High school roundup for Nov. 6, 2025: Seneca Valley hockey wins early season battle for 1st place

Braden Morin racked up three goals and two assists to power Seneca Valley to an 8-0 rout of North Allegheny (5-1) in an early season battle for first place in PIHL Class 3A hockey Thursday night.
Cooper Hoehn had two goals and an assist, Owen Martin added a goal and two assists and Chris Nicholas made 16 saves to earn the shutout for Seneca Valley (6-0).
Beaver 4, Freeport 3 – Sammy Mecchia had a goal and two assists, including the overtime winner, to lead Beaver (2-4) to a Class A win. Michael Derda and Brady George each had a goal and an assist and Colin Justice also scored for Beaver. Aiden Bauman scored twice and James Crawford had a goal for Freeport (2-3-1).
Burrell 10, Sewickley Academy 0 – Colton Boda had a hat trick and Alyx Hatajik and Dante Taliani added two goals each as Burrell (5-2-1) routed Sewickley Academy (1-6) in Division 2. Dimitri Taliani, Dom Gladish and Forrest Baird also scored and Jonah Endlich recorded the shutout.
Chartiers Valley 7, South Park 2 – Jackson Chorney had three goals and an assist and Darien Strosnider scored twice to lead Chartiers Valley (5-0-1) to a Class A win. Dylan Shamonsky had a goal and an assist, Tyler Held also scored and Austin Tornabene had three assists for CV. Josh Jackovic and Bo Baumiller scored and Jack Kalafatis had two assists for South Park (1-4).
Hempfield 4, Armstrong 1 – Guerin Gardner scored twice, Nick Crupie had a goal and an assist, JJ Williams also scored and Evan Saltzgiver made 39 saves to lead Hempfield (6-0) to a Class 2A win. Jason Rullo scored for Armstrong (5-2).
Indiana 3, Montour 2 – Joey Mains had a goal and an assist and Tyler Yount and Matthew Stone also scored as Indiana (2-4-1) erased a two-goal deficit to win in Class A. Austin Lipinski and Talon Bruce Miller scored for Montour (2-4-1).
Latrobe 2, Baldwin 1 (SO) – Brogan Murphy scored the tying goal with 6:47 left in the third period, helping Latrobe to a shootout win over Baldwin in Class 2A. Reese Myers made 17 saves for Latrobe (4-2-1). Nate Buys scored and Zachariah Hunt made 36 saves for Baldwin (2-4-1).
Morgantown 4, Central Valley 3 (OT) – Cooper Cox scored all four of his team’s goals, including the winner in the first minute of overtime, to lead Morgantown (4-2-1) to a Division 2 win. Treyton Palocsik had a goal and an assist and Spencer McGuire and Logan Sullivan also scored for Central Valley (0-3-1).
Upper St. Clair 2, South Fayette 1 – Jackson Rose scored a pair of second-period goals and Owen Laurent made 21 saves to lift Upper St. Clair (3-2-2) to a Class 3A win. Nathaniel Keller scored and Jackson Ankrum made 38 saves for South Fayette (3-4).
West Allegheny 6, Greensburg Salem 5 (SO) – West Allegheny (4-3) scored five unanswered goals in the third period – two each from Thomas Slomski and Chase Noel and the tying goal from Maddox Luketic – to earn a shootout win in Class A. Jake Funk had a goal and an assist and Cooper Outly, Luca Vento, Jeremiah Faulk and Chase Schlesman also scored for Greensburg Salem (2-5-1).
Wilmington 8, Carrick 2 – Finn McGreal had a hat trick to lead Wilmington (1-2) to a Division 2 victory. Ethan Semenov had a goal and an assist and Theos Valcheff also scored for Carrick (1-5).
