High school roundup for Nov. 7, 2024: Latrobe skates past Hempfield

Joey Crimboli had a five-point night with two goals and three assists to lead Latrobe to a 7-2 victory over Hempfield in PIHL Class 2A hockey Thursday night. Dylan Morris also scored twice and Jaxson Kettering had a goal and an assist for Latrobe (3-2). Guerin Gardner had a goal and an assist and Austin Herron added a goal for Hempfield (2-3).
Blackhawk 6, Westmont Hilltop 2 – Dylan Leiper scored four goals and Finn Conlon scored two more to lead Blackhawk (4-1) to a Class A win. Cullen Carlson had a goal and an assist for Westmont Hilltop (0-6-1).
Connellsville 8, Gateway 1 – Matty Smith Jr. scored a hat trick and Alex Boone added a pair of goals to lead Connellsville (3-1-1) to a Division 2 win. Hunter Garlick, TJ Snyder and Evan Sokol also scored. Tommy Tuscan had a goal for Gateway (0-5-1).
Hampton 6, West Allegheny 1 – Daniel Leyes racked up three goals and three assists to power Hampton (2-4-1) to a Class A win. Eli Schwartzbach, Marli Dankmyer and Ethan Hughes also scored and Joey Stephenson had a pair of assists. John Wineland scored for West Allegheny (3-3).
Indiana 8, Richland 2 – Tyler Yount collected a goal and three assists and Ryan Bell added a goal and two assists to lead Indiana (4-2) to a Class A win. Andrew Manzek, Matt Stone and Zdeno Dzuro each had a goal and an assist. Mitch Timcik scored twice for Richland (0-7).
Morgantown 8, Trinity 1 – John DiBartolomeo scored a hat trick and Cooper Cox collected two goals and three assists to lead Morgantown (5-1) to a Division 2 victory. Geno Valenti and William Lukenbaugh each had a goal and an assist. Colt Jones scored for Trinity (1-4-2).
Penn-Trafford 5, Bishop McCort 0 – Cam Kiste scored twice and Aiden Drotos had a goal and two assists to lead Penn-Trafford to a 5-0 victory over Bishop McCort (1-4-1) in PIHL Class 2A hockey Thursday night. Gavin Paterson had a goal and an assist, Robert Thatcher also scored and Kyler Doran doled out two assists for Penn-Trafford (6-0).
Plum 6, Beaver 2 – Colby Bartos scored twice and Alex Ledonne, Anthony Smith and Nick Majors each had a goal and an assist to power Plum (2-5) to a Class A win. Tyler Bresso also scored. Roman Guido and Sammy Mecchia scored for Beaver (1-4-1).
Quaker Valley 10, Greensburg Salem 1 – Ben McHenry and Jace Vasbinder had two goals and two assists apiece and Max Modrovich added two goals and an assist to lead Quaker Valley (7-0) to a Class A win. Matthias Lezama and Charlie Pyle each had a goal and an assist and Colin York dished out three assists. Bryce Ferace scored for Greensburg Salem (1-4).
Wheeling Central Catholic 5, Kiski 0 – Bode Burge and Zach Vitlip scored two goals apiece to lead Wheeling Central Catholic (4-2) to a Class A victory. Aden Cooey dished out three assists. Jacob Walker made 36 saves for Kiski (0-5).
