goals and three assists, Greyson Steadman finished with two goals and two assists and Aden Devore also scored twice to lead Butler (6-1) to a Class A victory. Jake Fink and Luke Dieter each had a goal and an assist and Cam Cherok and Jeremiah Faulk also scored for Greensburg Salem (3-6-1).

Canon-McMillan 4, Richland 1 – Elliot Moser had a goal and two assists, Michael Traynor added a goal and an assist and Brody Kramer and Eli Pruss also scored to lead Canon-McMillan (6-0) to a Class A win. Wesley Dunlap scored for Richland (0-7).

Chartiers Valley 7, Westmont Hilltop 0 – Tyler Held had a five-point night with two goals and three assists, Austin Tornabene had a goal and two assists and Jackson Chorney and Ryan Viola each added a goal and an assist to help Chartiers Valley (7-0-1) past Westmont Hilltop (0-6) in Class A.

Connellsville 8, Morgantown 1 – Mason Mazak and Connor Basinger each had a goal and an assist to lead Connellsville (6-2) to a Division 2 win. Cameron Smith scored for Morgantown (4-3-1).

Deer Lakes 7, Carrick 3 – Brayden Wilhelm scored five goals to power Deer Lakes (6-2) to a Division 2 win. Mason Cervone scored twice and Max Redinger and Charlie Stefanik each dished out two assists for Deer Lakes. Max Hagan, Gavin Jones and Henry Simcox scored for Carrick (1-6).

Elizabeth Forward 3, Central Valley 2 – Cam Thompson had a goal and an assist, Blake Hvozdik and Brock Stephenson also scored and Andrew Weir made 31 saves to send Elizabeth Forward (3-5) to a Division 2 win. Luca Iannessa and Connor Svaranowic each had a goal and an assist and Gavin Husk made 33 saves for Central Valley (2-4-1).

Hempfield 8, Wheeling Park 1 – Nino DiPietro had two goals and an assist and Guerin Gardner also scored twice to lead Hempfield (7-2) to a Class 2A win. JJ Williams had a goal and two assists and Colby Herron, Max Gromoll and Kevin Sabie each added a goal and an assist for Hempfield (7-2). Daniel Tatich scored for Wheeling Park (1-4-2).

Ringgold 4, Burrell 3 (OT) – Brady Lippert completed his hat trick with the overtime winner, leading Ringgold (6-2) to a Division 2 win. Benito Pesi also scored for Ringgold. Ryan Burkett had a pair of goals and Colton Boda also scored for Burrell (5-3-2).

South Fayette 8, Fox Chapel 1 – Nathaniel Keller had two goals and two assists and Jackson Stilley added two goals and one assist to lead South Fayette (4-5) to a Class 3A victory. Hudson Vennus had a goal and two assists and Mason Vidak contributed a goal and an assist. Henry Scheidler scored for Fox Chapel (3-6).

Thomas Jefferson 3, North Allegheny 2 – Owen Michael, Gavin Salopek and Garrett Fetzko scored to lead Thomas Jefferson (5-3) to a Class 3A win. Joey Mitchell and Kyle Imm each had a goal and an assist for North Allegheny (5-2-1).

Upper St. Clair 5, Mt. Lebanon 4 (SO) – Nevin Shegan Siniawski had two goals and Quinn Caslan added one as Upper St. Clair (4-4-2) scored three goals in the final 9:15 of regulation and won a Class 3A game in a shootout. Cooper Stutzman also scored and Nico Galardini had three assists for USC. Xavier Bias had a goal and an assist and Graham Resler, Charles Bank and Ben Kurta also scored for Mt. Lebanon (2-4-1).
