High school roundup for Oct. 11, 2025: Da’Ron Barksdale sparks Steel Valley past OLSH

Da’Ron Barksdale ran for 107 yards, including a 76-yard touchdown run on the second play from scrimmage, to lead Steel Valley to a 38-6 victory over Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Class 2A Allegheny Conference football Saturday night.
Barksdale, a Pitt recruit who is likely to play defensive back in college, also had a 59-yard interception return for a touchdown. Terec Seibles ran 46 yards for a touchdown, Rayvon Price returned a fumble 69 yards for a score and Tyce Barron had a 2-yard TD run for the Ironmen (5-3, 3-1), who recorded two safeties on punt snaps out of the end zone.
Talen Ellis scored on a 28-yard for OLSH (3-5, 2-3).
Seton LaSalle 47, Shady Side Academy 6 – Kymarr Freeman ran for 228 yards and four touchdowns, including a 95-yard TD run, to lead Seton LaSalle (7-1) to a nonconference win over Shady Side Academy (3-4). Elijah Hickman scored on a 68-yard fumble return, Kia Jones hit Jonathan Wega for a 2-yard TD pass and Deondre Hill added a 1-yard scoring run for the Rebels.
Kiski School 16, Blair Academy 8 – Mac Armstrong and Levi Porter scored rushing touchdowns and the defense recorded seven sacks as Kiski School (5-2) won its fourth straight game. Lewin Tauberschmidt made a 35-yard field goal and Adrian Valdez ran for 76 yards for Kiski.

Allderdice 4, Belle Vernon 0 – In nonsection play, Ethan Voight-Cherna tallied two goals and one assist as Allderdice (12-4) won its ninth consecutive game by shutting out Belle Vernon (7-9-1).
Beaver 10, Riverside 0 – Ryan Perez had a hat trick and Sam Good and Seth Kullen added two goals apiece to lead Beaver (12-4, 12-4) to a Section 2-2A win over Riverside (4-12-1, 4-11-1). Brayden Witmer, Caleb Kullen and Kian Playa also scored, Zach Orend had three assists and Shane Ebbitt added a pair of assists for the Bobcats.
Beth-Center 16, California 0 – Parker Amos racked up three goals and four assists as Beth-Center (10-6, 6-2) downed California (0-9, 0-8) in Section 2-A play. Hunter Bobbs added three goals, Ryder Roule and Jacob Gossett two goals each and Nekoda Bundy one goal and three assists.
Butler 3, Knoch 1 – Evan Ordy scored twice and Jude Perhacs added a goal and an assist as Butler (8-9) picked up a nonsection win over Knoch (5-11-1).
Norwin 5, Latrobe 0 – Ian Natale scored two goals as Norwin (9-5-3) recorded its sixth straight shutout by defeating Latrobe (7-9) in nonsection play. Danny Metzger, Jonah Stashko and Ryan Schoemer also scored and Joey Walton added two assists for the Knights.
Hampton 1, North Catholic 0 – Mason Hall scored off of an assist by Wyatt Bonfili and Gavin Guinn recorded the shutout as Hampton (13-2-2) beat North Catholic (14-2-1) in a nonsection game. The loss snapped North Catholic’s 10-game winning streak.
Girls soccer
Avonworth 2, Ambridge 1 – Paige Hollywood and Nora Sullivan had goals as Avonworth (10-8-1, 5-4-1) beat Ambridge (5-9, 2-8) in Section 3-2A. Abby Smith scored for Ambridge.
Beaver 1, Riverside 0 (OT) – Alaina Mollura scored the winning goal, assisted by Mia Furda, and Cali Coups made three saves to earn the shutout as Beaver (9-7-1) defeated Riverside (7-3-1) in a nonsection match in overtime.
Butler 3, Knoch 2 – Cecelia Wolford netted two goals and Callie McKindley also scored as Butler (7-8-1) got past Knoch (3-11-1) in a nonsection match.
Moon 4, Shaler 1 – Kendall Dydek had a pair of goals and Junie Shaver also scored to lead Moon (15-1) to a nonsection victory over Shaler (8-6-1).
Peters Township 6, Mt. Pleasant 1 – In nonsection play, Brynn Busch scored two goals as Peters Township (13-1-2) beat Mt. Pleasant (13-4-1). Addie Cole scored for the Vikings.
Plum 3, Burrell 2 – Olivia Bigger scored two goals and Emily Grubich contributed a goal and an assist as Plum (13-1) beat Burrell (9-5-2) in nonsection play. Makiah Buchak and Peyton Coury scored Burrell’s goals.
Seton LaSalle 2, Carlynton 0 – Elizabeth Sokos had a goal and an assist as Seton LaSalle (11-4, 9-2) defeated Carlynton (8-7-1, 6-5) in Section 3-A. Maurah Hoyt recorded the shutout.
